I sure hope so. After 20 years on, working the hood I met many, many great black people who were tired of the crimes committed in their neighborhoods but the system (whether you agree or not) is designed to keep some people oppressed because crime does pay to the system itself. Now retired I think back of the multiple drug arrests I made and I believed I was doing the right thing. But in reality I feel bad now because those people is all they know. Don't get me wrong, I know much of the violence comes from drugs due to money involved but it's a cycle that will always continue. Maybe Trump will become their savior. There are great people in the hood. A while back working in 10 I lost control of the squad thanks on black ice. On the corner there were 4 guys that I had stopped and searched in the past, they knew me by name. When they say it was me involved they rush to help but I refused their help because I felt as if my leg was broken. All four of them were on their phones calling 911, they stood there until the ambulance showed up. They kept me awake by talking to me making sure I was OK. They were mad that the ambulance took 30 min to arrive due to all the black ice I believe. After that day this fellas could do no wrong in my eyes. They were genuinely concern for my well being. Even before the accident I treated them with respect and I earned it because they respected me. So let's hope the hood becomes the neighborhood where people feel safe.

Years ago, when I worked Special, some of the the citizens on the west and south sides, said they were voting for Trump. Many were tired of the crime.
