- Here at FFO training and had to evacuate the room due to extreme fumes and carbon monoxide filling the room we were training in. Likely due to vehicles coming in for auto show. Gotta love this city

The Auto show isn't there anymore. It's at West McCormick.
Yes this is true. The "WELL'S" High school instructor told the cooper he was out of line, when bringing the fume smell to his attention. The fumes were absoutely overwhelming. The Fire Department was also called. The other instructor then aapolpgized and related they forgot to put on the exhaust fans. The room smelled the whole day of the trucks exhaust fumes.
The 2-day FAFO-Crowd Control training at McCormick Place is a complete joke so this shouldn't surprise anyone. It's a disorganized mess. We'd learn more from former-ANTIFA members. Our class wanted to evacuate for safety when we saw how tight those 5.11 pants were on the female instructors...
Should have used the opportunity to train on gas mask procedures.
While class was in session, somebody started up the salt trucks and they forgot to put the exhaust system on, letting in all the fumes. Fire was called afterwards and they checked the air quality and said it was good. Initially the instructor expected everyone to wait there and got an attitude. Class was evacuated for about 15 minutes.
FAFO= Fuck Around & Find Out training is how the city will throw you under the bus in federal court...

SCC, The two day training will be transitioning to three day training for everyone. There are not enough Tier 1 Officers Incase things go sideways. Anyone who completed Two day training will have to take an additional day of training.
Yea it's true, we got moved from the old Mccormick building to the new west Mccormick building because united airlines was having some sort of conference & didn't want the POLEECE anywhere in that huge building. We were put in a huge underground garage & streets & San turned on a plow truck & left it idling with the overhead door open allowing the diesel fumes to come in. FOP was on scene offering IOD & grievances
At the beginning of class I raised my hand and asked the “instructors” to give their time on the job and pertinent experience. The “instructor” said this isn’t the time for questions. Then we got paid to do nothing. This joke of a job has become so fun.

I’m an instructor at the FFO training. You guys can talk all the trash you want. I was offered a spot at the academy as an instructor. I did my 4 years on the street including 18 months on probation. I don’t care what you guys say, I’m never going back to a district. I earned my way out.
All this bitching. This kind of despicable, useless, deplorable and down right idiotic training is run by millennials that were never told no. It’s all being ultimately run by a man who couldn’t pass a promotion test to save his life. But this is what you signed up for. So stop bitching.

The best is 1 instructor with 3 years on ……. The where’s Waldo mustache guy with 7 on ……… it’s a complete joke ! Cops asking are they going to issue us gas masks cuz there’s were taken away years ago - answer is oh no ! PO’s missing a number on their helmets asking if they have the spares —answer is oh no !!! That class could be done in 1/2 a day !!!!!

Total CLUSTER FUCK! They moved the class but didn’t tell ANYONE so Officers for afternoon classes went from hall to hall to lower level to basement back up across the sky way etc for 30 minutes looking for the right place only to find ourselves in another PARKING GARAGE!!! Set up with tables and tvs with fireplace scene all around the room. See this is psychological to make you think you are WARM because it was cold as hell in there!! In the entire place there were 3 signs that said ANYTHING ABOUT TRAINING!! They were right outside the door!!! Another well thought out training oh and FEMA is paying for everything so you know the bosses are high stepping for that $$$$

Why did I have to go to McCormick place to watch a day and a half of power points…. Nearly get gases from CO2 and get a email with the wrong meeting point the day before training. Even for the low bar of this disaster of a department it was pathetic. Total waste.

60 positions and 40 applicants. Clearly CPD’s qualified people exceeded the job’s maximum capacity.
Worst training I’ve had since being on this job for 30 years. I don’t think any of the instructors have ever been in any real riot situations, but they will tell you how to respond. A few of them even had trouble reading about the material. The bottom line is the city gives the training to cover their ass. Dead or injured officers are cheaper than lawsuits against the city, and that’s a fact! Any of these expert eggheads are welcome to be on the frontline with all the feel good bullshit they teach.
We have 2 academies now and not using them for training?? Including how many millions on a new one??? To the mindless asshole who said he has ONLY 4 yrs otj and he earned his way to the academy...go fuck yourself kid, you don't know shit, the only reason your being so arrogant is because you must have a connection in your mouth and ass ( if you really know what i mean). Just being at the academy DOES NOT mean you know everything or should even be there. YOU can replenish your lipstick at any Walgreens.

Have fun hero, I’m not being used as a human piñata for the Democrats and their woke left counterparts. You see I have earned plenty of IOD time that has never been used in over 26 years andcome DNC time I’m going be cashing in for a nice relaxing few months off. I took the stupid training and won’t put my safety and well-being in the hands of the CPD officer’s I observed during that time. I owe nothing to this city or department. I’m over this law enforcement career and can’t wait to retire next year so I can was the stink of CPD off.
So, I was scheduled for a 2 day and 3 day FFO training class..I called the training section and they say, "Oh our mistake, I'll cancel your 2 day and put you for the three day class". So, i ask, why do i have to take the three day and not the 2 day?? The response was, the training section looks at SDSC people, Desk Bid People and Caps people as "ADDITIONAl OFFICERS" that they will need as front line officers, therefore they must go thru thru 3 day training! Id like to know is how do they know what spot i work in? SDSC officers are not BID spots.

I love posts like these as of everyone has the same opportunity to get this job. The DNC strokes are gonna be the new NATO strokes. Acting like they were in The Battle for Fallujah.
The new campus will include indoor and outdoor training spaces that both extend the current training capabilities of the Police and Fire Departments as well as offer more joint-training opportunities. The state of the art training campus will include two b 6thuildings, employee parking and an outdoor training area with key functions like indoor shooting range, diving pool, conventional classrooms, conference rooms, administrative offices, auditorium, practice range and fitness facilities. The site will also include specialized simulation facilities for active scenario training, ranging from buildings, to CTA train cars, to city streets. It will also have a driving training pad and modular units for scenario base training as well as space for Fire Department extraction training, high-rise operations, search-and-rescue, and confined space rescue training.
Together, these features will ensure the new training
