Hey Media? Follow this Money
So a reader did a bit of research....something usually done by "investigative" reporters....which are in short supply nowadays. Who owns the properties currently being used to house thousands of illegals and who are being paid with taxpayer funds totaling many millions of dollars? Here are three "shelters:"
- 344 N Ogden is 106,400 sqf- annual leasing price is $6,360,000
- 1308 N Elston is 84,120 sqft- annual leasing price is $5,047,200
- 2341 S Halsted is 86,000 sqft- annual lease is $5,160,000
Just for reference, industrial space in Chicago averages around $10 per square foot. One of the nicer office buildings in Chicago (Chicago River Point) goes for $53 per square foot. These buildings - all zoned industrial and all that sat empty the past five-to-seven years - are being leased to the city for $60 per square foot. Oh, and the Elston address may have recently in arrears for nearly $200K in property taxes.
And who owns these buildings? Some guy named Scott Goodman or a series of LLC's run by or in conjunction with Goodman. Where it gets interesting is when you go to OpenSecrets.org and run Goodman's name through the donor lists. Quite the "progressive" agenda being funded by this single individual whose companies are getting millions in taxpayer funds.
Legal? Probably....after all, lawyers write these grants / bills / laws and lobby for passage through the legislative process.
Ethical? Who are we to judge?
Hinkey as Hell and worthy of a deep dive by investigative reporters, who are supposed to be keeping a spotlight on taxpayer funds and a closer eye on the politicians spending that money? Yep.
But don't hold your breath.

Okay, Goodman is wetting his beak from taxpayer funds to house illegals. The $64,000 question is, “Who is Goodman kicking back to in order to get such lucrative deals and if Goodman is getting beyond the going rate for per square ft costs, who, how many people, signed off on the deal?” There are plenty of closed factories, grocery stores, and retail locations that could have offered competitive bids. Have to remember this is Chicago and it’s “The Chicago Way” to do business here. Asking for a friend.
Goodman is the founder of Sterling Bay which is the developer of Lincoln Yards and famously got TIF while other small businesses in actual blighted areas got the shaft. He's connected for sure.

Did it ever occur that this was in the planning for a long time? Keep the borders open, let hoards of unknown people who have no interest in becoming Americans by applying thru the normal process. Flood them with accommodations, food, legal services, medical services, education, cell phones, transportation et al to make their lives dependent on the government, which is the goal of the Democrat Party to groom them into Democrat voters and to nullify the votes of the present citizens.
And what better way to provide housing for the migrants is to use the services of mega real estate owners who’s properties have been lying vacant. The politicians then pay these property holders with the taxpayers money. So for years the real estate folks were paying into that fund called “Pay To Play” aka political donations. Well now they are cashing in by collecting the rent. The migrants will stay in buildings like these while the government builds public housing for them. And in a few years those buildings, because of the upgrading of the neighborhoods will be worth a lot. So it’s a win, win except for the present voter/taxpayer who will stuck with the bill.

Off topic but if I could be serious for just one minute. I took the FFO class and we obviously need to keep practicing. Lots of us couldn’t even buckle our helmets. If we don’t get more training please practice 10 or 15 minutes a week at home putting gas masks and helmets on. If we get into the thick of things we will all need to be able use our equipment quick and efficiently. I just don’t want to see brothers in blue hurt. Hope for the best but be prepared for the worst!

Sterling Bay just sold a chunk of land near the Lincoln Yards project to Goodman’s new firm. Do you really think he’s completely uninvolved now? No, he’s not. Now he’s just got another firm set up that can more directly feed off tax payer dollars with his “mission.”
He moved on from Sterling Bay where he could only nibble at tax payer dollars in the form of TIFs. Now, he gets to feast on them.

Humans reliably waffle between considering their individual life's purpose as: seeking pleasures and avoiding pains, aka wanting and getting, wanting not and avoiding, or being as I am, as a fella once advised.
The latter is as easy and doable for each individual as choosing to.
The former is merely choosing a series of successfuls and failures rendered finite upon death.
The choice is always the individuals.

Correct. They are placed there for us to blame them and call them idiots or stupid. They aren’t they are simply actors playing a role. They answer to the new world order and associates. Everything is deliberate. These policies and decisions are not from incompetence. There is a big secret club out there that we aren’t a part of. Everything is kabuki theater.
Investigative reporting? That only happens when they want to nail a conservative, and then they have to fabricate a story because there was no scandal to report on in the first place.
