Priorities Dumbass

Conehead steering the USS Chicago back into the iceberg, after Shortshanks, 9.5 and Groot already hit it a few times:

  • Mayor Brandon Johnson’s pension commission has been meeting for a year, and so far there’s no sign of any long-term solutions. They might want to come up with something fast — the pension mountain is getting steeper to climb.

Chicago’s unfunded pension liability rose by another 5.2% in 2023 — from $35.4 billion to $37.2 billion — thanks to “changes in pension assumptions and legislation,” according to the certified annual financial report for 2023 by the accounting firm of Deloitte & Touche.

It’s the second straight year that the pension crisis has grown by more than 5%.

The Firefighters Pension Fund once again hovers closest to bankruptcy, with assets to cover just 21.6% of liabilities. That’s followed by Police (21.79%), Municipal Employees (22.2%), and Laborers Pension Funds (38.55%).

Where's all that casino money? Or the Sports betting tax increase? All that's being directed to the foundering pensions, right? You aren't spending that money on tens of thousands of illegals who have contributed nothing to the city except raging cases of lice, bedbugs, measles and a few other diseases, along with open prostitution, child trafficking, robberies, thefts and an increasing number of hit-and-runs?

Do not count on the pension being there in retirement.

Roth IRA/Deferred Comp/Brokerage Account. Invest in the S&P 500. Do something so you’re not holding an empty bag come retirement time.

If you can’t afford a car in cash twice over, then you can’t afford it. Get something simple. I can promise you, no one gives a shit about your car. You’re impressing no one. Your car payment should be put into a retirement account.

Not only did the Democrats transport these illegal invaders here they made us pay for it. They are here to victimize us and replace us even though we are paying for their lodging, their cellphones, their credit cards, their food, their laundry, their transportation, their medical expenses and we are paying their expenses when they victimize us. No money for pensions for us. Since these Democrats have no opposition since we have only the uniparty there has to be a revolt like refusing to pay taxes, protests, demonstrations anything that works.

The belief/faith in any government's employee's pension's solvency is a prime ingredient in the glue that keeps government's functioning. And specific political parties' dominating said governments viable.

This pension solvency depends, obviously, upon the reliabilty of tax revenues, which, unlike the private sector pensions, is considered to be effectively safe from the whims of free market economics. This is a common misunderstanding of the economic dynamics effecting all pensions.

Tax revenues depend upon free market economic dynamics, thus are vulnerable to the same basic whimsy of which private businesses and their pensions are.

Wherever said governments interfere with free market dynamics, in such ways as to increase the negative whimsy of said economics, tax revenues are affected in the same negative manner.

So, here, in chicago, crook county and state of illinois, we experience the results of our governments' interferences with free market dynamics in those ways that affect our pensions to the result of insolvency being the standard maintained by said governments.

This in addition to the graftings, immense as they are.

Pay to play graftings are not limited to the abundances of grifters' contracts. It can be seen in it's most massive form in the largesses doled out to the 'voters' via 'we pay them to vote for us' huge interferences in free market dynamics.

These governments, ours, 😬😬😬, consider pension solvencies to be a pesky, lingering nuisance, not contemporaneously valuable enough to induce them to decrease any of the graftings one penny. Graft today, let tommorrow who gives a shit.

All of the above describes malfeasance precisely.

They do it all, every variation imaginable.

And they have commonality in one obvious quality: democrats.

Not that there are no republicans as effectively malfeasant as these, just that democrats' malfeasance is so dumb, yet so abundant, that it can only survive with an equally dumb population base, both the tax parasites and the taxpayers being drained and still not facing the sources of their financial anemia.

Our pensions do not need re forming. It's our governments dominated by democrats that need to be purged of same.

Now lalapalooza days off come out and they’re cancelling days off and no time due for another five days for that. What the fuck is going on. Didn’t our union win something in arbitration that said the department can only cancel for certain things? If they fuck around they will find out.

Who is responsible?

Politicians are for the vast majority of the underfunding. Daley and his crew worked hand in hand with Madigan and his crew at the State level to keep the State law of funding at $2 from the city for every $1 contributed by the employee. That Illinois State law dated back to 1984-85 so for over 20-25 years they knowingly and willfully neglected to fund at an actuarial level.

They're criminals, always have been.

Well slapstick, there are rules and conditions that are and have been in place for decades, and those rules and conditions are in place in thousands of municipal, county, state, and federal agencies.

They are contractually agreed upon terms by an employer and an employee upon hiring. One of those contractually agreed upon conditions is that an employee works 29 plus years to receive a pension at 2.5% accrued per year.

You don't like it? I couldn't give 2 flying fucks what you don't like. Go move to a "right to work" state.

The stock and real estate markets have recovered and irrationally continued higher since 2010-12, and asset valuations are at all time highs. Sell that bullshit somewhere else.

Actuarial formulas needed to address the fact that Daley and Madigan refused to change the State law that mandated Chicago pension funds only needed to be funded at a $2 employer contribution to $1 employee contribution. The funding should have been $5 to $1 25 years ago.

This thread is about the failing pension and mostly due to the massive amount of gold braids. Why would you want another gold braid? CPD could eliminate half the brass, especially Deputy Chiefs, and function just fine. Why can’t the Supt. simply tell his Chiefs and Deputy Chiefs what he wants? He doesn’t need to tell the 1st Deputy who will just relate what the Supt could have said himself.

That would help but the problem is municipalities use the pension as the #1 incentive to work for them. Especially in a very undesirable profession like LE where there is a high probability you could lose everything including your life by simply working. The pension is a contractual agreement that we had to sign documents for on the first day in the academy. We had no choice. Money was taken out of every paycheck and put into our pension. Democrats have destroyed LE and they can barely attract people to the job. Just about every city has to offer laterals to survive. For people like myself recently retired or close to retirement the earned pension is all we have. We don’t get social security. So if the pension collapses the politicians better invent a Time Machine so we can go back to the 1990s and take a different job.

They put cutesy labels like bail reform and dont be a racist or xenophobic as an imported proxy army is built to destroy the economy.

Cwbchicago has a story today of a shoplifting felon Up for his 21st felony.

Ask why are the liberal leaders wanting to destroy these brick and mortar stores eliminating jobs and opportunities? Tens of thousands of Walgreens employees are headed to the unemployment line.

I like how these libtard politicians paint us as greedy ba$tards, when in fact the pensions used to be approximately 75% funded. Then "I don't remember nothing" king Daley decided to use the pension fund as his personal bank and began loaning out 100s of millions of dollars to his friends and family, the money was never returned, go figure. And every mayor after this has refused to refund our pension fund, their plan is to bankrupt it, hope for the state and federal government to step in and dump money into it. But remember the non-tax paying migrants are WAY more important than we the taxpayers.

The priorities are that the Chicago Teachers pensions comes first as the CTU put the .mayor in office and can take him out.

For everyone else when they are done raping the pensions they will announce a plan to give pensioners pennies on the dollar while.claoming to trying to save everyone something and the pensions will be converted to 401ks so the pensioners will have control over their retirement funds (now that the funds are mostly gone) how noble and righteous

The pensions are just not a big enough crisis yet to be used as a tool to not be allowed to go to waste but we're getting there

The fund invests in special short term Government bonds, the Stock Market and other civilian funds. I have never lost money in my fund no matter how bad things are.

Relax CPD recruitment cheerleader, this department is so segmented and clicky, no one cares about anyone when the big boy politics come up, and no one cares until YOU personally become the victim of that non-sense. And that's when you'll change your tune. So yeah, our camaraderie may be stronger than most suburbs, but this city department is just like every other department. No one cares about you, your colleagues or bosses unless they are in your click, so no one believes that bullshit of one team one fight crap. We saw that from the COVID portal, the city stripping people for shootings and I could go on so the hypocrisy is real.

Honestly it helps out the department as a whole getting back rehires, no one is signing up for this department and no one is coming to save us. More importantly, I think there are still good people in this department, coming back and even applying, the problem is the city is just like any other machine, they pick who they want.
