Putzker's Budget Cuts
One-sixth of what needs chopping....and guess who he blamed?
Democratic Gov. J.B. Pritzker laid out more than $700 million in cuts Tuesday to deal with a projected $3.9 billion budget deficit, contending Republicans need to offer their own plan and blaming them for playing a role in destabilizing state finances even before the pandemic sent tax revenues crashing.
Republicans quickly countered that the budget problems were self-inflicted by Democrats who enacted what Illinois House GOP leader Jim Durkin called a “fantasy budget” that hinged on voter approval of Pritzker’s proposed graduated-rate income tax and a “fingers crossed hope for a federal bailout” that has not materialized.
Republicans haven't had a majority in either chamber since when? Rauner had to "compromise" with dem majorities his entire tenure and then got blamed for Madigan refusing to even pass a budget to veto for years. And it isn't the Right shutting down the State economy via Executive Orders.
And why would the republicans even attempt to put forward suggestions that Madigan and Harmon would tie up in committee or just kill outright? Better to let the dems stew in the disaster of their own making.

As for the governor I am pretty sure that stupid ass rides in a short yellow bus. The rest of the legislature is mostly un-needed wasteful spending that the state could cut payroll and save for the budget...Speaking of payroll, if I understand correctly every employee of the state has been sitting home at full salary because of covid shutdowns. As for cutting spending now, that shows the governor and the legislators are all special and need to be riding in the short bus...this money problem has been ignored for the last 30+ years by the majority rule democRATS!!! There lies the problem, LIARS!!!
Pritzker knows the democratic voters he favors are too stupid to realize he is bullshitting them by blaming Republicans for the crisis. They actually belive him. Morons in this state. Perfect for the likes of Pritzker and Lightbrain.

3.9 billion? The Pricksters could easily cover that and still be billionaires. Then JB could be the hero of the people that he pretends to be. What could be better than being the financial savior of your state while acting as its governor? They would talk about him for centuries. They'd build statues of him, once enough materials could be amassed to account for his considerable heft. Imagine the jobs that could be created just to build the statue. Surely it would take hundreds of workers several months to complete.

It is pretty comical for Gov. Fat Fuck to blame Republicans who haven't been in the majority for decades. That said I bet I could go through the state budget and find $3.9 billion in cuts. Look at each department of the state, what their budget is and how they are staffed. No question in my mind that you would find 3.9 in political hack jobs on the payroll in no time. JB the Hut won't do that though he will go for maximum pain to try and punish.

The budget line items to be cut seem almost deliberately selected to evoke sympathy and opposition, and therefore are likely to change.
Human services are at the top of the list with the biggest cuts, yet those probably enjoy the most public support – for good reason. Maybe that’s an effort make to tax increases more palatable, which are likely to be added to the mix. If that suspicion is right, priorities may change as additional measures are negotiated.
Our view is that any new taxes might raise additional revenue initially, but in the longer term they will accelerate flight of people and employers from the state, further impairing the tax base and reducing all revenue forms. Only a credible, long-term plan will reverse that.

Illinois’ population has dropped by nearly 170,000 since 2010 and few of the state’s counties have been spared from those losses, according to the most recent U.S. Census data. In all, 93 of the state’s 102 counties shrunk between 2010 and 2019.
Cook County lost nearly 49,000 people during the decade, the most of any county in Illinois. Winnebago and St. Clair counties were next, with losses of 12,500 and 10,700 respectively.

In other words, Illinois is hemorrhaging cash every day from its welfare giveaways (aka "reparations") though which the Democrats use taxpayer dollars to buy votes in the community and keep their friends rolling on the freebie train.
Because no one in Illinois (voters included) wants a balanced budget (see Rauner "budget war" years), the state has to borrow money to meet basic daily operating expenses. "The state treasurer spent $4.9 billion, nearly all of which went to debt service." That means the state pays out more than $13M A DAY in interest on money it borrows just to keep the lights on. Keep that figure in mind when the Fibune and Slum-Times crow about the cannabis "tax windfalls" that aren't even enough to cover 2 weeks' worth of interest.
And Fatass doesn't have a clue. When he's not corrupt, he's incompetent. Just look at how badly he runs IDES. Every thief in the country is filing fake unemployment claims to Illinois now, and why not? IDES is sending out debit cards loaded with thousands of dollars to anyone who files a fake claim. They have no problem handing money to criminals, but can't even answer their phones.

Illinois received almost $5 Billion in CARES Act bailout and JB Pigfluenza managed to pass all that unaccountable cash out to friends and donors discretionary new Covid related expenses (yeah, sure) and pissed away that entire sum and the State is no better off than we were before the Chinese Plague. Fact is IL is always worse financially than previous year since 2000.
This covids scam not only was a boom to select hotels (Hyatt Schaumburg got $3 mil to house 150 or so recuperating infected guests), money to Chinese-made PPE supply chain third party brokers (no invoices?) and of course the addition of subcontractors to mend the sick, pop-up tent hospitals, storefront clinic testing, 501[c] community based awareness programs, and also the establishment of brand new IL gubmint Covid departments, chiefs and administrative aides.
JB (and his out of state income) isn’t doing this to insure a re-election bid. He’s wants to be ousted so he can cash in on some desolate shuttered downtown properties all the while rolling the dice and stalling that income tax mail fraud mansion toilet scheme he blamed his wife (can’t testified against him) for arranging.
Is there a separate ledger for the CARES Act money or was it all mashed up into one general account? Like Chicago’s $470 million stipend that Larri managed to piss away in 5 months, everyone’s gubmint pocketbook is empty but still manages to keep spending.
Cuting $700 million is a drop in the bucket when you think the generous JB (D- IL) spent $5 billion faster than any of his proposed budget cut to essential services.
The republicans in this state have no interest in ever winning any state-wide offices again, not like they could win anyway with all the ballot-stuffing and computer fraud.
Heck, many of these republicans went along with the tax increases a few years ago and will gladly go along again when it's on the table. Carve out some concessions for big business and throw the rest of the people under the bus. That's the Illinois GOP. Panderers, liars, thieves, creeps, etc.... The few decent republican officials and candidates get smeared by their own party (just ask Jennie Ives).
Illinois is an "escape from" state. There is no fixing this place, not ever. Let it collapse, just make sure you don't own property here when it does.
