Everything is Closing

This one is a national problem:

  • By the end of 2024, CVS Pharmacy will have closed 900 store locations as it pivots to a new "retail footprint strategy."

    [...]

Meanwhile, pharmacy chains, including CVS, Walgreens, and Rite Aid, are battling rampant retail theft at some store locations, likely contributing to closures.

According to CapitalOne Research, retailers lost approximately $86.6 billion to theft in 2022 and are projected to lose over $115 billion by 2025.

This one, however, is closer to home:

  • For three decades, the posh restaurant atop the former John Hancock Center was the place to pop the question, enjoy a romantic Valentine’s Day dinner or celebrate a special birthday.

But the Signature Room closed abruptly on Thursday, citing “severe economic hardship.”

The article claims the after effects of the Covid closures damaged their restaurant and they couldn't negotiate a favorable lease. But what does a restaurant need to survive? Besides PPP loans we mean:

  • customers

And there aren't any downtown after the sun goes down. That's why all those other retail establishments are leaving, too.

Here I am with my tool box full of knives and I'm passing by a flipped CPD car and all of my future coworkers giving me the "stink eye", I felt like I was in deep shit Arkansas.

Just today I went to Walgreens on the far northwest side to get some Tylenol. Now locked up behind glass and you have to wait to get “sales associate” to retrieve it. They then hand it to you. Then you bring it to the check out clerk. Could have put it in my pocket. Same thing about a month ago in Niles at Golf & Milwaukee for over the counter eye drops. “Sales associate” unlocks glass case hands me the drops, go to the front of the store and no clerk, just self check out on kiosk. This is insanity, why lock the stuff up if you have no check out clerk. But I paid both times because I don’t want the drug stores to close because of losses and be responsible for a drug store desert in the area!!!!!!

What if Mayor Johnson’s goal is to bankrupt Chicago? I mean it sure appears that way. Everything he is doing and allowing could have no other outcome but financial collapse. "Imagine if Paul Vallas won", ya but he too is a democrap with democrap ideas. He would have caved in at the first gust of wind from the BLM and woke whitey crowd.

Did you read his piece in the Trib from 9/14 where he says the following;

1. Extend work permits for immigrants and provide temporary operator licenses to immigrant businesses that comply with city ordinances,
2. Establish a transitional housing network by leasing long-term accommodations, purchasing hotels and motels, and utilizing vacant apartment buildings,
3. Encourage residents to host immigrant families while streamlining the process for apartment owners to convert unimproved spaces into garden units.
4. Urge the state to utilize all government residential facilities at its disposal.
5. Seek a federal disaster area designation to access reimbursement for the cost of providing housing etc for immigrants.

Then on the other hand he says, Enforce immigration laws rigorously and cooperate with federal immigration enforcement efforts, particularly in cases involving national security and public safety. Ya right. P

Purchasing hotels and motels? Great plan Paul. Host immigrant families, what could go wrong. How many families is Vallas hosting in his home?

Sounds like BLM BJ for the most part regarding how to deal with the Chicago invasion.

Oh trust me.. at night there are plenty of customers. They were only from the south and west sides. The quality of enjoyment decreased. It became loud, reeked of weed and constant “complaints” about needing to talk to managers, low tipping, groups sitting at tables for hours on end, sending food and drinks back all the time etc etc. finally signature room had enough. Believe me, the service, food and drinks were just fine, it was the typical south and west side people doing what they do in restaurants. Drink half a drink and get another one. Eat half a meal and get another one. At the end demand a discount or free meal because of the items “cooked” incorrectly. It’s the way that it goes. My sister worked there over the summer when she was home from college.. she said never again. She has worked there since she was 18 years old over the summers home from college. She said it’s never been this bad. Might as well now be the JJ fish at the top of the Hancock… if you’re offended too bad. It’s sad but true and the REAL reason of what has been going on at the signature room.

New retail strategy: Closing up shop in crime-ridden shitholes run by Democrats. Opening up shop in Red States where they hold criminals accountable.

Of course they'll get some "tax rebates" that will offset the cost of the perma-thieves showing up, and they'll just turn the whole place into a plexiglass palace for the duration of the rebate, so some will remain in Blue states, but not many...just enough to work out for the corporate soundbites when the usual suspects bitch and moan about a >something< desert

This is a common tactic when you have a good/great business, or the land skyrockets in price at your location. If you lease the owners now know you have a great business or location & they bring in their own people. Hense the lease is not renewed.

The Signature Restaurant among others are feeling Murder City and its Mob Rule (as in large crowds of people being disorderly, intent on causing trouble and/or violence). Is that clear enough for you BJ. The restaurant left Dodge because of crime, criminals and a piss poor city administration at all levels. Kimmy the FOXXXX and Tim Evans and the Black Robes also contribute mightily to the savagery in the Windy City. The media are co-conspirator's in putting on a "happy face" for the citizens who are being raped, robbed, car jacketed, maimed and murdered. The smart ones leave, and the rest well - just get in line and get your appropriate police report and start filling in the blanks.

BTW: BJ do you suppose you can move in some of the illegals up there on the 95th as part of your Sanctuary City effort. You know, so we can get our station facilities cleaned up and acceptable for public business.

The Signature room is only one of many high-end restaurants that have fled the Shitty of Chiraq.

Lawry's Steakhouse - they'd just dropped $5 million on their "Sidedoor" gastropub when the pandemic and then the 2020 St. Floyd riots hit them. No one's doing $200/plate as a takeout, they saw the writing on the wall and skeedaddled. That Restaurant was doing about $80 million/year in business. *poof* gone about $8 million or so in sales tax alone... not to mention the liquor taxes, bottled water taxes, and other bullshit taxes the City was extorting from them. Food vendors, liquor vendors, servers, busboys, cooks, dishwashers, cleaning crews, singing performers during the Holidays, lease taxes on anything in the place that was leased, valets, parking fees, and on and on and on... all gone - and that's from ONE place.

How many have the Demoncrats driven out of the City and Crook County?

Chicago's in a death spiral. If you can, get out now. If you can't, then sell your property and RENT until you can escape.

Good luck.
