Promoted for What?

As a follow-up to the Fingerprints post yesterday, a few helpful readers reminded us that under the current "leadership," numerous officers were
  • promoted to Evidence Technician from the list,
  • given generous pay raises as negotiated for specialist-type jobs,
  • and then immediately went to work inside as timekeepers, secretaries, etc.
Jobs that could be filled by:
  • lower paid (and not over trained) officers or
  • even lower paid civilians
Seems kind of wasteful to spend money to have a test, spend money on training, and pay extra in salaries and increase the pensions for a job that none of these officers will ever actually do. Of course, they are mostly girlfriends, wives or pin cushions of assorted exempt members, so there's that.

This is so infuriating to hear. I have been hoping and wishing that I drop down low enough on the list to make it in before I retire but doesn’t seem like it. While I am ready and willing to go out there and process scenes, I have to keep hearing these stories of those who knew someone to get in and then went inside and stayed inside. I don’t know anyone and don’t have that phone call so I guess I will keep on sitting at scenes for hours because there are only a few ETs working citywide....

A simple list of all ET's and # of scenes processed per year should quickly show where the deadwood is.

Add in cases lost for improper processing / total cases processed for additional insight.

Publish the list, take the worst 10, 5 or even 3 and see who promoted them.

Open data could clean up a lot of things post-haste.

Why were the inside ET’s, especially front office one with no time on, Samantha C. been inside her whole short career, able to scam working the 12hr days, while never having to go out to help at all? How much of that time was spent working out and and standing in the hall twirling her hair being useless like always? The timekeeping spot should be gone whenever Karen R. decides to come back from why ever she is off now, again.... . Kisses the Lt’s ass so comes and goes as she pleases when she happens to actually be there for prob 3 hours a day. Where was she during the 12hr nonsense? Btw that “extra point” stuff is for FTO’s only.

It’s funny how people come on here to complain about the female ET’s inside when the reality is there are actually way more male ET’s who work inside in total. The gun lab, laser, photo, all filled with male ET’s. And those are the crazy OT spots. Plenty of them went in right after training as well. That being said I do agree there should not be 3 secretaries in the commander’s office who are all ET’s especially when one has the least seniority in the unit, like 7 yrs on maybe, and has made a career of being pregnant so she can stay in. I could see 1 maybe but not 3 and 2 of them are deadweight for sure.
