Pension Shenanigans

Someone posted in the comments section that there's a bill in Springfield trying to create a Tier 3 pension.

Not only that, but the bill is attempting to back date the Tier 2 pension to 2011 so as to screw a bunch of people with years already on the job.

Here's the link to the bill. We haven't read it yet, but it sounds like state legislators should be inundated with phone calls.

It is a clear violation of the state constitution.
You cannot change or lessen the benefits for employees already hired.
Only a new Tier 3 can be started for future employees.

10 years ago they increased the Park District pension contribution from 9% to around 11% for current employees at the time.
It was struck down by the State Supreme court and employees got their money back.

Why would they even attempt to draw up this bill?
Are they fuckin' stupid or what?
OR, is there some other hidden agenda?

I’m sure the FOP is very informed about it and will notify us… wait, they can’t even help with a simple fuckup by the city financial department. Vote every single FOP leadership position out. Need a whole new representative regime, top to bottom.

Sorry Rep Kifowit that ain't happening. This job has already driven Tier 2 recipients to leave and are awaiting their pension at 55. Plus, plenty of us are expecting the same. We will all leave, call our bluff. Especially the the veterans who you claim to be with your 2 ribbons, which you've acquired by doing a flex arm hang the military allowed you to do for political correctness. I'll be in contact with Aurora American Legion Post 84 and your constituents of the 84th district. How about save cost on illegal migrants budget and a list of others.

Yes to Tier 3, no to backdating it.
Tier 3 - Employee pays 20% of pay into pension. Cannot be refunded for any reason except drawing pension upon retirement. Minimum retirement age is 60, mandatory retirement age is raised to 70. Maximum pension is 70%, plus all the blunt you can smoke for life.

Yet again, boat loads of cops not getting their LEMART bonuses, in last check and some that did it was a small percentage of the $1000 agreed upon. Not to mention, Bike trained, and CIT bonuses non-existent yet promised. Why isn't the FOP informing ALL MEMBERSHIP what problems are resolutions/grievances/etc. Why do they force thousands of members individually contact FOP email and phone calls inquiring and complaining. FOP needs to get more streamlined and more transparent and more proactive instead of keeping everyone in the dark. This is big crap when you don't update members on important issues regarding their money! If it was their checks, they would be first people complaining but when it comes to the lowly members WHO ACTUALLY PAY LARGE DUES FOR THEIR SALARIES, its not much to expect quick and up to date information on their website news section or Youtube Channel. WHERE IS OUR MONEY and BONUSES!??????? Why do we all have to call individually to find out!? UPDATE US ALL, and have a better system with dissemination of news and progress. Its wrong that half the membership haven't received the bonuses, and some only partial. I understand HR sucks, but come one FOP, we are paying you to update and fight for us and respect our concerns. It's not asking for much to keep us weekly updated with current information! If it was there money they would be on the phone and in peoples faces same damn day, but when it comes to us, the members paying the bills and salaries, they look at us with a funny nasty look or simply dont even return a call or email. We all remember this next election. I know I will. Who the good and bad ones were who helped me, or......ignored my ass.

You’d think that if FLOP was competent at all, they would have done some work last year when this new “contract” was being finalized and determined how each officer would be proven eligible to receive their earned certification pay. The reality is that NO ONE in that office has a brain. They’re useless, vindictive and incompetent. That’s a dangerous and harmful combo. I couldn’t hate this dept and wanna be union more if I was offered more pay to be certified in hating this dept and wanna be union.

Pension reform a the only way out. Time way past to cut back on the benefits that the state and cities have stupidly agreed to. No cost of living greater that SS. On pensions paid until 63 no matter how many years on job. This goes across board teachers , police city and state workers. The hole is so deep and high wage earners leaving state making it worse. Also no double dipping allowed. The pension Tracey train must end.

Constitution Schmonstitution, democrats couldn’t give a rats ass about constitutions or the rule of law. They push as far as the people let them. Wouldn’t this be considered as diminishing someone pension which was ruled as “Unconstitutional”?
Maybe a Tier 3 going forward. But not retroactively.

I always love the people who shit-talk pensioners when things like this come out. They preach reform because they are leftist commies who voted for the leftist imbeciles who caused the problem. I haven’t heard people speak out much against the CTU and their bullshit. These people should call a teacher instead of 9-1-1 next time. My God, it's a QUARTERLY CHECK! you don't get the whole $1000 at once. Maybe go to a meeting sometime or at least talk to your unit rep.

They list their numbers. Not very good. $2500 a month for the best plan for a family. It makes more sense to stay to 55. At 55 it's $2500 for the year.

I've seen less expensive plans than these. Keep searching. It doesn't look like the national fop is doing us any favors with these prices
