After eight months in office, only 21% of registered Chicago voters approve of Brandon Johnson’s performance as mayor, according to a recent poll conducted for an education reform group that advocates for school choice.
The question that provides the first known measure of Johnson’s early performance was piggybacked onto a poll of 500 registered voters bankrolled by Stand for Children, a group Chicago Teachers Union President Stacy Davis Gates derisively called “Stand On Children” and dismissed as “right wing.”
Voters were asked “how you feel each of the following is performing.” The list included “Brandon Johnson as Chicago Mayor.”
The results were staggering, even for a mayor who has spent his first eight months struggling to get a handle on Chicago’s burgeoning migrant crisis amid mounting tensions with Democratic Gov. J.B. Pritzker.
We wouldn't put too much stock in what the CTU president says - has she paid her taxes yet? Declared her primary residence for the next election? Checked which state she's voting in?

Curious that the DNC convention is to be held in Chicago, the birthplace and home for many years to one of Chicago’s own, the daughter of a Chicago Democrat precinct captain. I left the Southwest side 30yrs ago for Indiana and have often wondered if I am still a registered voter in the 18th Ward. Until the voter rolls are thoroughly purged and completely available for inspection by all “registered voter” is a meaningless phrase in Illinois!

I agree some people are leaving some people are moving due to all the crime and taxes. On the other hand, I know of many people like many of us know that have moved, and then moved back because they’re finding out. The grass is not always greener. Some people have moved to places such as Tennessee out in the woods but then they find out there’s a meth lab near them and a lot of scumbags around. Then you have the situation with over 200 Chicago police officers that left for greener pastures. Now they have to come back to the city because they found out the money was not there, the medical was not as good as we have you don’t get one year off for a medical issue , plus the accountability is monumental and other places where you’re actually accountable for what you do, also, you have to wear the same uniform. You don’t have a rag tag a bunch of people working as police officers.

How about your standard grocery store? How many are there? How many drug stores are there for prescriptions? I fully agree as many other people do that Chicago has a multitude of problems, but it also has a multitude of good things. Mini retirees are going nowhere. Look at Mount Greenwood Edison Park, Garfield Ridge, oriole Park for example many retirees are living there many retired, coppers, and firemen, but they are the people that we call the always movers, you know the type, the same guy who is getting the heck out of here very quickly as he retires can you see him a year later you ask him? Oh, I thought you were moving and he’ll say yes I am 5-10 years later. Wait a minute. you are still moving. Yep they say they’re getting the heck out of here. There is a lot of things to consider makes a lot of sense, the medical issue that is big most places will give you a maximum of 10 days per year off! Plus we have a decent pension as long as it is still there plus we’re not a right to work state like they are in Florida and many other places where you make less money matter-of-fact I’m one of the people that returned was making $57,000 a year That’s it which is nothing plus totally accountable for everything you do so we are another family that is going to stay here as long as we can,. I was just talking to somebody the other day they said that we should move and take up some hobbies, golfing and things of that nature. I don’t golf now I have no interest in starting any of that. I have the friends I have I have the neighbors I have the stores I know the people in the stores. I know my doctors also I had a medical emergency I had to be rushed to the hospital Chicago fire department. Ambulance was at my home within four minutes. We were in the ambulance within eight minutes. Rolling to the hospital. That is very important. Extremely important now.
