When Green Day, Def Leppard and Maroon 5 headlined separate concerts at Wrigley Field in August 2021, the city of Chicago billed the promoter nearly $24,000 to cover the cost of city employees working as traffic control aides.
The bill went unpaid for 2½ years — among a $6.4 billion mountain of uncollected bills, fines and fees that City Hall has allowed to pile up over two decades.
Mayor Brandon Johnson’s Finance Department won’t release details on traffic violators and many scofflaws, but it agreed to release data on $1.3 million in traffic control bills owed by the city’s sports teams, concert promoters and organizers of special events like the 2014 TV show “The Biggest Loser.”
And then a funny thing happened once Chicago Sun-Times reporters began calling those businesses: They began paying up. One million dollars of the $1.3 million in unpaid traffic control bills got paid, City Hall records show.
The article goes on to quote numerous persons who run festivals, concerts and special events and they all say the city never sends out billing invoices on time. Sometimes, the city doesn't bill a company...until a company goes out of business, probably as a political favor to some connected entity.
But try being a week late with your water bill and see how that goes.

To include the pocket pickings of parkers not paid with actual city services being provided and not paid for is to accept the former as equivalent to the latter.
Since a certain previous mumbling mayor pissed away the revenue from parking meters, and having concocted an entire city department of pocket pickers, aka department of revenue yankers, the result is an ever increasing disdain for abiding by parking rules, given that there exists a less than .0000000001% possibility of successfully challenging any citation written by these fiends of the sticky fingers.
Combine this with the flood of default illegals, adding to the already huge number of same specifications having dribbled into the country over the previous decades, plus our ow native born moochers and what you get is: fuck you, see if you can make me pay you.

Kind of like when President Trump found out that various countries were not paying into NATO and the US was paying the bulk of the support. He contacted those countries and told them to pay up. These countries told him no one from the US ever asked them for the money. He told them if they don’t pay he said he would cut off their protection from the US. They paid up right away.

Yet I remember many a day when inside those certain houses in those certain neighborhoods and saw all those bills marked late, final notice, passed due, etc., and they were in the thousands of dollars and about a year late, but God forbid if the city or electric company or gas company cut their service off, that would be racist....... but the same families always had that Cadillac Escalade parked in front and a car with super-sized tires with $2000 rims and stereos, and don't forget that 85 inch flat screen t.v. in the front room.
This is exactly why Daley sold the meters. Get the money and have someone else collect the fees.

This is the playbook. We will never have another fair election in this country due to the Democrats, and they have found a way to steal the election plus then again they’re letting in untold amounts of a legal criminals into the country, destroying the country for a vote.

When it comes to legal tax avoidance schemes (and monies owed) Rahm Israel Emanuel former democrat mayor of Chicago and now Ambassador to Japan comes to mind. Under Chicago Municipal Code 4-5-020b5c music promoter C3 L.L.C. managed by the mayor's brother Ari Emanuel, tax avoidance was legally sanctioned for the Lollapoolza music festival in conjunction with the Chicago Park District's non profit fundraising organization Parkways Foundation. Partnering up with a government non-profit gave this tax-free scheme legitimacy. C3's L.L.C.'s owner Ari Emanual personally managed, controlled and profited handsomely from this legally sanctioned sweetheart tax avoidance deal with both the City of Chicago and coincidentally democrat Cook County's dismissing amusement taxes.
Even democrat Crook County Commissioner Bridget Gainer (D-Crook) condemned this smoked filled backroom tax evasive deal. "The county needs the money" she shrieked. She decried that that $350,000.00 C3 LLC had failed at paying their fair share would deny 150 underprivileged children summer jobs thus putting virtuous spin into taxation. The democrat stained City of Chicago estimated this tax avoidance loss at $1,000,000.00. So much for ethics in city government and county government.
Such a deal for C3 LLC and the sitting mayor's brother. How dare the democrat clan collude on two different levels of government to deny underprivileged, forgotten youth in forever ruined democrat strongholds the economic benefit of summer employment and upward mobility breaking that glass ceiling. Instead connected democrats exercised personal greed lining their own pockets and C3 LLC was bringing home the fat hog bacon. Not bad using your clout to get government legal tax avoidance and money saving carveouts under color of law. Don't worry-trust me Rahm Emanuel raised annually individual water/sewer bills spreading the tax misery equally to prevent any future government shutdowns. Never let a taxing opportunity go to waste.
The city doesn’t bill and also takes decades to pay when billed by a private company they have contracted for a service.
From a mayor the cannot even pay his own water, bills or tickets? This is way off the chart. The same guy whose massive detail 150 storm troopers run red lights. He has enough people in his detail to rival the Secret Service details on the president and nobody’s calling him out. Could you imagine what 150 coppers would do to help out?

When I lived in the city we had our electrical service updated. About 3 months after it was done we got a violation notice of a building code violation that we “refused” to allow the inspector into our home. We never knew the inspector was there. No notice left on the date of the so called inspection visit and we both had jobs and weren’t home. The notice said all kinds of things were going to happen, fines, condemnation of our property, seizure of the property etc. Multiple phone calls and the building inspectors would not give a date for them to show up, apparently we were to have one of us present at all times to wait however long it was going to be before they came. Luckily I managed to speak to someone who, after learning I was a PO, took care of the inspection issue. The city that works never has worked and never will work.
No different than NYC, where lots of rich people & wealthy hotels don't pay their water bills.

What do you mean pulling ahead? 🤔 By my calculation She still has about a 6800 vote lead on Harris. Slowly closing the gap is by no means pulling ahead. I highly doubt there are even a total of 6800 votes left to count let alone 6800 Harris votes. She will win, by a narrow margin mind you, but she will win

My contractor told me the ins and outs of doing work in the city. He pays a city inspector $500 to sign off on his work and there’s no choice! Otherwise inspector wait times are three to five months and without a donation the inspection may not pass. Miss the date then another 3-5 month wait. These corrupt inspectors just call it in as a hand waiver and collect. So an inspector has 30-50 contractors by word of mouth. He’s killing it just from the shakedowns.
