He helpfully included the Hammond PD mugshot.
And then a Christmas Miracle happened.
A fan of ours reminded Bradley taking stories from the blog means making a simple contribution of $50 to the Chaplains Fund as an expression of thanks for making their job easier. Guess what Ben Bradley of WGN did?
Well. We're pretty much speechless. For years, the media has been trolling the blog for stories, but refusing to link back to us and properly credit the source. We almost always link back to the source of our stories - see the highlighted blue text up top - except in the case of Mope-rah or the Sun Times wife beater. It's common courtesy. The $50 donation was a dig at the media who couldn't be bothered to do actual investigative work any more.
A few weeks ago, almost every media outlet credited us for the Tunney story - a rarity for certain.
But Bradley actually contributing to a cause that ought to be near-and-dear to every Chicago cop? That isn't a rarity - that has just never happened.
So we are forced to do something equally rare in return - Thank You Ben Bradley of WGN and a Merry Christmas in return.

i like Ben. met him once briefly long ago, he came up to my police car when i was sitting around on a detail and gave me a magazine to read to pass the time. this was pre smart phones so it helped. seemed like a decent guy.

SCC clearly scooped the Political Hacks and Suckholes that pass for Journalists in Chicago on this one,but what is the rest of this story. The incident happened in October, almost two months ago. And if SCC had not printed the story, would Lori had gotten away with her Conduct Unbecoming? Make no mistake about it, Sgt Cooper is a Heavy Hitter at Headquarters. She is White in a Spot that would normally be held by a Minority member. She has always been high visibility, going back to when her and her partner were leaders in getting Domestic Partner Benefits, even before that partner got on the job! So here are two questions that go unanswered: 1. Did Lori fail to notify CPD of contact with an outside Law Enforcement Agency. If so she is looking at 30 Days Pending Separation. Or 2. Is Lori so Heavy, that her Cabal at Headquarters Covered-Up for her? Whatever the case, its time for Lori to turn in the keys on that take home car! Stay Safe and Strong. Baby "G"

Holy cow! Did we finally find the very rare and only honest and fair reporter in Chicago? Well then I say thanks to Ben for being decent. We just don’t see it anymore in the media. Now Ben can you do a piece on CPD going without a contract for nearly 4 years with no end in sight? How the mayor gave everyone a contract even CPDs own supervisors and dispatchers but not the troops in the trenches every day.

Well, it was nice that Ben Bradley donated the $50 to the Chaplain's fund. Bravo.
Unfortunately, that doesn't change the fact that the media has effectively been drained into and absorbed by the sewage that is the Chicago political dystopia. The media bias nationally, especially the shameful actions of most of the major media outlets and their collaborators (or should I say masters?) in the social media and tech stratosphere, is what we've seen in Chicago on a daily basis for at least the last 20 years, maybe longer. They have effectively become the propaganda arm for the Democratic Party.
In an age where Andrew Cuomo can pick up an Emmy lauding his work during the pandemic, while completely ignoring that he sentenced thousands of elderly people to death with his rash and uninformed executive order that herded them into nursing homes with little or no protection, it's clear that the media has abdicated any moral or journalistic high ground they thought they might have possessed. With the exception of reliable, alternative news sources, you heard not a peep from the media. Nothing but crickets. The Hunter Biden story, of course, speaks for itself. It's just a shame most of the country couldn't have learned about it before the election, where instead it was squashed by Twitter and discounted or ignored by most of the major outlets.
So let's not put Ben up for canonization just yet. Paying the fine was great, but him and the rest of the media clowns will keep on going out and committing the same journalistic crimes that essentially enable the county and city's politburo to run roughshod over everything and everybody.

Why it take this longgggggg for her to be stripped? That is the story here! Typical clouted cops and bosses get away with anything, no repercussions- no punishment- no consequences for ANYTHING. If this was a non-clouted blue shirt he would of been stripped of all powers and star within mere hours of incident, and IAD would have showed up at HAMMOND Police Department, 100%. Second part of this story, did she have her take-home CPD car that she's had for 20 years with her at the casino? Why no charges for domestic violence of her lesbian partner? Why no official misconduct charges? This has been under the radar for some time, and she is spending lots on attorneys to cover this one up because she knows she fucked herself up big time. Did everyone forget she is reason why the 1st gay pride chicago police float she was represented back in the early 90's, she got stoned cold drunk in uniform and embarrassed herself directly in front of the then police superintendent? LC, you think we forgot about that?

I have known Ben Bradley for twenty years . He has always been a reporter who is fair with a story . I talked to him in length about having Channel 9 come out to Washington during police week in April . He did numerous interviews with the widows of police officers in which four Chicago Police officers were honored . He showed the other side to policing and what happens when a police officer makes the ultimate sacrifice . Ben Bradley is a class act and a reporter who isn’t a police basher. We have far too many of the other side who make of living and show on a daily basis how much they hate the police . Ben have a great Christmas and thanks for being always telling “ both “ sides of the story !

Sad that this occurred in October and it’s come to light now. Why did it take so long to come to light? Who in the CPD was aware and failed to take action? Did Brown, Carter and Lightfoot know about this in October and November and did nothing. Now it’s in the media and the officer is stripped. Lightfoot will say she made a mistake and her Carter and Brown will be fine and then heads will roll and others stripped or demoted.

Let's hear her side of the story. Dont know her but what she does in the police department cannot be easy. She has been the behind the scenes face for the police tragedies for years. I assume she is competent at what she does. I wish her luck and hope there is more to the story that goes in her favor. If not she should face department discipline without any quarter in regards to her status within the department .
Is she heavy? She has been a Sgt for a long time when some of her people had the power to promote her. I wonder why she has never moved up the food chain? Maybe they knew her gambling and drinking problems would come back to bite them.

Well I’ll be dipped in shit before I give too much respect to our Chicago journalists. I met the original Orange Man (Pat C) on a crime scene once long ago and made a remark about CLTV and he casually gave me an eye roll and said “Oh you mean Children Learning Television” and we all got a good chuckle over that one. That was one of my very few brushes with greatness on this job over my not so stellar career where I’m still it seems running in place to the finish line.
My wife and I met Ben Bradley in the Hone Depot store in Countryside several years ago. He is a class act.

She’s actually a great woman. Helps tons of on and off duty police officers who have bad life and suicide problems. She’s peer support and does a TON for the families of officers who have died in the line of duty. It’s a shame she had to be made out to look like a villain on social media and on this blog. She was wrong. But maybe now she can get help For an alcohol addiction she has been fighting on and off. I know she’s great because I was put in the program after suffering from depression about 7 years ago and she was a god send. I’m not the only one she helped. Another victim of the blog and it’s sensational comments of people who don’t know her. She screwed up, no excuses. But she’s not the A hole you’re making her out to be. And no, she wasn’t in a department vehicle, she was on her 13B furlough and off duty.
Hope you don't lose your job Ben. She can be very vindictive and petty. Keep up the good work and maybe some other reporters come back to the world of truth and facts but I'm not holding my breath.

Really? Why do you need someone else to donate in order for you to donate? I'm not trying to tell you or anyone else how to spend their money, but you seem willing and able to donate, and you're relying on an extremely unlikely scenario to actually donate yourself. It almost sounds like you wouldn't donate a cent no matter what happens. Nice attempt at being seen as a charitable person though. Did you think that sounded good for you when you posted it?

Give it a rest. If this was anything but a coverup for one of the untouchable bosses that know the right people and check off a few diversity boxes, you would've heard her side months ago. Instead, you'll get a bunch of lies about why this wasn't covered earlier, and they'll still try to cover for her as best they can. Then maybe they'll promote and hide her. You're either extremely naive, or just plain stupid. I hope there's more to the story that makes her and her protectors look even worse, with firing and discipline as necessary. And never assume someone in the CPD is competent at whatever their job is just because they've been put in a position and have been doing it for years. This department seeks out and rewards incompetence at every opportunity, often covering up for that incompetence, including promoting the incompetent after multiple scandals, ranging from immoral to unethical to straight up criminal.

@benbradley. Look into why crimesha office continues to hire asa's approximately 30-40 during pandemic, and several executive positions when there are few if any cases going forward to prosecution. In addition, the investigations bureau of the states attorney office hired 4 investigators at the end of March and an additional 8 in November. The investigators are "working from home" because there isn't any work for them. So 12 investigators were hired and immediately stay home and do nothing. How is that fiscally responsible?

Nice Work SCC!! So, the ‘Intelligence Section’ officers didn’t get paid their OT yesterday because the suck up replacement secretary forgot to send it in. That’s not so ‘Intelligent.’ That suck up PO was too busy demanding big money from other POs to stuff the envelopes for the LT and commander. But don’t worry- no repercussions cause he’s the commanders guy, he will still have his take home Denali or whatever nice department car he wants. What a joke.

This is what always happens when the coverup artists and defenders of the indefensible come crawling out in support of these idiots. They get so concerned with covering up what really happened, and completely forget to fact check even the simplest things in their bullshit stories. Would she even leave her car at work during her furlough? I'm thinking someone as special as she is would still have the car during furlough "just in case" she needs to head in to work. So even the completely fabricated and easily debunked defense is a bit questionable already, if it wasn't total horseshit. Cover everything up with lies and worry about the facts when and if you get called out.
