Make Cops the Enemy

This amendment to an existing law was tucked away in the Labor Dispute Act:

  • (e) A person who, with the intent of interfering with, obstructing, or impeding a picket or other demonstration or protest, places any object in the public way commits a Class A misdemeanor with a minimum fine of $500.

On its face, this supposedly had to do with picketing by unions.

But given the recent history in Europe of citizens dragging protestors out of the streets / highways, and the continuously deteriorating civility in the US where we are about to see irate citizens doing their own dragging of "protestors" (or running them over), how is this amendment meant to be interpreted?

It seems to be giving complete control over to the protestors. What does that mean for police? Why would cops be assigned to a protest if there's no enforcement action to be taken?

Or (and now you see what democrats want) the police will be required to take action against the pissed off citizens who can't get to their flights at the airport, their shopping trips downtown, their visits to suburban relatives, or their ambulances to the hospitals?

Violation of bail bond and order of protection are the only laws we’re required to enforce.

Good luck with enforcement, not gonna happen. Sit back, call dispatch and advice only observing the crowds behavior, waiting on supervisor/exempt to arrive on scene. The lemmings will be beaten the shit out of by the masses. Remember, the masses voted democratic in Chicago, and this state bleeds stupid liberal politicians in every top position of power, fuck'em.

What about everybody else?
With amendments like this I can care less about their qi.
Its unconstitutional, all of it.
And appears to me that these protests are state sanctioned against citizens just trying to live their lives because they're the only ones who suffer and have no power.

Standing by, like paramedics, ready to do what is needed, is what remains for law enforcement officers.

When the shit hits the political fan, duck and cover as you can.

Pissed off civilians can take a flying fuck to the moon.

The protesters are, in fact, rioters, and will reliably drift strongly to violence at every protest.

These are not MAGA protesters, the authentically always peaceful protesters.

These are provokers of violence, always.

For the portion attending for the hope of a hook up for copulating happy, too bad you sought sex in the wrong place at the wrong time.

For the portion attending from their deeeeeeply held feelings of wtf ever, ditto.

The remaining portion of the protesting crowds are instigators of violence.

Do what can be done to contain them, tightly packed as possible, so the shit they fling lands mostly on themselves, where it belongs.

Well, since the city and mayor have a no chase policy, we just need enough of us to step on the gas pedal in our cars simultaneously and run over protestors blocking streets. Those of us of a certain age can claim senior confusion at the wheel while CW McCall's "Convoy" plays on the car radio.

This country wasn’t like this. Sure there were protests, but the breaking point was 2008 when Obama said, “ We are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America.” and from that point forward America has been flipped, with liberals, democrats feeling the time has come to take off the mask and gloves. Only two things standing in the way is the 2A and the American culture of conservatism. They have shown they can act with impunity, while fabricating a lie and hunting down and incarcerating conservatives. And those guilty of orchestrating the event 6Jan go uncharged, even Lt. Michael Byrd is protected. The left knows it can act with impunity, ie Madison, Wisconsin, teachers union disrupts government; Springfield, Illinois, teachers union disrupts government; and the summer of peaceful protests are more evidence to where we are today.

I’ll be paying attention to how many coppers refuse to arrest people at the upcoming, increasingly more violent protest. Talk big here. When the order comes down to arrest, are you going to say no? What are you going to do? You know the exempts have a tenuous grasp on the law and many times, these cases are decided by supreme courts years later. Do you want to be involved in any of it? You going to be brave enough to defy direct orders? Or are you going to be a coward and stand in the back, hoping it never comes to you.

Coppers, young and old become the public's enemy for many other stupid reasons. This law is nothing new, and if coppers enforce it fuck them for being idiots. When I was on the job many STUPIDVISORS ordered me to lock people up for dumb reasons without probable cause, I said no problem and handed the STUPIDVISOR the complaint to sign and of course refused to do so. But then there would a kiss-ass who would. There were several people I have a brake and those favor came back to me.

You also have the tier 2 pension dragging down recruiting and retention, nobody seems inclined to fix.

Martwick and his allies also say the sharp cutback in benefits in 2010 deserves some blame for state and local governments’ post-pandemic struggles to recruit new teachers, police officers and other public workers. It was another blind spot for the legislators who wrote the 2010 law, according to Kass, who is herself a Tier 2 pensioner after having spent four years working at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Additionally members were taught to roll up their sleeves carry a clipboard and race around town in their motorcades to appear important and busy as thought they are racing to a meeting to fix something.

If you happened to buy groots bullshit on pensions being saved by Bally Casino revenue think again .

In a desperate move Bally is resorting to busing people in that historically have gambling addictions and expanding their casino hours to 24/7 operation. Prolly a method taught at woke Harvard univ.

Wondering if Bally's will require advanced notice for the buses at the gamblers landing zone in order to handle the crowds..lmfao. They should try accepting Link cards that should help.

late October, as revenue and attendance remained flat, Bally’s quietly added two hourly shuttle bus locations in Chinatown, reviving long-held concerns about local casinos targeting communities with a history of problem gambling. Bally’s has generated about $2.2 million in local tax revenue during its first three months in business - far from the $12.8 million projection of gaming tax revenue for 2023 set by former Mayor Lori Lightfoot before she left office.

From 12/29/23 Tribune.

Picket protections

Following a year of historic labor actions nationally, including strikes by autoworkers and Hollywood writers and actors, union-friendly Illinois has two new laws that aim to protect demonstrating workers and punish those who attempt to interfere.
One new law makes it a class A misdemeanor, with a minimum fine of $500, to place an object in the public way to obstruct or interfere with a picket, labor demonstration or protest.

As a previous commentator said this appears to be focused on labor protests. I remember studios in California putting things out and removing shade to make it harder to picket. On the other hand we all know laws are used for reasons they were not written for. Previous commentator provided link to bill which seemed to refer to labor protests so hopefully that makes it harder to be abused but I’m not a lawyer so don’t know.
