No Desk Sergeant, no early sergeants.
1711, 1713, 1731 down on the early side; 1722, 1772 down on the late side. No wagon unless a beat car is doing both jobs. 50% unmanned.
But 1740 is headed downtown with three cars.

OT, but what’s up with that dispatcher who used to work Z12 commenting on how he handled a recent ODPO involved shooting, making comments on how he feels about the incident. Are OEMC employees able to make comments about on going investigations? I know he made a post in the past about having hard feelings towards some officers who put him in a trick bag for calling them out about TT to lunch.
Are they waiting until officers get killed to address this?
Imagine how long an officer will have to wait for backup during a 10-1

017 is lacking supervisor coverage. Typical tour shows no DSS and 1 field sergeant. Consent decree right out the window. But hey, let's not miss any training. Is the federal monitor even monitoring any of this?

They can have the afternoons one from Rogers Park on afternoons that red lines tact.

I worked midnights in 017 a few years back and that's almost how bad it was a few years back. The car I was on handled our sector because the other car was always playing tac team in another sector, the other car was always downed and the dogs in one of the cars in the 20 sector rode jobs forever. So, my partner and I got to handle 4 beats most of the night. Every once in a while we'd volunteer to take some crime scene babysitting job to throw a wrench in the works and make the other critters do some work for a change. Between being short handed and the dogs, those nights were pretty busy for us.
the supervisor situation in 017 is just as bad as the po’s. One sgt is all u get per watch. No desk sgt, no early sgt and late sgt. Just one, if you’re lucky. Somehow this is allowed and seems to be ok with the union and HQ?

A recipe for disaster. The WOL should refuse to send anyone downtown and have them kept in the district due to manpower shortages and officer safety concerns. Grow a set and be a real boss not a company man.

But coming from a busy district to 017 I thought I would be living on easy street but I was really surprised. Back logs daily, typical nonsense seen through out the city. Definitely not the slow 017 of old. Bid over and find out, we could use the extra manpower.
Should be the opposite of some of you commenters, who cares about these Westside and Southside "busy" districts. They have chosen their path to destruction. This is a district where many coppers and city employees live. People should be livid. Skeleton crew to protect the home front. Wake da fuck up.

to be fair the one Sgt is under the span of control limits. So they got that going for them.
OT have you heard about this Red House on the west coast? SOme guy bought the foreclosed house for like $260 and the 'indigenous' family won't give up possession and it has become a whole movement for the bustouts. I’m sure the coppers who work there care. It’s not like nothing happens in 017. It’s not the west side, sure, but it’s not 020 either. I dont know if you heard but there was a little gang war there this past summer with some of the Hispanics and bunch of people getting shot. Is this not an officer safety issue? Can a domestic not go sideways because it’s 017? Nothing bad can happen because youre in 017? I just read in the comment section about the sheets in 011, commenter says “who gives a fuck, it’s 011”. We coppers in CPD really need to start learning to give a shit about cops other than ourselves. You got one guy saying who cares because it’s 011, then you’re saying the opposite who cares because its slower in 017. I see too many comments all the time like “who cares if (insert unit) guys got their important family holiday cancelled with 12 hours notice, fuck them thats what they get for working” because too many on this job only care about themselves and their problems. Or “who cares what the ETs complain about they got it easy” That’s until they started cancelling everyone’s days off this year, then it became bullshit to those people. Always care how the city treats your fellow coppers, no matter where they are, because if they treat them like shit, you can bet that treatment is coming your way soon. It’s an officer safety issue, that’s why I care, and I don’t work in 017. That’s why you should care. Don’t be an ignorant dick head.

One post up. Reading is fundamental.
Just a couple of Beats pay some of the highest of the higher property taxes and for years still get the least coverage.
Probably some of the the best OEMC call screening and prioritizing efficiency goes on too. Bet nobody is going to be sent to respond to a “putting up Christmas decorations/no social distancing” 3-D call after sundown on 1711.
Although the south and south central zones of 017’s shitsville always existed, but have seen plenty of robberies and shootings increase like anywhere else, the officer safety issue is being totally ignored.
Don’t expect much even if the Aldermens’ try to complain to the part time mayor/full time imbecile Larri LightLoafer, there will be no significant hiring or manpower adjustments for 2021.

It has nothing to do with the commander. He’s solid. And a realist. It’s city hall. PERIOD! Lightfoot is slashing manpower. She put it in her budget. No secret. Also, city hall created all these 90 day plus details and permanent citywide units. So she’s slashing manpower while also stripping the districts for units. Brilliant! And in daily(smoke and mirrors)training and Covid spreading through the department due to the city not following their own guidelines. The commander is not the problem. The citizens should be made at Lightfoot and their communist alderscum. Lightfoot’s policies are just starting to come home to roost. It will get much much worse when the city can’t attract anyone to take the entry test to be a cop.
It might be slower in 017, but their homicides and shootings doubled this year just like the “busy” districts.

That’s easy to say if u don’t live or work there. Imagine having to fight with someone and having zero backup. Imagine living there and having no police patrolling your area. Take a look at a district map and see how big 017 is, Then tell me that sufficient officers. Look at the increase in crime the last couple years, then let’s talk. Did you see just the other night the off duty involved shooting in 017? It is not what u think it is. There is no help. The ghetto is tripping with officers and outside units. We never get anything. We don’t even have sgts anymore to help us out. You hit the street and you are truly by yourself. Goal is try not to get involved in anything at all because there is nobody coming if u call.
Now retired Lt Jimmy D would have put a stop to this nonsense. People would love to come to work when he was there. Oh how I miss bosses like him, always straight and told you like it was. Always took care of the troops. Would hit the streets, back you up without telling you how to handle the job and even take jobs on his own. If you ever worked for him you know what I mean. Whatever happened to bosses like that?

Wrong. Not “super slow” as you say. Slower than 025 or 011 but it’s become very busy. Big gang war going on and 017 probably has the most auto accidents in the city.

CST at Mccormick doesn't post the sheets probably because the Sergeants are regularly juggling 30+ officers. 12NOV there was ONE Sergeant for SEVENTY ONE officers.

I wasn't intimating how awesome I was because I never was, I was a victim of 017's lack of manpower and was not diminishing the manpower problems right now. I was pointing out it's been like that for years and we were pretty busy a few years ago, also. We handled several beats just like the poor beat coppers are right now. It's an awful situation to work in and I understand how hard they're having to work. Learn how to read, please.

Crime has reached and has been in Sagunash for a while. Read the local newspapers and the community groups websites. Carjackings, shots fired, thefts from cars are going wild.
Idiots discovered they can commit the crime, be on the expressway and be halfway home to the west and south sides before the police arrive at the scene

Take-the captains out of districts m they have no responsibility, do nothing .

Posting on FB how he handled the whole thing and he was happy the officer was stripped because his story didn't pan out. I have a ton of respect for our dispatchers, but the last I checked, they weren't involved in questioning witnesses, determining the validity of statements, or evaluating evidence. How about you keep your trap shut on a public forum and let the investigation go where it leads. OK Kieth? You didn't make it as a cop out west, don't try to play one here.

If this is the case, those annointed in sagunash should start voicing their concerns to the aldermen...I’m just hearing crickets so its on them. Then again, in typical fashion, the aldermen are dropping the ball as well. Viscious circle of nothing getting done. The chicago way. When are the people going to start standing up and mobilizinglike the BLM movement and get the pendulum swinging the other way?? Cry enough and you get heard.
