UofC ER Fight
Attacking the people trying to save lives:
- The University of Chicago Medical Center is tightening security after a brawl inside its emergency room this past weekend.
The fight broke out after several people were shot just a block from the hospital in Washington Park Sunday night, then spilled inside.
In the moments after the fight, the hospital said a crowd gathered inside the emergency room and then several fights broke out in patient treatment areas.
Three hospital employees were hurt, and the medical center locked down the area outside the emergency department.
This is the relatively "new" trauma center? Sounds like they could have taken some advice from the west side medical personnel. Anyone been by Mount Sinai Hospital in recent years? They built an entire cage around the ER and ambulance parking area due to non-demonized individuals attempting to finish settling scores that began on the streets within the confines of the Emergency Room.
It's the south side, and we've heard/been on the scenes of shootings inside funeral homes where the corpse caught a few extra rounds just in case he was faking it in the coffin.

University of Chicago is full of staff who hate the very presence of police and actively work to thwart and hinder all investigations, even so much as talking with a traffic crash. Let them work it out on their own.
Chicago hospitals have been a battle ground for gang bangers for a while. They are all doing criminal activity and go to the hospital to get fixed up on the taxpayers.

Their campus police used to be really effective.
If it wasn't for the Campus police and CPD in Hyde Park in numbers. the area would be unlivable as the mini capones would feast on the inhabitants .

If they are dumb enough to believe the false narrative that the media and activists tell them about the police, then they should stop relying on them to solve the mess they helped create. Low IQ no common sense followers.
Emergency rooms, Funeral homes, Processions to the cemetery, shootings at the Cemetery.shootings at the Memorial services. It's all part of the Chicago version of the "Circle of Life". Must be those "Ultra MAGA" people again. The short version; "You Got What You Voted For Assholes!"
The U of Chicago has the 2nd largest private police force (next to Pinkertons) in the US and yet they hate the police? Why don't they just do away with the army of police on their payroll?
I hope the doctors and nurses as well as the victim advocates pay with their very useless lives. We do not need evil people such as them perpetuating evil. In the late 70's and in the 80's the UofC Police and it's Emergency Room Staff were very friendly to the Police. As a Area 1 Homicide Detective I was assigned gunshot victims frequently. I never had a problem with either or. In fact, several UofC Police Officers were Chicago Police Officers working parttime or former CPD officers. As far as the emergency room staff was concerned, they were friendly and helpful. I don't know what happened in the meantime but if this is true, that is sad.

Pfft. You don't know the half of it! The majority of Chicago hospitals are anti-police now. They treat CPD, State Police, Cook County deputies and basically any white police officer or detective like scum. The front desks at U of C, Rush and Northwestern have COPA stickers proudly displayed. Most of the hospital "police rooms" were taken out years ago. The staff won't even acknowledge you...the disdain is that real. (I heard they are treating CFD nearly as bad now too?) Police or detectives attempting to do interviews in the ERs is pointless as well since cooperation with the police is actively discouraged by hospital staff. "Zero North Unknown" is a common Chicago shooting location {snicker}

Yawwwwnnn, been going on for decades and decades. Shots fired in the Er, shots fired at Ambos parked there, shots fired at Ambos on 290 headed there. Hell one time I recall they made it up to OR. That’s why they call it the ghetto. Oh, umm, I mean challenging neighborhoods. Nobody gives a fuck. Not mayors nor alderman. In fact they care so less they probably would start a music festival one day right next door. Oh, wait.
I'm now retired, but the U of Chicago PD does a good job.
Been in the earlier version of their ER many times and don't recall catching any grief from the staff.
I really doubt the staff or atmosphere has changed with the new Trauma Center. Or at least changed that much.
The reason the U of C police still exist is because even a few years back when a U of C cop shot a student having a serious mental health breakdown it was one shot and clearly justified.
Some mope PHD student led protests to get the U of C PD shut down. The department is still there and my experience was most of the residents of Hyde Park and neighboring areas were happy to have them.
They generally arrived on scene before CPD and never failed to back us up when necessary. I was glad they were around.
Just because some protest gets a few dozen idiots doesn't mean the whole neighborhood is anti police.
Reminds me of the 10-1's in the ER of Saint Francis in the 90's when a banger from 24 was brought in graveyard dead. Nothings changed apparently

Hopefully he stayed around until the beat car showed up and he gave a full, accurate description of suspects. As required by his employment.

I remember watching the news where the young idealist med students lobbied for a trauma center to better serve the community. This is the result. Stevie Wonder could see it coming. The activists couldn't.

Transferred my medical care back north from U of C. There were two mutts screaming at each other out by the valet parking area. Security was alerted and I was concerned the incident was going to turn violent. Turns out the two morons, who disrupted the entire operation of valet parking, were arguing over a sandwich.
Glad the kid in my family no longer works over there and is out in the suburbs. While no where is completely safe, the odds are better further out of the south side.
