Some 55% of voters now believe that “Woke politicians are to blame for rising crime.” With gun control one of the top issues for Democrats going into this election, the polls show a growing gap with a majority of voters on the issue, particularly as crime continues to rise among the top issues for 2024.
The NBC polling shows a record number of Americans are now gun owners. The current level is up six percent from 2019 when 46% of Americans said that they or someone in their household owned a gun. It is now up 10 points in the last ten years.
Notably, that includes 41% of Democrats. If this trend continues, half of the Democratic voters will soon be living in households with gun owners. Some 45% of independents confirm ownership as do 66% of Republicans.
The Harvard poll is likely to be more chilling for the Democratic Party. Not only do citizens overwhelmingly blame woke policies on the left for rising crime, but 42% believe that crime and safety is getting worse in their community. Only 21% believe that it has gotten better.
Harvard then asked “Do you think you need to have a gun today in case you are attacked by criminals, or do you think owning a gun is unnecessary?”
A majority of voters in all three categories (Democrat, Republican, or independent) said that a gun is necessary. That includes 54% of Democrats. (Some 77% of Republicans and 56% of independents agreed).
Consider that for a second. Almost half of Democrats are gun owners and over half believe gun ownership is necessary. It is one of the greatest disconnects of either party with their membership. While Democrats have found a winning issue on abortion in recent elections, it represents a growing separation on one of the other key issues in this election. President Biden has pursued some of the most aggressively anti-gun policies of any president.
Legally, the polling shows that the public seems to be moving toward the view of the Supreme Court despite unrelenting attacks in the media. Since the Court declared the right to bear arms to be an individual right in Heller, the media has overwhelmingly decried the decision (and later decisions). Reporters generally quote staunchly critical law professors who portray the Court as “gun-crazy” and disconnected from both the Constitution and reality.

CHICAGO (CBS) – There were new questions and some concerns on Wednesday over Chicago's movement of migrants out of police stations.
The city has cleared people away from five stations as of Wednesday afternoon.
More than 1,400 remain outside several other districts. As for those who were moved, the city still hasn't made it clear exactly where the migrants were going and how they were prioritizing each case.
CBS 2's Andrew Ramos spoke to one insider who said the frustration was turning into anger.
The cleanup outside of the 8th Police District on the South Side was swift and came without warning on Wednesday morning.
For weeks, asylum seekers housed in tents took hold of West 63rd Street. By the late morning, it was a mere memory.

Police said a 27-year-old woman was walking in the 3400 block of North Lincoln when a silver Kia pulled up. Three men with guns got out of the car while the driver stayed in the vehicle. They demanded her property. She complied.
Their getaway car is believed to be a Kia Soul that was stolen in Humboldt Park.
About 20 minutes later, four armed men pistol-whipped and robbed two people near Fullerton and Cicero. The crew escaped in a silver or gray car.
Then, around 2:30 a.m., two men were robbed as they walked in the 2400 block of North Sacramento, police said. A silver Kia pulled up, and five men got out of the car with guns to rob them.
In each robbery, the offenders were described as Black males wearing masks. One wore a green sweater. A surveillance video showed another wearing a white or gray hoodie.
I’m thankful we have a command staff, from the district commanders to the superintendent who are willing to stick their own necks out there and step in front of a blue shirt saying, I made the decision, I deserve any consequences. The 8th District was among the many that were cleared or what the city called "decompressed" in an effort to start moving migrants out, with the majority of them headed to temporary shelters.
Other districts that saw movement in the previous day were Districts 1, 2, 3, and 4.
"We are finding a lot of areas where we see gaps and we are at a point where we are very concerned," said Melissa Deming, of the volunteer group, Police Station Response Team.
While the city attributed the movement of migrants to placement in shelters or, in some cases, asylum seekers resettling on their own, Deming, who volunteers primarily at District 7, said it's not what the city was doing, but how it was doing it that's causing problems.
"Basically, they are only taking families and we hardly have any families," she said.

Yes, 450 will be made on Monday. Everyone promoted will have taken the test on day five, thus no merit picks because they all had the answers anyway. Then a class of 300 Dics, 95 Lieutenants and 45 Captains. Then, we could hear everyone complain that there are no P.O.’s in the Districts.
Unfortunately, my Commander couldn’t make it to any roll calls to wish us a Happy Thanksgiving. Guess he was pretty busy hanging out with his own family while we work.

SDSC isn't subject to bid dickhead. You also have to have the training to be assigned. Start kissing ass or stop acting like a malcontent. I have two years on and never bothered to read the vehicle pursuit order. Learn to read pud.
Rumor with some strong merit:
About 30-40 people (or folks) at OEMC on the chopping block being investigated for the covid scam PPP loans. All on the police operations side. Mixture of call takers, dispatchers and even a few supervisors. Allegedly overnight everyone became a single employee business owner of a beauty shop out of their homes.
11:33pm. I'm a huge proponent of "seniority rules" but unfortunately SDSC isn't a "bid" spot. If you've got 16yrs on you should know that my friend.
The sDSC rooms should be completely merit based. Not fake merit but true merit. Can you track a car in real time? Are you good at working the camera system, reads, flock, shot spotter and so on. Unfortunately like so many other positions, the rooms have turned into another inside spot to put a girlfriend/boyfriend of the bosses. This then degrades the usefulness of the technology. It’s night and day when you have a competent SDSC person in the room vs an incompetent person. Somehow the competent ones always get results and the incompetent ones always say they have no footage or the camera wasn’t facing that way because they didn’t react in time.
Bids would turn those rooms into even worse results than they’re currently getting. At least when you have a girlfriend in there, they’re probably younger and have the ability to utilize technology. Some old timer who has no clue how to work a computer shouldn’t be able to bid there and be even more useless than the Lt’s favorite.
