It's easy to run around in a circle, make noise and demand to defund the police. Carrying it out is another matter entirely as Minneapolis in discovering:

Minneapolis homicide totals passed 2019 numbers by mid-August. New York shootings have skyrocketed. San Francisco and others, too :::cough cough Groot! cough cough:::

Defunding is easy
First assign a dollar amount to every crime. Murder 1000, Armed Robbery 750, Burglary 500. Etc
Criminals then come to the City Council, and under oath, state what crimes they would have committed.
The defund money is then paid to them, not to commit those crimes.
If they get paid and still commit a crime....well......we get cross with them.

It's pretty eye opening, isn't it? The enormity of the mismanagement of America's public education system. Heck, for $150k I'd be willing to sign up. Engineer with a penchant for history and good writing skills means that I can cover all the bases, and I break libertarian politically so any indoctrination I impart would most likely begin and end with "use critical thinking skills when authority figures say things, and you'll be fine." STEM guys like me don't want anything to do with the current system because, for all that money being thrown around, the pay isn't very good compared to what a technical professional with marketable skills can make in the private sector. This is a big problem, probably an even bigger problem than the political crap because someone has to drive the Western economic engine or the entire planet is looking at another dark age.
Defund CPS !! Withold your taxes that go to them. No school = No pay.

My daughter went to a Catholic grade school on the Northwest side. Tuition with fund raising was about $6,600 a year. The archdiocese provides nothing. The all girls high school comes out to about $14,000, when you are done paying for everything. We pay this on top of our taxes so our daughter will not have to sit in some socialist classroom to be brainwashed. She will not need to go through the gauntlet of general population to pass from one class to another. Somehow private schools can do this at almost a third of the cost of CPS.
The person I would love to hear from is General Flynn. Flynn, a three-star general, lifelong Democrat, worked in the Obama administration for two years and than he was abruptly fired. He switches parties and is the first high ranking official to support Trump and one of the first one hired by Trump. What did he see or hear when he was working for Obama. He knows where the bodies are buried and he was starting to track down money being funneled away by people in the CIA and FBI. Get ready for official swiping to be tied to payroll and begin in 2021. So the reason swiping tied to payroll was not working is that CPD was using an old software for payroll that would not allow swiping to be tied to payroll. The rest of the city is on the new software. The new software has the rest of the city getting paid on the 7th and 22nd of every month. The CPD software only allowed it to work on 1st and 16th and swiping couldn’t be integrated into the old system. So now, in the SGTs, Lts and Captains just ratified contract the arbitrator ruled that they are to be put into the new system. Those unions were just notified that the pay dates will officially change beginning with a new check starting on 7feb2021. After that, those unions will now be in the new system. Since the arbitrator already ruled for those three unions the FOP contract will have the pay set into the new system since we are one department. So according to finace, once the FOP contract is ratified the city will change the pay dates to the 7th and 22nd within 6 months. My girl in finance also told me that after the fop is switched over that swiping in and out with it being tied to payroll will follow suit another 6 months or so after that.. but knowing the city a year after that is more realistic. So the wheels are in motion and it’s happening. Look for swiping to be into full effect and tied to payroll in the next 18-24 months department wide.

Life long resident and parent I have seen over the last 30 years teachers strike on a regular basis “for the children” (bullshit)! Degrade the schools, bring down standards, and discipline to where a large number of CPS graduates can’t read or count their toes. I worked in the 001st district for a couple years where CPS held regular protests. I have responded to many school jobs by teachers and principals because of “unruly children” only to have complaints alleged against me and other officers. Truth is while telling me they support me, I have been spit at, verbally excoriated, and hit with union protest signs and other objects. In my 26 years I have locked up many teachers and administrators for various felonies and misdemeanors to include drug related offenses and sex with students(rape). In one occasion a teacher was having gay sex in a bathroom next to a park district bathroom with strangers. I looked past a lot of this, understanding that everyone should not be condemned for a few, even though it’s more than a few. Now with teachers not wanting to open the schools is the straw that broke the camels back. If you follow the demands, they are calling for socialism reforms in order to open the schools, holding the education of our children as hostage. IT IS NOT “for the children!
That's over $20,000 per student! Give that out in voucher form and let the parents choose from private schools that will actually teach these kids how think, not what to think. It will also hold these schools more accountable. Don't do a good job teaching? bye bye! Unlike the CPS way where you're geographically jailed unless you hit the lucky lottery or know somebody.

I think the parking tickets are fine the way they are. They definitely have the effect of deterring future violations.
When a person adjust their driving and parking behaviors, they'll notice a significant drop in the citations they receive.
So, if a person isn't speeding, then they won't receive speed camera citation. If a person is careful approaching an intersection, they won't receive a red-light citation. If people are mindful of where they Park, such as fire hydrants and tow zones and bus stops, then they won't receive these citations.
You can't blame the citation writer for the irresponsible choices of the vehicle operator.
Even when the school reopen, much of the " education" in the public schools can still be given virtually. There is no need to have a history teacher, example, for every school. One history teacher for 10 schools and the learning given over the internet and broadcast into the classroom. maybe a teacher's aide can sit in the classroom. The union thinks e-learning is very effective, then lets take their word for it
What percentage of teachers salaries end up being paid to CTU and SEIU for union dues? What was the actual cost for CTU and SEIU union related work performed by union reps and leadership that was paid for by Chicago taxpayers?
They are claiming a 15% increase in graduation today. They claim an 85% graduation rate. I would LOVE to test a few kids. 1/4 of the kids that I graduated from Bogan with could not read "The Cat in the Hat" without assistance. What a joke.
I don't feel that I received a $20,000+ education at CPS. I value their education at about a nickel.
