The Implicant Bias class being given by the ACLU is being recorded through Microsoft Teams.
The second the “training” begins every written statement, along with audio and video of the participant is being recorded and uploaded to a platform.
One of the big questions is whose platform is this “training” being uploaded to, the City’s or the ACLU’s and who has access to these recordings. The fact that we are not being asked for consent, let alone told that we’re being recorded is beyond intrusive.
To anyone who is going to training, turn off your camera, make a supervisor tell you to turn it back on and when they do, take note of their name and star. If you do choose to engage in the discussion, just be aware that any statements you make are subject to FOIA and may be used against you in future civil, administrative, or disciplinary hearings.
What is happening is not training. Training is supposed to be a place where mistakes are made and learned from. The entire premises of training is to use mistakes as a tool to enhance learning by providing important feedback. Training is not meant to be an opportunity for a bunch of police haters to lob loaded questions at Officers in hopes of getting that “gotcha” moment. There is no other company that would be allowed to spend 8 hours telling their employees that they are pieces of shit, under the guise of “training.”
If this is what passes as training, then maybe CPS should have training for teachers on how not to rape children.
Being recorded without consent? In Illinois? By a hostile entity (ACLU) which will then sue the City for training we were required to go through?
We're hearing a lot of cash registers ringing all of the sudden, but we aren't sure who is cashing in.

Ask to be given a direct order to be sent there. Keep a journal, including every star# and name of every supervisor involved before, during, and after. Do the same for any non-sworn personnel involved, including non-CPD personnel.
Do not say a word when there. Do not sign anything. Inform any supervisor they need to write on any document, "refused to sign".
Study the orders and rules/regulations. They will save your butt.

Many companies are doing this training. It’s called “CRT” critical race theory or critical race training or some other “its all whiteys fault” bullshit. It’s been proven that this type of training just decides the races even further.
The sensitivity training or "equity" or whatever buzzword they choose, my bet is "systemic racism" is getting to be fairly commonplace at schools. It is a rather uncomfortable in-service for teachers and basically told we are doing things wrong and it needs to be fixed based off the color of our skin.

The people giving it are teaching it remotely, from their homes while you sit at a computer in a deteriorated school. It's like how the teachers are "educating" these days. Zoom, Go To Meetings, Microsoft, all these remote meeting platforms have the ability to record the meetings.

This was all tried and tested in the military. It started in the 80s, right after Affirmative Action was implemented. We were forced to attend "Equal Opportunity" classes every single year. Every single year, one of our guys would stand up and ensure that the instructor covered the most important part of the training that they always try to skip. Being a racist is not illegal, it really is that simple. We would MAKE the instructor admit that fact in class.
NOBODY can tell you who to like, NOBODY can tell you who to hate. Nobody can tell you how to think. It is pure Fascism. When you point this simple fact out, the instructors have to admit that it is true. It is part of their training, they just omit it.
After the training, we would go to the chow hall and sit at tables with our friends and coworkers. We all sat with people of our own race. We all got along fine and we all agreed that the training was a huge waste of training time.

This happens not just once a year but now several at the schools in the burbs. They sit everyone in the room and its basically a bash on white people for 4 hours. It's also presented by some ass from Chicago.

I was offered the "Equal Opportunity Trainer" job at the end of my military career. I was injured and needed "light duty". The training is three months long. There are few, if any, white males. With that certificate, you are eligible to teach for the government and private companies. The salary is 120k to give classes. Yep, these important (dare I say, essential workers?) individuals make double or triple the salary that a new a Cop makes. They never make a single decision on their own, they just parrot the nonsense.
The last time I went through implicit bias training, we were in CD. There weren't any BWCs. Is this new?

Its taught in Zoom type platform. I only remember being told supervisors and above might be "monitoring" but I do not recall being told it was being recorded or for other uses outside of training

The problem is training iS mandatory under the consent decree and they can claim you were trained about this when in reality the class I attended not all the material was presented on screen and there was no hard copy available or no link where to obtain it from like our directives or from the vendor providing the training
This is all minor stuff. The real issue we should be focused on is the contract. Things like pay, insurance, discipline, and manpower. Also keep pushing for 29 years and a day to get the medical even if you’re not 55 years old. Don’t let them distract us from what’s really important. Unless I am really mistaken, recording a meeting needs the consent of all present. Illinois is a two party eavesdropping state.

The training was completed on-line and there is a slide that can be moved to cover the camera lens. The presenters were only as biased as anyone who is not the police can be when asking us to lower our guard when dealing with citizens. You just have to remember that they don't have many bias trainers killed by people they are trying to help. Be courteous, be professional, but be quiet...

You must love Illinois politics. Not many mayors, or now tax payers, will be happy with the governor's statement about licensing police officers. It will cost billions. Many small municipalities will disband due to eventual costs due to uniformity rules.
On top of costs, Chicago's city hall been silent about it, why, for it will legally dispand COPA & the Chicago police board if implemented.
llinois has a dept of licenses through its labor dept etc. The legal precedent on rules has been set with doctors, lawyers, barbers, concelors, & many other professions in court. An officers cannot be fired, they have to find cause to have a licenced revoked or suspended, and the state has to implement ways to be re-licensed, or established rules to break- get this- even if convicted of a felony if it's unrelated to work ( ie bar fights, drunk driving, domestics) reminder, can't be fired - just no pay status until a final determination is made. Nothing is automatic with licensing unless the scenario is documented in rules beforehand ( ie every single scenario must be written out & a response to it as a precedence) . Also, the new police board determining if you lose you'll license ,legally, has to be comprised with a majority percentage of police officers.

I hate her and Sleepy Joe, but in the spirit of transparency (Democrats love that word), she said choke holds and carotid holds, not karate holds. Now the MSM refers to the Minneapolis officer kneeling on Saint George Floyd's neck as a form of carotid hold, which it is not. When I came on the job, we were taught the "L.A. Chokehold" which indeed was a carotid hold, but that was eliminated in the entire country (even L.A.) after the Rodney King incident. The carotid choke hold is pressing on the windpipe, while at the same time, squeezing the carotid artery to restrict blood flow. Works great. I took down many bad guys who were much bigger than me and would have kicked my ass in a knock-down drag out street fight. The irony here is that when most municipalities stopped approving the L.A. Chokehold (which rendered a subject immobile within seconds) they approved methods like kneeling on the neck of a resister as long as you didn't kneel on the carotid artery. If the L.A. Chokehold was still permissible, Saint George Floyd would have been in cuffs and on his way to the police station much quicker than 8 minutes and 45 seconds. I love pointing out the irony of poor liberal democratic policies.

I understand that the NYPD has banned any police officer from holding anyone around the neck or head . Now, when I was active, I was in my share of street fights as few individuals ever peacefully surrendered for arrest. In just about every case when I was alone or there were two of us I had to grab the jerk around the head or neck or I would have lost the fight. Maybe liberal cop haters like Harris should have to actually experience some of this to see what they are really asking. Yes, there have been a few deaths around the country from " choke holds", but usually associated with drug abuse and poor health history aggravated by the hold. Not enough to put cops in danger. All they are going to do is encourage every police officer to stand down and not arrest anyone if they want to fight
I was involved in a law suit some years back when I was still on the job. The outside attorney hired by the city came up with just about everything that I ever put on paper and used this as exhibits. I was grilled about every sentence. Be careful what you write down and these days what you say on any film made at department events or on social media. All of it can be used against you. Attorneys are not nice people. It is all about winning for them at all costs.

I know for an absolute fact that it's being recorded. There was an old timer (white guy with over 30 years on) that dropped an "N- bomb" while arguing with an f1 moderator. This is why the Sgt. in the beginning warns everyone not to use racial slurs. She even says someone got jammed over it. I was told by the supervisor there that they not only recorded the incident, but they had a print out of everything people wrote. So, it's true. The Sargent there freely admits it, so it's not a secret.
