Hey SCC, Can we also talk about the lack of equipment the department has. Officers are out there on foot without a car, without radios and without tasers. What happens if a shitbag with a knife comes up and a copper has to blast him because he/she isn't able to possibly use other force options?
Example, The copper in 015 who took one to his vest earlier this summer, it took over a minute to get that unit help because the officers partner came in on a personal radio calling the 10-1/shots fired. Dispatchers assumed it was a rogue radio and didn't immediately get units rolling. Now imagine if that vest didn't stop that round, now we're wasting time getting units to help the officer/s and cfd rolling to transport/treat an injured officer.
These bosses truly don't care about the officers under them. It shows every week these 12 hour days / RDO canceled are allowed to go on.

The city and state had done some funny financing deals (sound familiar?) that put bankers on paper ahead of pensions and other creditors, late in the game.
A Federal magistrate was persuaded to undo that and put the funny financing deals behind the bankers etc. Its pretty complex, but basically the Federal courts that supervise municipal bankruptcies are not particularly unfriendly to labor based on at least this.
Plus, if Chicago went into bankruptcy, there are pretty large parts of the city that could be cleared and sold to developers. To pay its debts, Chicago might have to move out the Democrats.

I am on a beat car (late start). If they ask me for activity, then they are not getting anything. They can squeeze the people who are very well taken care of (the people who conduct fake traffic stops to avoid jobs, take lunch through the PDT so the lunch is extended, never get stuck with a late job, and so on). Once upon a time I would have been motivated to be productive, but you new guys have to understand how the game is played and the the supervisors use you as a tool.

It's impossible to police following the general orders exactly. The very act of approaching youth and saying "hey, come here!".....will result in a foot chase or escalating confrontation. So I can only speak for Lt Giambrone and no one else on the list. He has never NEVER pushed us to get numbers for numbers sake. He encourages us to do our job the right way when we have to do our jobs. He backs and takes care of his people. He is a great boss. when my family travels we like to turn on the local television station to see what is going on in the city we are passing through or staying at. Usually just small town stuff, car accidents, etc. Think about someone visiting Chicago and turning on the 10pm news, murder, mayhem, riots, protests, downtown looks like Beirut, lakefront, restaurants closed, BLM, graffiti. Who the hell would want to visit this shithole? You wouldn't want to leave your hotel and you especially would not want to be out when it is dark.

Hey SCC, Can we also talk about the lack of equipment the department has. Officers are out there on foot without a car, without radios and without tasers. What happens if a shitbag with a knife comes up and a copper has to blast him because he/she isn't able to possibly use other force options?
Example, The copper in 015 who took one to his vest earlier this summer, it took over a minute to get that unit help because the officers partner came in on a personal radio calling the 10-1/shots fired. Dispatchers assumed it was a rogue radio and didn't immediately get units rolling. Now imagine if that vest didn't stop that round, now we're wasting time getting units to help the officer/s and cfd rolling to transport/treat an injured officer.
These bosses truly don't care about the officers under them. It shows every week these 12 hour days / RDO canceled are allowed to go on.

Bad example. The dispatcher, and everyone else thought it was a rogue radio, because all night long coppers were fucking around on the radio. You can say it wasn't our own people, but everyone knows it was. It happens every night on zone12. And it was seconds before everyone realized what it was. The offender was in cuffs within 4 minutes of the shooting.
And your issue with the lack of equipment..This department hires people who can't speak English fluently enough to pass the Illinois drivers license test in it. Seriously. Do you think their grasp of the written language is any better? It's not.
