Lawyers on Speed-Dial

Fast work by one of the legal bottom feeders here in town:

  • A man who was tackled, struck, and threatened with a gun this week by Chicago police officers who were trying to secure a gun he allegedly possessed sued the city within 40 hours of being arrested, court records show. His lawsuit does not mention that officials claim he was in possession of a stolen gun.

The lies start right away - almost like the lawyer had a form-set ready to go:

  • The lawsuit claims Williams was “peacefully walking on public property” when the police “absent reasonable suspicion, probable cause, right, or other legal right” stopped and detained him and “then commenced hitting and beating him.”

Um, he was observed, on POD camera, with a gun sticking out of his waistband. When he attempted to draw the weapon, he was forcibly taken to the ground. When he refused to relinquish his grip on said weapon and resisted attempts to handcuff him, Officers used naughty language in a verbal attempt to get compliance along with assorted techniques taught to Officers world wide.

He then got treated and released from the hospital after being treated for what medical professionals described as "minor" injuries, but his liar lawyer claims could be permanent, not to dissimilar from his habit of being caught with multiple firearms on multiple occasions without Crimesha making any of them stick.

Amazing that a multiple incident habitual felon has a lawyer on call.

Hey please get me the name of that law firm. I have been dealing with two prominent law firms in Chicago ( both noncriminal matters). Their callback services are abysmal whenever you try to contact them. Now if only I was a scumbag suing the City I would be treated with equity!

Hopefully some judge will release him so he can personally meet and greet some delegates visiting Chicago for the Democrat National Convention.

Again...officers were trying to enforce the Democrats' "common sense gun laws"...trying to arrest this repeat offender and recover the stolen firearm. Now the officers will be hung-out to dry and abandoned by the politicians and citizens who voted for this insanity. Just like the officer that tried to arrest Adam Toledo. {Honk Honk} Clown World!

An example of the race hustle in action.
The lawyer is an active member of the race hustle. File quick, claim racism, lie, get the media to repeat your lies. Wait for a settlement offer. Contribute part of your cut to the Democratic candidate of your choice.
Corporation council caves.
City council caves.
Taxpayers get screwed, again.
Repeat process.
Democrats are the only ones to blame here.

ot-
Looks like Lappe will not be seeking re-election in October for the Retiree pension position. Looks like the FOP is pushing their candidate, T.L. A quick search of the pension meetings will show you that TL has been attending those meetings for the past year. Did he get a heads up about Lappe a year ago? What qualifications other than having served on "numerous" FOP committee's since retiring (that's his part time job after retirement). Why would I vote for a guy the FOP is pushing, the FOP hasn't helped any of the officers that are in or have been in no pay status for months upon months while waiting for the pension bd to approve their duty disabilities for some rather serious injuries.
While TL is a nice enough guy, I don't think he should be the retiree pension bd rep.
On the other hand, there is Rosemarie Giamblavo who has been a thorn in the side of the pension board, exposing some shady financial dealings or lack of fiduciary responsibility.
VOTE for Ro!

This video exemplifies what police work is. Its ugly, violent and dangerous. The bad guy is on probation and was in possession of a stolen firearm. The bad guy refused the police officers law orders and was non compliant the entire time. In all honesty the bad guy should have thanked the coppers for not shooting him. This was an outstanding job by the police. Side note… only thing I would have done differently is I would have unloaded my entire canister of OC spray down bad guys throat in order to gain compliance. I can promise you once he got a taste of the hot sauce he would have surrendered.

Walking and seeing the butt of a gun is not a crime. Concealed carry laws allow an attempt to conceal. Unless he was waving it around or handling it in some manner I tend to agree he was not breaking a known law. If he was in a park, the cta where carrying is not allowed too. Doing an investigatory stop is okay for this situation. Will it be okay for the liberal judges though? And will it be okay for the corporation counsel and copa? I foresee multiple officers facing separation . Easiest thing nowadays is answer your jobs, do nothing proactive, and ignore the SDSC room losers who have never stopped a criminal in their lives, there’s a reason they’re inside.

Has the statute changed since I retired that allowed officers to use any force necessary to effect the arrest?
All the videos usually seen show officers trying to muscle someone into handcuffs.
All the videos show, especially M1 and F1 refusing to comply with even the simplest orders during traffic stops.
No videos show an officer using any force necessary…

Whenever a family has someone senselessly killed on the street or in their own house by some murderous POS, you always hear these heartbroken people, with genuine sincerity, begging for the killing to stop. Somebody, please do something to end all this violence.

When the CPD sees a guy with a gun in his belt, and they goes to arrest the bad guy with a gun, to get him off the street and to do something to end the senseless killings, what is the response? As this bad guy with a gun is resisting arrest and not complying with the officers lawful commands, people are filming the whole scene, interfering with the police, and encouraging the offender to resist. In the twisted hypocrisy of the present day, somehow the problem here is the police. The senseless killing will continue until there is a change of mind and heart in the black community. Someone has to have the courage to speak up.

Before I say i something great job shouldn’t be stripped let alone under investigation. But if these ghetto hoodrat neighborhoods rather have a violent criminal in possession of a gun then let them writing is on the wall stop being proactive in these areas. Let them be lawless. Drive cautiously to the person shot/shots fired/ person with a gun call 99% of bosses are terminating that car chase anyways. Protect yourself a gun arrest is not worth you career or freedom for this libtard city. Either way great police work and sorry you are all going through this nonsense.

It seems to me this attorney is in Violation of the Rules of Ethics for Attorneys. 1.1 COMPETENCE: Thoroughness and Preparation [5] Competent handling of a particular matter includes inquiry into and analysis of the factual and legal elements of the problem, and use of methods and procedures meeting the standards of competent practitioners. It also includes adequate preparation. -The lawyer conduct the first step to determine the validity of the accusations? -His client is, after all, a felon.

RULE 1.2: SCOPE OF REPRESENTATION (d) A lawyer shall not counsel a client to engage, or assist a client, in conduct that the lawyer knows is criminal or fraudulent,

RULE 3.3: CANDOR TOWARD THE TRIBUNAL
(a) A lawyer shall not knowingly: (1) make a false statement of fact or law to a tribunal or fail to correct a false statement of
material fact or law previously made to the tribunal by the lawyer; (b) A lawyer who represents a client in an adjudicative proceeding and who knows that a person intends to engage, is engaging or has engaged in criminal or fraudulent conduct related to the proceeding shall take reasonable remedial measures, including, if necessary, disclosure to the tribunal. (Do medicals records support the claim?)

We have plenty of attorneys on The Department and retired from The Department. Maybe the FOP can get a pro-bono filing of a formal complaint with the ARDC against the jagoff scumbag attorney who filed this BS case with no prior investigation/evaluation of merits. It's per-se frivolous and a waste of The Court's time.

You are 110% correct.
Back when most everyone was aghast at the Fabulous Floyd Footage I was not.
I suspected, and was later proved correct, that the clips shown on the news were the worst of the footage. There was lots of footage showing St, Floyd of Fentanyl fighting back, then either nodding off or pretending to comply and then going right back to fighting.

I asked everyone who was "horrified" at the footage "How would you hold him down until the ambulance got there?"

None of them had an answer.

There is no way to arrest a noncompliant offender that will look good on camera to cop haters.

Hey 08:40am, did I miss something? Concealed Carry means just that! Showing the butt of the gun is NOT concealed and therefore illegal and PC for the stop. Just Saying...

Not a lawyer; however, “Concealed firearm" means a loaded or unloaded handgun carried on or about a person completely or mostly concealed from view of the public or on or about a person within a vehicle” the usage of the undefined term “mostly” reads to me that a simple butt or bump or imprint of a handgun observed under a shirt or pants is acceptable in terms of concealment. Is the observed imprint of a possible gun enough to stop someone if they’re on the public way and not in an illegal designated area such as a city park? You ask any tac guy and they’ll say sure most likely. I’m not a lawyer, I’m not read up on case law and settlements, but it doesn’t seem enough for a PC stop, maybe a RAS stop with additional information if the guy is walking on a sidewalk. What are they teaching in the academy nowadays?

0849…. If the POD saw it and they saw it, it clearly wasn’t concealed. He’s also a convicted felon so he can’t have it anyway. He also obstructed the investigation and proceeded to resist afterward. It’s a solid arrest. So go spew your “don’t do anything” dogass garbage elsewhere.

Put the SDSC room officer in box one of the arrest . Let him go to court. He’s not the one having to deal with the lawsuit after the incident. That’s why whenever they would call shit out on the air I would call the SDSC room and say you’re going on the arrest report, box one & you can testify as what you observed. They would get quiet as a crackhead with a crack pipe in their butt crack..

Democrats don't want you to arrest gun offenders, democrats don't want anyone prosecuted under the current gun laws. But they want to pass more and more restrictive gun laws to make who safer? Their real plan is to disarm law-abiding citizens, and then go after the 1st Amendment.
