Shawn Kimbrough told authorities he “does stupid stuff when he drinks” before he was arrested for firing a collapsible rifle on a Metra train platform at McCormick Place, Cook County prosecutors said. No one was injured in the Dec. 1 incident but the 40-year-old’s alleged actions were more than stupid, Judge Mary Marubio suggested Tuesday.
“This was a very deliberate discharge,” Marubio said before ordering Kimbrough held on $500,000 bail for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a firearm without a FOID card and reckless discharge of a firearm.
But if we recall correctly (and CWB blog reported correctly):
- Two different carjackers - who were sober when they made the conscious decision to commit their crimes - had bail set at $10,000 and were able to post $1,000 to get out of county.
Someone want to investigate the disparate bails granted by Cook County judges?

You get retro up until the day you retire. The amount you retire at is the amount you get plus any colas. Your pension does not get recalculated.

This department BLOWS!!!! They amended the sgts and Lts numbers which is why they didn’t make the scheduled class December 16. Still no merit in these classes which is great but they are now only making 35 Sgts instead of 50 and 12 Lts instead of 15. So we will “gain” 23 sgts. One more class of 50 in end of may for summer and that’s it because 2nd part will be in the end of February with a new list in the end of July or beginning of august. Jury is still out weather or not that last class of 50 will have merit or not... more than likely not.
Your pension does recalculated. I was retired for 2 years as Sgt and got final payout recalculated with my retro pay raises now included....

I admit that I haven’t read the contract to see if it’s something that’s written within, but does anyone know if I retire before the contract is settled if the eventual raises will still be given to my pension calculation? Also, will I still receive a retro check? I can stick around for another year until the arbiter settles this contract to avoid losing the benefits, but just trying to weigh my options. If you could tell me where this is documented I appreciate it.

My reading comprehension skills aren't the best so I read that article 4 times. Help me if I'm wrong. The initial decision was contrary to the current Foid law and declared the Foid itself unconstitutional. That decision was then reversed so nothing has changed. Current Foid is still the rule.
So when you say "FOID will not be around for much longer" are you being optimistic in the sense that the Foid card will soon be obsolete or did you misinterpret the final ruling or did I misinterpret? Legalese challenged, just confused, all of the above or none?

There is a possibility that the FOID card may not be around much longer.
There are major processing problems with the FOID card program that need fixing. One of them is the backlog problem.
The State realizes that FOID card program accomplishes nothing and consumes money. Fixing the program will take a lot of money. Money that the State doesn't have.
The State would probably like to do away with the program but that is politically incorrect.
But if the State loses its case and the court throws out the FOID, it's a winner all around. For the State and the citizens.
Now if the court does throw out the FOID, there will be much weeping and wailing for the libtards. There will be a big announcement that the Legislature will pass a bill to fix it. Where it may die in committee.

Even if it wasn't specifically named, it's still going to be seen as an AR-15 variant by anyone looking to jam you up. If it seems like you've found an acceptable, legal, semi-auto rifle for cook county, you can be pretty sure it's illegal for some reason. They'll find something that disqualifies it or just call it an AR variant. When it comes to preventing law-abiding citizens from owning the "scary" rifles, cook county has done its homework.
