OK, correcting stuff on the internet is kinda a fool’s errand. Well, I’m feeling like a fool today, so here goes:
Yeah, there’s so much BS being spouted about this stuff that it’s easy to figure that 100% of the official story is wrong. That’s a greater consistency than the gov’t can manage.
There are dozens of mask types and they work great when used as intended, for the type of risk intended. Outside medical or industrial use where you get training and either stick to it or you don’t work there anymore, or casual use where it doesn’t matter if you breath some of whatever you’re trying to filter, it’s tough to protect yourself with a mask. For a virus which is happy to jump in through your eyes, wearing a mask and no goggles to protect yourself is kinda dippy.
Anyway, having 100,000 wear masks while indoors in shared buildings *does* do something useful.
The idea is to slow the virus’s burn through those 100K. Add a few more measures (no indoor movies, no large indoor gatherings involving shouting or singing) and you may brake the bug enough that each sick person transmits to less than one other. Cases trend down, though masks and restrictions can’t go on forever. It buys time, it doesn’t erase the bug.
So a mask won’t stop it from reaching you, wtf is it good for?
The virus doesn’t travel by itself, as a bare molecule. It’s hitching a ride in breath mist, little saliva drops basically. Those are waaay bigger than a molecule and they can be filtered on the way out. If you stop most and diffuse / slow down the infective mist drops, they’re less likely to reach someone else, and if only a small amount makes the trip the recipient has lower chance of getting infected.
Less likely is better than it sounds; if each sick person causes 2 more cases, the thing explodes. If each causes 1.5, it rises but slower. Get it to anything under 1:1 and it ceases to be a problem.
My 2c is the masks don’t do 1/2 what the MSM tells you, but they’re not totally useless. They’re like a one-wheel brake on a mountain slope. They cut some speed but are not enough by themselves. It is pointless to wear them walking through a parking lot, in a park, on the sidewalk etc. You can’t breath out enough stuff to infect the outdoors and if it’s sunny the virus is toast in minutes.
But If you want everyone to be sick, stuff them indoors into apartment buildings with connected vents and AC.

They are arguing about masks on The Rant forum. Kind of surprised by the banter. A handkerchief or just some low grade mask of any variety will not help as far as I've read. But it might hamper your Co2 intake. Of course who do you believe can't even trust the flip flop doctors, certainly can't trust the government or the WHO. The democratic propaganda machine (AKA the MSM) just lies and tries to scare people. How many times have states been caught fudging the Covid death figures and the number tested as positive. What a joke it all is. One can tell it's an election year. The China virus is real but it's been politically weaponized from the beginning. I got a mask from my vet, just for when I have to go out, I'm a disabled vet. But we talked about it and he laughed and said it won't protect you from the Commie Virus but it will make you look like one of complying herd when you go to the store.
