Eric Murfitt watched helplessly from a live security feed as looters trashed his downtown clothing store, Mercantile, during a riot on May 30. Murfitt said the business suffered $1 million in losses due to the break-in and had to file an insurance claim to stay afloat.
But in November, Murfitt was informed that his insurance carrier would not be renewing the store’s policy. Nearly a dozen other insurance companies declined to even offer Mercantile a quote.
So earlier this month, Murfitt settled for a policy that nearly quadrupled his premium, had a significantly higher deductible, included a much smaller cap on coverage related to robbery and excluded any property damage related to civil unrest.
“We’re effectively uninsured right now,” Murfitt said. “And we’re paying four times as much for the privilege.”
Insurance Companies don't exist to lose money, and the trend for libtards, race baiters, and social justice warriors is to say, "Hey, they're insured. Loot away!" is about to meet a cold hard reality.

A couple of years ago, on The View, Joy Behar actually said it was okay to steal because 'they're insured'. On a national talk show, this woman, who was obviously raised by wolves (no, even wolves are better parental role models) tells a rabid national audience it's okay to steal because insurance companies will cover it.
One of the cohosts faintly protested that 'we' pay insurance premiums and 'we all will pay more' if insurance companies incur losses. She got the face-palm.
A simple return to the principles of the Ten Commandments would be refreshing right about now. No need to preach religion, just teaching some basic, decent values would suffice.
Business owners need to read the fine print in those policies. Most of them require a viable police force be in place, wherever that business is located. No police force (or no fire department) and that policy costs a ton more, or might not be in effect at all.
In other words, places that are dismantling or understaffing their police departments may find themselves uninsurable at ANY price.

I believe minimum wage should be $20, no make it $30, or $50 ... fuck ... let’s make it a cool $100 an hour. Now that’s a livable wage! Not long ago the idea of standing in line for bread would of seemd crazy, but look at UK they are advising food warehouses and stores to stock up,and bulk up because they see the future under demonic rule!

Why have we been pushing a paperless world? To save trees, are we really running out of trees? Technology and recycling has been working right? No, paperless means data and a way to track you and as we have seen through this election, if it electronic we can manipulate the results.

While Chicago's most expensive rental property slowly goes vacant, ghetto properties rented to the State have not missed a single rent payment. If you want to know why everything is the way it is realize that the worst areas of the city have the highest percentage of residential properties rented to the State of Illinois and the United States Government. It's a money farm, and while they get all the corn, all we get are the cobs. You know where they go.
Who owns all those buildings? That's who you're working for.
Who gives them all their shots and patches them up when they get shot? That's who you're working for.

Concur with comments by Hydra at 0030/1230 AM above RE: Federally sponsored Property & Casualty Insurance for otherwise uninsurable business property. Precedent is there with FEMA sponsored Flood Insurance. ( NOTE: I am using the word “sponsored” in the sense of done sort of US Government approval or backing; the Policy will probably be issued by a Private Insurer who receives some financial benefit from US and/ or State Government).
The REAL ISSUE is this: IF Feds get involved in insurance, this will give Feds critical Leverage in two areas: Zoning ( Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing) AND Building Codes ( Energy Efficiency).
The Liberal Housing Fantasy and Goal is East Germany in 1970s: 900 square foot apartments with cold water only and no air conditioning ( not needed in East Germany) and limited heating.
Instead of spending thousands every year for insurance with ultra high deductibles, spend the money to fortify the front and rear of the business to make it near impossible for looters to gain entrance. You can also add automatic tear gas foggers inside the store just in case

This is already here - a neighbor owns an industrial outfit where the insurance has skyrocketed from 16K/year to - we no longer provide coverage to Chicago - and was finally able to find someone to insure his business for 65K/year.
They are on the south side of the city - not even down town.
