Singled Out for Harassment?
So someone sent this to us:
An emailer who knows informs us that FOP members are the ONLY union members whose checks are being consistently wrong. No other union in the city is seeing differing/improper tax withholding, missing union dues, pay rate discrepancies.
It's a fucking spread sheet program. You type it in and computers do all the rest. It isn't that difficult and it doesn't explain why everyone else's checks are fine.

Intentionally planned? As my computer teacher said during a course on programming, “Garbage in equals garbage out”. Multiply that by X amount of officers twice a month for the yearly pay periods, for X number of years. Who is wetting his/her/their/it’s beak of the shortages. In this age of computers, the shortages are not an anomaly. And if so, then why not fixed, stopped? The next question is do these same regular shortages happen to the civilian employees who work within the CPD? Asking for a friend.

This makes the third time in a short period that the city messed up on the police checks. Ever since the city changed the pay dates the city has been screwing up the checks. How about screwing up Mayor Johnson check since he doesn’t do anything.

So for those who don't get the OT check, will they still get union dues taken out on the 07OCT check? or are they going to get double whammy on the 22OCT check?

Why not? The city has made habit of violating the contract since 2020. I've called the union and asked about the violations. And the union does what they are best at. Lectured me that there's nothing they can do and were frustrated that I'd waste their time asking. RDOs canceled. POs begging for their contractual time, illegals all over lobbies. What's next, and what can't the union do about it?
It's deliberate. It doesn't just "happen" two times in a 3 month period.
PBPA checks too, been going on for a while.
When are you guys going to realize that they are going to fuck you every chance they get. This is being done by ALL city agencies.

Why is that as the years on this job pass by, so does the rate of competency? It’s getting worse as time goes on. It’s at the point where there is not one good aspect left to this job. It’s only been 15 years for me and it’s completely night and day from when I started.
Police officers in Chicago are the enemy. We aren’t afforded the same benefits and rights as everyone else who works for this city because we are despised. Firemen were given the maternity/paternity benefit. On top of all their other time off. They work less than 90 days a year. Have 3 furlough segments a year. All of which by the way are working day furloughs. They can make shift trades so they get any day off they want and don’t use a minute of comp time. The teachers, too many benefits to list. They work less than firemen, so figure that one out for yourself. Local 150 operating engineers get paid double time for ANY minute of OT. For driving a machine. Think about that for minute. CPD gets days off canceled constantly. Forced, not chosen. All for only time and a half. Am I jealous? 100% yes. I kick myself in the ass all the time for taking this job over a decade ago.

I know the grass is always greener on the other side. But cmon already!! This shit is insane. This is the worst possible job a human being can subject themselves to in 2023. Anything else at this point seems better. It’s a terrible job for a human being that isn’t a sociopath, psychopath, narcissist, bully, who hates his family and kids with a severe anti-social personality disorder. A human being who’s soul is in tact, unlike the entire exempt structure of the CPD. Let’s be real. 90-95% of this dept falls under the above mentioned personality disorders. There’s cops still getting blue cards so they can stay on days or whatever. It’s a mental illness. It’s a demented, going back to an abusive spouse kind of mental disorder. But hey, what do I know. I’m just gonna continue my quiet quitting routine at work and pray something else comes along.

I’m not CFD but will chime in here to correct this numbskull. If CFD works 90 days a year and they work 24 hour shifts then they are working 2160 hours per year. CPD works 5 days per week for 52 weeks for 2210 hours per year, and you aren’t working full 8.5 hour tours every day.
So stop the bullshit. If you wanted to work 90 days per year then you should have been a fireman.
Time to revolt.....work slowdown and 19p!!!

Not sure of the particulars behind these statements, but you can bet the assholes running special employment will do everything in their power to hammer every last copper that bailed. They can all likely expect some kind of suspension as punishment as they make their own rules there (literally) and then try to enforce them, and inconsistently at that. For those of you who have ever been suspended for missing a day or calling off last minute or having a scheduling error, their rules are completely arbitrary and were created without being negotiated into our contract. Sect 16.2 of our contract spells out how and when we can be disciplined for screwing up things related to special Emp. Keep this in mind and grieve anything they try to stick you with. Hey FOP, are you listening???? This issue needs to be addressed in the contract negotiations THIS TIME AROUND BEFORE ITS RATIFIED. This issue has hurt several hundred POs already.

Fireman are paid to sleep on their shift as they only respond to specific calls
They pretty much have free time outside their (excuse me while I laugh:) 8-4 chorez: ensure rig's are clean/working, house is clean, lunch & dinner are squared away etc

From a retired CDOT not LEO. It is being manipulated. When a certain element took over the payroll of CDOT during Tiny Dancer's reign, my paycheck and another Caucasian also with high seniority, consistently had short checks. It wasn't until we filed grievances asking for the person responsible to be "disciplined, suspended and terminated" that the harassment stopped.
