Un-F@#$ing-Believable

That copper arrested and charged with DUI following the "unsponsored" party that has cost at least one exempt his position....guess what else she's a part of?

If you guessed "a single employee beauty salon PPP loan for $8K" then give yourself a prize.

If actually shows two for same amount with this note. “ ALERT: There are 2 PPP loans for a total of $16,666 in our database for businesses with the name "Tangie Brown" in Chicago, IL. This this is typically due to the same business receiving both first and second-draw loans, but may also include similarly named but unrelated businesses, multiple branches of the same business, mistaken multiple applications, or potential fraud. Click each loan below to see full details.”

Each loan has a different number and different date in April 2021. So she probably got $16,666.

It was two loans, #5979638808 and 5413198710. There’s info on other sites that hits on the address. Each loan was about 8k which means she had to claim 40k in revenue for each loan. 80k total in revenue as an esthetician? I don’t know how these loans worked. Can someone claim each loan for separate tax years or were both loans for revenue from the same year?

Why don’t you speak to an ASA and inquire? The laws as they are written are not charged and enforced by the States Attorney. If you are the police, you should know that. There is specific criteria needed to obtain those charges from Felony Review. I agree that the elements of that charge are satisfied according to how it is written. You should know that Kim interprets things her way and not according to statute.

A third of all PPP loans were processed by two companie: Womply and Blueacorn. Both were start ups and earned millions in processing fees. There are articles pre PPP loan fraud articles on how Harvest Small Business Loans LLC was partnering with Womply to help process loans in underserved communities. Want to take bets on who any and all connected made campaign contributions to? The sad thing is, where does any of this get us, the taxpayers? We paid out of pocket for these loans, now we’ll pay for the legal billing hours to go after this. It’s all just one big feeding frenzy. 2/01/2024 04:02:00 PM

Taxpayers will have to pay millions because some off-duty moron chose to drive her personal car drunk after choosing to drink too much to drive? That's not how it works. She was not on duty, not at a police facility, not drinking alcohol provided by the police department, not driving a department vehicle, and not in any way performing anything related to her police duties when any of this happened. You can't just sue the city because a police officer happened to be the one committing the crime. If someone can make a case that the department forced her to drink and drive, or the department overserved her and let her drive knowing she was drunk, then you might have a point. The venue where she was drinking and anyone that may have overserved her could be held responsible, and that's most likely where the family will seek the majority of the money, since the former officer likely doesn't have millions to pay. Just because it's technically a work-related event, doesn't make the department responsible for what she chose to do.

I followed the various PPP fraud stories closely.

This is an outlier in that the two loans were apparently only for about 8K apiece.

Most of the likely fraudulent loans were for approximately 20K apiece--the max.

https://www.uptownupdate.com/2023/04/8-simple-questions-for-angela-clay.html

Then the loans that may or may not be linked to the city treasurer. Could be someone with the same name, but since one loan at least was literally next door to a Clay loan I'm a bit suspicious.

https://data.clarionledger.com/paycheck-protection-program-loans/?state=Illinois&searchtext=melissa+ervin

Need I go into retired exempts?

I wouldn't bet one way or the other, but it's possible soon to be former Officer Tangie had a legit side gig doing hair. I mean if you're going to steal why not steal near the maximum like millions of other questionable loans out there?

Why would he ?

So that he can check on the well being of an officer under his command and to ensure proper protocol is followed since he is the “Commander” of the District (for now that is) who sponsored the annual Christmas party that according to the flyer that was circulating provided food and alcoholic beverages. Rumor floating around 35th is that he was observed indulging in numerous spirits & other alcoholic beverages himself and as soon as he was notified of his officer being involved in a bad accident in his district leaving his party he disappeared. What a fucking weasel….Don’t worry Boss, only some of the indoor & outdoor cameras that were pulled from the venue and neighboring businesses were working and recording. Some of these bosses are so arrogant that they actually take their city unmarked squad cars and park them right in front of the place with no fear of repercussions.

11:32pm. I guess you just got on the dept within the last month. There absolutely have been civil cases brought against officers who were off duty, and NOT performing any official duties but the City eventually made a payout

Wasn’t an Area One Detective convicted and sent to prison for a fatal accident on the Dan Ryan while intoxicated? Not a short sentence either.

That would be true, but it’s all about the demographics, and all about who’s doing who!

I'm not on the department. What cases and what did the off-duty officers do? The city isn't responsible for the actions of their employees at all times and under all circumstances. There are certainly some things off-duty officers can do that would result in the department/city being sued and having to pay. Driving your personal car while drunk and off-duty, resulting in a fatal crash, is not one of those things. I'm sure you won't respond to this with actual, relevant examples of your claim, but if you do try, I'm 100% certain you won't find a case where an off-duty drunk driver in their personal car killed someone and the city/department had to pay. How would someone's length of service on the department be relevant to what we're discussing? It's not about police procedure or the department rules and regulations. It's about who pays in a lawsuit. The family could maybe try to push the issue due to the intoxication occurring at a work-related event, where department members planned the event and chose to have alcohol served to attendees. That's a tough sell to any judge or jury in terms of the city/department then bearing responsibility for the actions of the drunk driver. I just don't see a scenario where the taxpayers are on the hook for the payout in this case. But I don't have the irrelevant police experience you do, so maybe I'm wrong.

The blue shirts don’t have anywhere near the interaction with him that the white shirt do. That’s why they hate him so much more.
We lost good Sgts and Lts that left to get away from him., even some of his own office staff left him.

I know people don’t like our current Cmdr. but things are much better here now ..

Would be an awful look, if after attending your own Christmas Party and having a few drinks with your people, you show up to an incident involving an odpo involved in a fatal accident with intoxication implied , when he himself had a few drinks. That’s why the ON DUTY OCIC spot exists , so an impartial investigation occurs. Too bad that coward OCIC chose not to show up and then retired in shame.

Thats what your mommy and daddy are for. You think a Commander is supposed to show up at every incident 24 hours a day?

OCIC probably didn’t show up for the same exact reason. He was spotted at a Christmas party Out south himself that night, possibly knew that he wouldn’t be the ideal person to oversee that in the state he was in. Either way MAIU was lead and should have been, IAD should have came out. That’s the reason those guys sign up to be call out team and get the OT and take home car.

If he was the OCIC, which starts at 2000 hrs, and was drinking at a party out south on duty, which I doubt, that would be extremely stupid, considering it was a weekend night and you know the odds are great you’re gonna be called out to something. I’ll stick to my original assessment that he was coward who was afraid to show up and handle the incident. Maui handles the investigation but the OCIC is in overall command of the incident. The on-call iad person that didn’t respond should be taking time and getting dumped to a district, as they handle the admin investigation.

No Barz.Read the general orders on District Commanders. You're supposed to respond to major incidents in your district and leave when relieved of command by a higher ranking member. A real leader, which would not be a Mike Barz, would have responded, ensured the wellbeing of your officers and the public, ensured the scene is managed, make the appropriate notifications, and debriefed the superior responding ranking member. That's what a real police leader would have done...but nobody every accused a corrupt hack like you of being a real leader, have they, Barz???

This is not one of the easiest jobs on the planet. If it was it would NOT have the highest suicide, divorce, alcoholism, mental health issues and depression rates of any occupation.
Working for a good city and a good department with good leaders would make it an easier job...but we don't. We work for some of the worst bosses, for some of the worst citizens, against the worst criminals, for the most corrupt police department, with one of the worst reputations, nestled within the most corrupt city, county and state in the country. That changes the dynamics of the occupation.

Maybe both of those ex IAD bosses, and their enablers, may want to review the G.O.s regarding intoxication. You can not be intoxicated on or off duty,-not even in your own home. Don't believe me? Ask the officers sitting in or fired from callback, some of who were dui off duty...and at home.

No one has ever accused Fred of being a genius, but I do not think your description of being a coward is fair. If he had a couple of pops under his belt, not responding was the right decision. It avoided many, many possible complications, of which, you should be able to list. You will see he was not a coward. He was smart. Afterwards, in the ensuing days, it seems he learned things were not looking all that good for him administratively, so he took the best available option and retired unscathed.

Are you seriously trying to rationalize this for him?

If he had a couple of pops under his belt when he’s the on-duty OCIC, the highest ranking officer working on the department during those hours, he’s a fool not befitting the rank he held, it’s 2024 not 1994, so he’s a coward who left everyone working that incident
Hung out to dry because he was afraid to respond and do his job so his name wouldn’t be associated with any of it.

Nice try holding his nuts with that rationalization but it doesn’t cut it.
