More stupid from the left coast:
Seattle is considering adopting a law that would excuse suspects from most misdemeanor crimes if they can be linked to poverty, mental illness, or addiction.
The City Council is considering a proposal introduced earlier this year that would excuse suspects of crimes like theft, trespassing, and assault if the suspects are found to be suffering from poverty, a mental health crisis, or addiction.
Seattle would be the first metropolitan area to alter its criminal code in such a way.
We have always wondered what's the attraction of making excuses for criminal behavior. We didn't grow up rich by any stretch of the imagination and we feared a beating if we even thought about stealing something. When we got on this job years ago, we met people who grew up in circumstances far worse than we did, and they never would consider taking something that wasn't theirs or living somewhere they didn't pay for..
Seattle has been trending from shithole to Third World shithole for quite some time now. They keep voting in commies and antifa sympathizers, so it's impossible to feel sorry for them at all.

Why not just abolish all laws? This would free up police to handle traffic accidents, give directions, perform first aid, patrol for fires, and keep them from doing that enforcement-thing that so many people apparently dislike.

For over 50 years the debate has been to either invest in neighborhoods first and crime will leave because jobs and other opportunities will be created OR clean up the crime first and the neighborhood will create its own opportunities while people and businesses will want to invest in the neighborhood. It is clear who won the debate.

I spent 35 years on the job and have now been retired a dozen years. If you really stop to think about our court system in Cook County, this has been going on for all of those years. Very few people are ever convicted or even end up in jail for petty crimes such as assault, battery, shoplifting, theft, possession of drugs. It just does not happen and as far back as I can recall, never happened. The difference now is the wholesale policy of letting people out on no bonds or low cash bonds for serious crimes and the refusal of the states' attorney to prosecute serious crimes

Reminds me on a similar incident several years ago.
A classmate of mine returned to town about 10 years after graduation.
He stopped by our old high school to say hello to some of his favorite teachers.
One of them asked if he would talk to his current classes about what life was like 10 years earlier as well as what he had been doing since.
Understand, my friend was a big guy in school and most of the 10 years since had been spent running his own landscape business.
At the time of this story, he would have given Butkus pause.
The next day, he's there addressing the first class (Junior English for troublemakers)
One kid keeps interrupting, talking to others and generally being an asshole.
The teacher is in the back of the room dying of embarrassment.
After about 20 minutes of patiently ignoring this kid's rudeness, my friend stopped.
He walked up to the kid's desk, grabbed him by the shirt, lifted him clean out of the desk and held him nose to nose (which put the kid's feet about 3 inches off the floor).
In very quiet, calm voice he said, "I don't work here, I don't even live around here and I could HURT YOU if I wanted to."
He then put the kid back down, returned to the front of the classroom and finished his talk without any further problems.
At the end of class, the students quietly gathered their books and left.
The next class (Sophomore English for troublemakers) filed in, sat down and waited while the teacher took attendance and introduced my friend...all without a sound.
Every class that day was the same - no talking, no screwing around, just respectful silence.
The teacher told me, "I always knew you kids had a jungle telegraph but I never imagined that all 3000 students could find out what happened in one 4-minute passing period."
I originally heard the story from the teacher just after it happened and I had a chance to ask my friend about it when I ran into him a year or so later.
His only comment was, "[the teacher] has an exceptional memory."
Just playing to their criminal base.

I disagree. Do you think those "darlings" haven't been beaten?
Arabs beat their kids severely. So do Iranians, Chechens, and Afghans. Religion is forced upon everyone in the Middle East, North Africa, and Southwest Asia. Capital punishment is the norm. How is that working out? They are the most violent and crazy societies on the planet. EVERYTHING, including divorces and minor business agreements, is handled with the AK-47.
I was beaten regularly when I was a kid, do you know what happened? I whipped my Dad's ass as soon as I was big enough, and all my brothers too. I devoted my life to fighting when I was 12, by 16, all four of them, had taken a savage ass-whipping and never thought about trying it again. They remember that ass whipping, over 40 years later.
Distance from Chicago. The military. Contrary to popular belief, and the BS from every quitter/kick-out that couldn't handle it and quit the military, the military doesn't hit you. A leader that has to hit his troops is a severely screwed up leader. There are other methods. Nobody ever hit me without getting beaten up, the military always allows for self-defense. Hit me, I'll hit you back harder and repeatedly. Instead, we were worked like dogs when we screwed up. 16 hours of chopping wood or doing dishes will bring you around.
What changed me? Basic discipline. A good environment. Wanting to follow men that were stronger, faster, and better trained than me. Real leadership. After 4 years, I was a completely different person.
Let's face it, every single kid in Austin and Englewood has been beaten. They will continue to take beatings for their entire life and they will beat their kids too. Time goes on. They need distance. An alternative. Labor Brigades would get them out of the city, teach them discipline, and soon enough, a trade. Long days of work and sleeping in barracks far, far from home and Homey would give some of them a chance to turn it around. Getting those kids out of those homes and away from the failed parenting in the ghetto can change their lives. Nothing else will. Illinois is a big state, there is plenty of room for state or federal run, working farms and work camps. It isn't a punishment, it is a chance to get out of the worst neighborhoods in America.
As for the hardcore ghetto boy with an attitude. Imagine how much that kid will hate farm work? It may be enough to put him on the straight and narrow. Work it out of them.
Or, just keep doing what Chicago is doing.
