CBS Does Reporting

Looks like Groot's Command Staff was - once again - trying to cover up bad behavior of another connected person:

  • A Chicago Police sergeant has been relieved of her duties after an incident in the fall where she was arrested on charges of striking an Indiana Gaming Commission officer at the Horseshoe Hammond Casino in Northwest Indiana.

Lori Cooper was charged with simple assault and disorderly conduct in the Oct. 30 incident.

A police report obtained by CBS 2 said around 4 a.m. Oct. 30, the casino contacted Hammond police saying two women were in the restroom intoxicated and one of them, Cooper, had battered a casino worker. The casino worker told a Hammond police officer she did not want to seek charges, the police report said.

Cooper and the woman who was with her were then ordered to leave the casino, the police report said. They began walking toward the exit after being told multiple times that they had to leave, and started fighting with each other while doing so, the police report said.

She then slugged a Gaming Commission Officer in the presence of - and on the body cam of - a Hammond Police Officer.

In October.

SeeBS "discovered" this story after our readers did and after Ben Bradley of WGN broke the media embargo on Groot's "transparent" governance appeared as clear as Mississippi river mud.

Are there any connected people that Groot won't cover for?

Damn shame about LC. I guess after years of taking care of seriously injured POs, family and friends of dead POs, creating and running the CIT program, and making her bosses look good, something snapped. I wish her well and hope that she can get the help that she apparently needs.

Ben Bradley, whatever Groot does behind the scenes to make your life miserable you will be seen in the eyes of many of doing the right thing and exposing Truth. This was your job when you signed up for it and maybe others in your profession will find courage and integrity again to report news and not just take their marching orders from the DNC and Groot. Merry Christmas Ben Bradley, Back the Blue

Over the years on this job, I have come to know about numerous "heavy hitters" into gambling. Men and Women. Having worked with them they have spilled their woes over the years, and I am amazed at how much "disposable" income they spend on their "hobby". Everybody needs something to distract from the horrible conditions we work under, but gambling seems self destructive in nature. No less than drinking too much or abusing drugs.

Investigation needs to be done to why so long to the officer was stripped and who knew? Lightfoot, Brown, Carter And more ...why the silence. If they knew and failed to take action for 2 months and now it’s to the level of a officer being stripped it was pretty serious then and action should have been taken. Action needs to be taken against those who knew and failed to take action.

Congress Members To Wear Barcodes So Lobbyists Can Scan Prices, Self-Checkout

WASHINGTON, D.C.—In a move to make purchasing congresspeople easier and faster for lobbyists, Congress voted to approve a new measure that calls for congresspeople to wear barcodes on their foreheads so lobbyists, activists, and corporations can simply scan them and self-checkout.

Self-checkout machines will be installed at all exits of the Capitol Building, so once they've added congresspeople to their cart, lobbyists can pay right on the way out.

"Purchasing congresspeople used to be a time-consuming, expensive process," said a Planned Parenthood representative. "Now, we can simply walk through Congress, scan all the congresspeople that are for sale, and checkout without having to interact with any humans."

"We hate humans---like, a lot," the PP rep added.

One major military-industrial complex lobby group, Americans For Bigger Bombs, said they are also in support of the new move.

"When you need to make a quick pit stop at our nation's legislative body to purchase a few congresspeople to start a new war, you need to do it fast," said one AFBB lawyer. "An attack on Iran can't wait while you wheel and deal, wine and dine, and negotiate endlessly. Now, I can just scan and go."

Gang shootings every day now at Wilson Park, in Arena's old stomping ground. The damage has been done. Accommodating communists is leading to the downfall of the whole area. They are commemorating the death of another member, and using the area to sort out all the differences. This is the direct result of his involvement in politics. By maintaining 5 out of 6 corners vacant and waging a war on property values, he has made everybody's lives less safe. This is the front line of decency. Other areas have been lost forever, but there are just too many good people left behind here. There have been more murders in 16 this year than in the last 5. Things are getting rough around here.

Cooper is a good person. I've known her for years, amd while she has a few isues, none of them are professional. She has put her heart into her work for a long time and has helped manage a lot of the duties in her unit that no one ever wants to do. That shit takes its toll on everyone. Did she mess up, yes, absolutely, but I know her and I will vehemently defend her knowing that the entire incident was the result of a state of intoxication, a condition I will attribute in part to the stresses of her duties. I pray she gets the intervention and help she needs. We would be better off asking that she get help, not crusification. She is an out of the closet gay female that Groot may have had some personal reaction for, but she dosen't use it as a springboard or a crutch. It's her prefered lifestyle, but she has no love, lust or personal interest in Groot or her tyrannical regime. Cooper obviously has developed an unhealthy relationship with alcohol, and resolving that quickly is far more important than prosecuting her for the acts associated with the problem. I'm sure Cooper would be the first to go and apologize and offer her amends, but as any attorney would advise, that is not a legally prudent move, and may actually have some legal ramifications. Hopefully they give her that opportunity one day, she deserves the chance. We talk a lot of shit here, some completely justified, and much of it deserving on a host of topics involving a large variety of morons, over promoted goofs, and the ever increasing level of injustices involving our profession. But, on this occasion, our contempt is misplaced.

This woman knows all the scams left and right to get out of a situation clean as a whistle. Probably immediately made phone calls on her department police phone and inside Hammond lock up to get the ball rolling. Someone probably picked up here undercover police car secretly too from garage. Working at headquarters makes you have friends all the way up the chain of command to the very top. So much for a sergeant having more expectations and be a better example to the troops. Ha. She most likely jumped into some rehab program within minutes and IAD avoided ever serving her because she knew all the big IAD bosses. This would of been swept under the rug if it wasn’t for someone’s tip and SCC reporting. With her diss of Ferguson a couple months back and now the abandonment of Flessner, those allies see just how they have been played. Virtually any other department in USA if you get arrested for felony battery on an on duty police officer, disorderly conduct, resisting police, domestic violence, all caught on body camera and million casino cameras, an investigation takes place in a couple weeks by internal affairs, and your automatically terminated, sometimes way before the conviction in court. Or shortly after the misdemeanor or felony conviction. But in corrupt CPD, the clouted "chosen" cops with connections just enter fake "rehab" and its swept under the rug and get some measly 30 day suspension, and sometimes even a fucking promotion. Fake News Media doesn't cover this! If this was any where else LC would be in the unemployment line in 2021 with an official Termination letter in her hand. But in Corrupt Chicago the "connected" can get get away with murder, shoplifting, child molestation, the list is endless and get a measly couple week suspension because of their fake "addiction". If they had a real alcohol or drug problem, you are supposed to save yourself and get treatment BEFORE, not AFTER the crime! This would not fly anywhere else in any real legit police department. And we wonder why we have so many fuck ups that feel they can get away with anything and are entitled, because they are!

You should see the Horseshoe Casino at about 7am. It's a very depressing place. You can immediately tell who has been there all night and who is trying to get a few bets in before they start work. Gang members pissing and moaning about how they don't like the State run craps game. Gambling destroys lives the same as drugs and alcohol.

Ben will be fine. There will soon be a whole slew of media jobs opening up looking for real journalists wanting to report just the real news. The fake news & their agenda is failing and they will lose the Soros money that has been propping them up.

I'll take you for your word that she is a good person, but there are numerous good persons in this department that have stepped in shit off duty and then were hammered by the city. The point being that there is a two tier discipline system in this department. The connected are taken care of, and the non connected are punished to the extreme by the city. Certainly a morale killer for the troops. That is the powers that be's fault for perpetuating the cover up culture for the connected.
I really hope the Sergeant gets her issues straightened out and she enjoys her pension and retirement years.

I was Amazed to find out this was Lori. I worked with her when she was the LGBT liaison in 023. She will find that it takes time to recover from alchohol, and that recovery programs only work for those that want it, not those that need it. Isn't she kind of old for this? If and when she leaves this job she will have a lot of time on her hands and the alcohol will have her all alone. This job is a good framework for an alcoholic to build a semblance of functionality. When that's gone, it is gloves off , you and the bottle. Being a drunk is a bad look for a woman.

Asshat? Lori Cooper has done some of the most important work on this department. Not guns, not dope and not gang members. She has saved the lives of numerous police officers on this job. She has talked many suicidal officers to not pull the trigger and to come in and help themselves. She has stayed with officers and done a lot of this on her own time. Sat with them at counseling sessions and gotten them into rehab and help centers. She has tirelessly worked for the children of officers killed in the line of duty to make sure they truly are not forgotten. Not like many of you who just say that line or wear a tee shirt with that saying in it... she actually does it. She got into a really bad jam here and alcohol got the best of her. The thing she has saved hundreds of officers from during her career has now gotten her.

Release the body camera, I refuse to defend actions of striking or resisting an on duty uniformed police officer. That is a scum bag move. sugar coat it anyway you want it but are they going to have a fund raiser for a police fighter ? "Get someone that's actually done the job to discuss the job". You mean like the last FOP pres, or the one before that? So you voted for the other guy last time? What do you think of the past spineless useless fop presidents? They would have never stood up and spoke out on important issues. John went down to the council meeting and spoke or tried to speak to the mayor after Groot was elected. Asked some good questions but of course wasn't allowed to speak again because Groot didn't want to answer any real questions. What have you done? He's done fine in the interviews I've seen him do. The past fop presidents remind me of the pussy republicans that just want to go along to get along with city hall not thinking at all about the people they represent. He's got balls, the FOP needs a person in charge not afraid to speak up. Can he solve everything, of course not, look at who he has to deal with. Corrupt scumbag, cop haters like Larry and most all on the useless overpaid city council. The sup couldn't even attend the most important event of the year. Oh right sitting in his car, I forgot. That and the other inept, privileged fools that continue to steer the CPD ship like Mister Magoo drives. People that can figure a way should leave, it's not going to get better.

Hey if you think you can do it better, you run next time. Show us how it's done. But I bet you can't and won't. Do you even attend the meetings? If you have constructive criticism let them know but you just don't like the guy and are mad he won.

1) I did not vote for him, but I will in the future.

2) Standing tall for us is a huge positive. If you have not noticed, he is the only one doing it. And it takes huge stones to do so.

3) All requirements to file for arbitration have not been satisfied because the city has intentionally elongated the negotiation process.

4) He does not bitch at the mayor. He responds to her nonsense. Would you rather he not respond?

5) The democrats control all three branches of Illinois government. Starting the legal process to eliminate the residency requirement would be a waste of time, effort and, most of all, our union's money. If you think we will find a sympathetic ear(s) in any of the three branches, you are naive.

The city is covered by state law, city ordinance, city personnel rules, our contract and our rules and regulations. The city holds all the cards and there is no desire on the city's part to eliminate our residency requirement.

Or do you think, so what, give it a try. Spend the money. Go for it. For a hail mary to work you need somebody in the end zone and we do not even have anybody close to the end zone. You might say it has worked elsewhere. Elsewhere ain't Illinois.

But remember, the one chance President Catanzara had, he challenged Groot to eliminate our residency requirement. The guy you do not like has worked hard for us. He is our best friend.

First, I’m very aware of the process and the politics. I’m not saying defending us in the public forum is bad. It’s obviously good. He just needs to be a little more polished. I strongly disagree about arbitration. We could have filed by now. We are at an impasse right now on nearly all the issues. It’s been almost 4 years! The city turned down all FOPs offers in writing and FOP turned down theirs. JCat even penned a letter to the members that the city did not negotiate in good faith. The Supervisors went to arbitration on a number of issues that they were deadlocked on. We are deadlocked on pay at the very least. As for residency, JCat campaigned on residency as his big issue. It needs to be taken through the courts, not Springfield. Or Lightfoot could eliminate it. Springfield gives Chicago the authority to force residency. It’s up to city hall. Most of the unions that got rid of residency did it through the courts. The point is, JCat said it was his main issue. Soooooo???? I still like JCat better than the others, but I’m a little concerned about our progress. Merry Christmas!

Fuck you cooper. Long time coming asshole! Proud of your gal(?) Tony? BWAHAHAHA! Be a character witness for her Scalise! didnt think so scammer. Both of you.

Not losing her pension, it’s not related to her job dummy

Do penitentiary time, lose the job, no pension. What planet does he live on. Charges will be reduced to misdemeanors, probably just one She will get a few days at best. City Hall hiding this for 50 days tells you where this case is going. Nowhere

For those that want compassion not crucifixion, STFU !!!
There are officers currently stripped working in callback
for “verbal abuse”, but this entitled one deserves better ?!?

The disciplinary system has 2 Tiers
separated by the connected vs non-connected.
And many levels on the connected Tier
based on the amount your amount of juice.

It’s BULLSHIT and should be consistent across the board !!!!

3) All requirements to file for arbitration have not been satisfied because the city has intentionally elongated the negotiation process.

Gonna call BS. He can and SHOULD have filed for arbitration when he took over. The only "requirement" is that both parties are at a stalemate, can no longer negotiate any contract items and all negotiations have stalled. He sabre rattles nicely and is loud, but is doing nothing for the members. The only thing he is doing by stalling is keeping the retiree medical the same until a new contract is reached.

Be aware of a back loaded contract. The city will cry poor when it come to backpay, more than likely, the arbitrator will side with the city.

12/23/2020 10:58:00 AM

That's your opinion, while others say she has been a pompous, entitled know it all and knew she had clout. Either way she shouldn't be given any special treatment. This happened in October and it's just coming out now? Can't see the same thing happening to the average beat cop. Asked to leave like 100 times in the period of an hour, but feel she can do as she pleases, even to the point of assaulting an officer? That's not what a good person does. A booze soaked brain can do plenty of stupid things, but she is no kid and should have realized it was time to go and done as they asked. Nothing will happen to her but imagine the non-clouted beat cop with too much booze in his/her system doing the same thing and there would be no 50 day waiting period. And what about Sgt Mohammad that shot the kid, nothing but a slap on the wrist for that jerk. A joke two tier system in CPD. Much like the way the politicians treat the people today. Rules for thee but not for me.

Apparently you are not aware. Nearly all is not all and that means the negotiation process is still ongoing. Arbitration is not yet available to us.

Go through the courts? Do you honestly think the Illinois supreme court, which is controlled by the democrats, is somehow going to side with you on the issue of residency? If you do, you are a softball.

I am tired of trying to point you in the right direction. You are going to believe what you want to believe. It is apparent you have a hard head. Mic drop. I'm out.

Does anyone know where to get 9mm ammo. Cabelas and Bass Pro are out and they don't know when they get their shipment of ammo and it goes automatically. The only way to get some is to tell the salesperson to put a few boxes on reserve and slip them a 20 dollar bill. Worked for me in the past but my guy no longer works there.

If they ship bullets by mail, do you pay a biohazard tax if it goes to illinois?

And you should come back to reality as well. A civilian with no institutional knowledge is horrible for us in an administrative position. How many civilian employees with Chicago's prestigious hiring platform have actually done their jobs and been competent? Have you met one yet?

Look what is going on now. Lightfoot is bringing in civilians because we are too stupid to run ourselves. How are you liking it?
Typing, cleaning, etc...Sure hire a civilian. Everything else should be sworn positions.

According to somebody else's post she was too stressed due to too much work in her unit. Way to de-stress!

Most of administrative/inside spots could be filled by civilians. Send the majority of the sworn back into beat cars. A touch of reality would "destress" them.

How dare you defend her drunken violent behavior. Because she talked a cop off the edge gives her a free pass to "get into a really bad jam while being drunk"??? You do realize that being drunk on or off duty is the first cpd rule she violated?

There are so many silent heroes on this department that have no rank, no clout to achieve rank, and do not kiss ass to find clout. And none of these silent heroes get drunk on or off duty because they don't break the rules. Every fucking day of their 30 plus year career, they manage to always follow the rules. It's a choice.

If she can't recognize that she has a drinking and anger management problem, then she shouldn't be in the specialized unit that she is in, let alone be on this job.

smart, but not a parking guru like me years ago. Uncle Tom always taught us to be good city workers like he always was. He took other
Jobs running city departments for little pay like a true Byrne. He got too old to help
the city any longer. He skimps on buying nice things for himself and knowing 4 pensions does let you to live like a human just above poverty
income. Uncle Tom has always been a giver! You all remember when he was a
a chief with CPD ! He worked so hard because Mayor Daley asked him to work
so many top jobs after retirement from CPD. He saved millions of dollars cutting costs for mr. Daley.
Uncle Tom always helped the blue shirt police. Uncle Tom had niece Lori over for Popeyes chicken for Xmas. Over a few
Drinks we all played pin the tail on the donkey. Dear Uncle Tom was the Donkey. We laughed. Lori got relaxed and Uncle Tom told her
she should go home and go take the curse program and relax and she can retire with a pension
And Uncle Tom can get her another city job. Us Byrne blood are legends in CPD.
Be cool all, I will try and post more.
