- Officers investigating a woman’s 911 call, claiming she was unsafe in
a vehicle with people who had four guns, fired shots at a suspect’s car
and later arrested a person in Old Town on Sunday evening. No injuries
from gunfire were reported.
According to initial information, the woman called 911 around 6:36 p.m., reporting that she was not safe in a silver car northbound on Lake Shore Drive near Ontario Street. She told a 911 operator that the people in the car had four guns.
After receiving additional information about the car’s location, police stopped a vehicle matching its description in the 300 block of West Division around 6:50 p.m.
According to a CPD statement, the car’s occupants refused to follow the officers’ commands and the driver struck one of the police vehicles. An officer fired toward the vehicle, which fled the scene, according to the statement. Police did not say why the officer fired on the vehicle.
With little to fear from actual prosecution or jail time, this has now become common.
Be careful out there.

Just another day in the River North ‘hood!
They being said, some more range time should be in order.
Very little in the news about the guy who opened fire on responding officers at 52nd and Homan. Hit the squad car, but thankfully no officers injured.
Fired at a fleeing vehicle. Copper is cooked.
Enjoy call back for shooting at cars Doesn’t matter why
How about the brand new merit Lt in 024! Merit pick by Talley, gets assigned to 024 after being a sgt in IAD and is the Tac Lt day one as a Lt. WTF is that.
Big no no shooting st car. What was he thinking. Of course on chase was there. Guess the police have been denutered. Next they will be coming after your guns.
Never gonna take the ghetto from certain people it’s what they know and what they learn from home
2 year suspension coming

Isn't that basically what happened exactly in 011 a year or two back? It explains many things. I believe she is still the Tact Lt. despite ongoing issues.
I guess if you can be a Commander with seven weeks as a Lt., (seven weeks including furlough and medical time), I guess you can be a Tact Lt. right out of the academy as a merit pick. I believe a Lt. needs three years in grade to be a Captain. But, you can be a Commander instead within seven weeks. It makes sense only in this ridiculous City and Department.
Next, someone will tell me that you can't shoot out the tires on a fleeing vehicle.
it's all legit kid,,,,, it's all legit,,,,,,
any bets that car was full of those cps honor roll students on the way to the library to do their reports on the racist police the liberal teachers wanted them to do
Violence on the pretty north side?
Talley never did a damn thing. Worthless merit
Yep. WTF was he thinking this was year 1990?
Too bad that corrections officer wasn't involved......
Im not surprised at all this happened with this PO
Nothing about 008 tact getting shot at Sunday night?
Tact Lt is a lot easier than WOL position. Less admin, flexible hours, take home car, and NO TRRs which reduces liability. That's why it usually is filled by merit Lts
Unless a “protected person “
Or was it a she ?
Was the car coming at the officer? Did the officer shoot in self defense? It's not clear from the article.
Off topic, sorry, regarding the retiree trustee election to the pension board I have a question. The one person running, Rosemarie, supposedly lives in Las Vegas. Does she plan on flying back to Chicago for each meeting and relative session? If so does she pay for this expense or is it paid for by the pension fund? Thanks for any input or answers.
As a Chicago citizen, I wish that CPD officers were more heavily armed to protect themselves and the public. I travel several times a year to Switzerland on business and the police in the train stations at the airport and out in the public all carry H&K MP5 22LR's in addition to one, but mostly two Glocks or Sig's plus tasers.
But BJ will never let this look happen and will continue to place our police officers in harm's way.
I was asked once last fall while on a train coming from Bellinzona Switzerland by a Swiss Police Officer for my passport in a check. Three officers, one who requested it, a female about 26-28 YO very courteous. Standing behind her were two male PO's each with half balacava face masks and each carrying an MP5.
After me, there went up the train aisle and they asked two mid-twenty year old males, one white, one black for their passports. These guy's starting giving the female PO shit and both male Swiss officers just grabbed them by their jacket collars and dragged them along the floor to the vestibule in back of the train and handcuffed them. Then they cuffed the two young women who were with them. None of the other passengers said a thing. No one took photos with their cellphones, no one said shit about their civil rights.
Found out later, that all four were illegal's who entered the country without passports. In Switzerland, you will be physically removed from the country if caught W/O a passport.
Hopefully DJT starts the same process in the US.
nEutered - no "de."
RENO 911! River North Edition
a complete stroke so is her big goof husband
plateau
In my part of the world, Wyoming, 120 or so years ago Sheriff's deputies carried belted pistols but their primary arm in town was a 12 gauge double barrel, sometime a Winchester Model 1887 10 gauge coach gun. My Great Grandfather carried a 20 gauge Model 11 Remington up in Cody about 1910. He had 5 fast shots with single "O" buckshot. I remember him when he was in in 90's in the early 1960's saying no body argued with a shotgun.
I don't care where she lives. I'll never vote for her because she sued the original Second City Cop because her feelings got hurt. She wanted full discovery of all posts. The page had to shut down.
Lt AD now in Callback would be proud of how he trained one of his pupils
My thoughts exactly. Can't wait for the BWC footage.
Fired at fleeing car, his career is over.
The Commander of 018 never responded to the scene.
She’s not the tact Lt. if you’re simply looking at data warehouse and see her on 4th watch, you’ve never been a detective. Half the class is still assigned to 4th watch as the watch system hasn’t been updated as they’re still in “school” completing required training hours. She will def go back to IAD under 2 months but she’ll never be a tact LT.
Thanks
Let the usual mindless “you’re a libtard, you hate police bullshit flow”. But as a conservative, who was a kid, cousin, friend of many cops, I don’t want our country to be a place where the police walk around with masks on. “ Standing behind her were two male PO's each with half balacava face masks and each carrying an MP5.”
And you say you’re a citizen, implying NOT a cop, so I’m hoping some of the cops here who believe in law and order, and you know the whole constitution thing, agree with me. But like I said I expect a flood of simple minded bullshit to come my way.
Of course Barz didn’t. He pushes for traffic stops and when shit hits the fan he leaves us holding the bag of shit like he is. He has no business being in command of anything other than bubbas brat in the joint.
Any private pics of the officer involved circulating on anyone’s phone?
She doesn't live in Las Vegas. She lives in a suburb of Chicago. Get your FACTS straight before you go spewing the FOP BS. VOTE FOR RO!
Commanders do get furlos… seeing as he was absent at marathon as well, with that occurring in his district I’d guess he was off and out of the city as who’d stick around in this hellhole if you could get away.
