011, the best drugs and the most homicides. The residents can always be counted on to stay ahead of the other districts.
Fillmore has been at or near the top in murders since I came on the job in the mid-1960s. Every officer should take their turn in the barrel by working the streets of 011. If you can survive that hellhole, you can work anywhere. Great learning experience. I can't speak for the current 011, but in my time, the camaraderie among the men was outstanding. No female police in 011 back then. Well-deserved wood shampoos were commonplace.
Great bosses. We weren't white, black or Hispanic. We were all BLUE to the bone--da REAL PO-leese! Our closest "rival" for homicides was the Deuce at 48th and Wabash, complete with the largest public housing project in the nation. As a survivor, I can now look back on the rioting, looting and arson centering on Pulaski and Madison as intense fun. Easy to say when none of us were seriously injured. Eleven shot dead looters found inside stores on Madison Street.
Back then, Districts 008 and 016 were referred to as the "Old Soldiers' Home". Now the east end of 008 and the south end of 016 has much more crime. Even though 002 added 021, it's now just an average district for crime.
Chicago is a 100% democrat run shithole. As long as you pretend to "care" you can get promoted even if you are a total failure. Mayor Groot is a prime example of this!
You cannot possibly expect a positive outcome from a person that was never qualified to have the job in the first place. You need four people to play "clean up" behind each and every Affirmative Action hire at the US government. Now they are calling the shots and the outcome was as predictable as barnyard porn.

What is more important to look at is the current commanders, chiefs and Superintendents that were all assigned to 011 in the past
few years. And they all were promoted up even if they did nothing while they were assigned to 011?
This is getting to be the best kept secret of Command promotions!

Glad you’re enjoying your retirement and that you survived 011. The bosses are awful, most of the sergeants are just as bad with several of them actively hunting to jam you up. About 3 years ago you still had a decent amount of good sgts, and there was a good few lieutenants. The last 3 years? Any sergeant or lieutenant worth working for has fled the district under the command of cmdr. Spencer and capt. McKenzie. So not only are you working in arguably the worst part of the country, you have bad supervisors too.

I worked in 007 once. It was nice and quiet. A nice little vacation from back home. Back home in 011. 007 is cute.
I don't see how how you can blame police at any rank for what is going on in the high crime areas. Few crimes are being committed there by cops. Blame those who are committing the crimes.
And quite frankly there is very little that police can do that will change the level of crime in the high crime areas. The only thing that has ever worked is long prison sentences for the most violent and as a society we have lost interest in that in favor of using police to generate revenue.

Hey you can't really blame people for "running from the city", now can you? Don't you too want to escape? Folks here suggest it all the time and can't wait until they can leave the city/state. And always talk/dreaming of the city reversing the residency requirement. Granted it's not near far enough away but people have situations that require they stay in the general area. At least they don't have the Crook County squad of criminal loving fools pretending to be on the side of law and order. I heard Foxx is not even getting her hands slapped for the handling of the Juicy Smellit case. So much for justice. This will make her even more embolden to criminal behavior in future. Of course, one can never underestimate Patrol and the Detective Bureau for the widespread unfounding or reclassifying these property crimes into non index crimes ("killing crime"). I disagree. I work in 011. You must have a personal beef or Be a complete dog as the Lts and Sgts there are decent. They too are not fans of the Commanders ideas but I think they try to make A bad situation better. I think they look out for the officers- sgts and lts. Some bosses in other districts don’t care 2 shits about you. Majority of supervisors there are not merit.. be glad for that. Most know their shit and none seem like they are out to get anyone. No one is like The old 11 dubs and Tricky. I appreciate any boss who’s main goal is to help me stay out of the trick bag. I’ve worked other places where the supervisors have checked out and you are own your own. God forbid you have a question or a problem. None there seem to be Trying to make a merit promotion off your back. The Lts are good too. Some Lts in districts demand a spar For the smallest infractions . If you hate 011- bid out. Make sure you have a beat tag, a proper uniform and enjoy that lack of backup. Grass isn’t always greener .

People actually stop at stop signs, and wave to you that it's your turn.... There are about 7,000 people at the high school night football games...no police present..no fights..no shots fired.. imagine that ! But it does cost $1.50 to enter the beautiful sports complex.
I haven't heard a police siren in 10 years!.... most people actually say hello, and wave as they drive by. I left two life jackets at the local lake pier last night....went back the next afternoon...still hanging on the rail...and there were about 50 people right there at the beach... Shocking!! There are a couple of very smart CPD escapees working around here..I can't even imagine the culture shock of working here...and getting to actually help people..... Stay Safe...

I only worked Filmoe working special but the guys were pretty good and the Boss's were great, this was years ago. My memories of da Deuce? the Boss's were great, especially on Mids. I mean shit! Everyone had been dumped there backed then.
The LT. on mids? The first thing he said to me was "been dumped"? I shook my head yes and from then on he gave me anything I wanted. Showing up on time and sober back then made you a super star. The entire early watch was white and the entire Late watch was black but there were never any problems. A call for help and "everyone" came a running.

And there were a lot of calls for "Help" believe me. Man there were some great coppers in that District back then. It’s becoming more & more likely that if you legitimately passed a promotional (no merit/no having the test & answers), your career will peak at Lieutenant. It’s been that way for awhile and until someone has the balls to reign that in and stop pandering to quotas for race, sex & sexual orientation- this department is fucked. I’m 2 of 3 things that would get me a merit promotion, except I’m not blowing or related to anyone.
Staples won’t try to hurt you as a PO, nice person, someone you could drink a beer with, but she’s just as guilty of merit promoting people that did not deserve it. People need to put aside their personal feelings when promoting. Loyalties are wasted on the incompetent.
