Shots Fired
No hits, assailant in custody, gun recovered:
A Chicago police officer fired a shot at a person who was allegedly holding a gun during a foot chase Friday in Edgewater Beach.
Officers approached two males who were drinking suspected alcoholic beverages in an alley just after 9 p.m. in the 5200 block of North Winthrop Avenue, Chicago police said.
The males ran and during the pursuit an officer saw one of them was holding a gun, police said. The officer told the suspect to drop the gun but the suspect turned around and raised it instead.
The officer fired a shot which did not strike the alleged gunman, police said. The suspect was taken into custody and officers recovered the weapon.
The usual liberals will whine this was all over some drinking in the alley. And if some liberal had gotten stuck up in a crime of opportunity ("Gee, we're out of beer, we're here in a dark alley with a pistol, let's go get some money for more beer") they'd whine police didn't stop the initial drinking.
It's good that it ended as it did. Nice pinch Officers.

How can you shoot at someone for merely allegedly holding and raising a gun, while running away from you, probably jogging. He wasn't even running at you - the equivalent of a twelve-year-old "journalist" would like to know. Well?
If the cop's shot had killed him I would have said "nothing of value lost" .

Blue Cards for YOU? The TSS cards originated with obama who thought the police were racially profiling drivers. After 20 years they are still attempting to find racial profiling that doesn't exist. The TSS Card is and has been the new Contact Card and I'll bet a months pay that the percentage of Blue Cards have gone up 100's of percents year over year since the Contact Card turned into the ISR.
Why should officers go out and risk the traffic stop that might turn into an incident in which the officers have to use some type of force that will turn into the next police brutality event? Nah, it sounds to me like these old timer dog asses know exactly what time it is....and it isn't time to do proactive police work.

I, a rather average civilian, prefer that such stories end with “the uniformed officer fired at the felon with accuracy, and it is expected that the felon will recover sufficiently to use a wheelchair, eventually.”
If you had an illegal gun, were drinking in an alley and had the idea of shooting the cop who called you out, you already have or will soon attack some average civilian.

I’ve seen the manpower numbers dwindle to next to nothing in 020 and I hope they realize they we are forced into sticking up for ourselves real soon.
