Off Duty Sheriff
Someone tried to rob and off duty sheriff:
- An attempted armed robbery ended in a shooting and a car engulfed in flames on the city's West Side. The
shooting happened on Sunday around 1:41 a.m. near Lake and Morgan in
the Fulton Market District, according to Chicago police. Police said the offender jumped out of a Ford SUV and tried to rob a man at gunpoint.
The victim was an off-duty correctional deputy, according to the Cook County Sheriff's Office. The off-duty deputy pulled out his own gun and fired several shots toward the offender.
No one was hit. The suspect ran off.
"No one was hit." And no one can explain the burning SUV or if that was just coincidence.
- There’s a plot twist to report in the overnight attempted robbery of
an off-duty Cook County correctional officer in the West Loop. The
officer pulled a gun and fired at the robber and a second man as they
ran from the scene, Chicago police said, adding that no injuries were
reported.
But we have learned that a man with five gunshot wounds arrived at Rush Hospital in an Uber about 30 minutes after the shooting. Investigators were working to determine if he was shot by the correctional officer.
If this sheriff scored five hits, well done indeed.

We should make the deputy a range guy.
But wait there’s more the sheriff was near and accurate 5 times nice Sorry Shithead
Glad crimes down!
One shitbird hit and a blown up car. Damn that boy's good.
That's good shootin'.
If he hit perp the CPD should hire him to teach the CPD how to shoot. Way to many Cod fires gun with no body hit.
As a retired cRook county officer myself, we are still not able to get an IROCC card, despite a law signed/ passed on january 2023. No help from FOP or teamsters. ( If you go on the irocc website, it says county officers do NOT apply at this time....) Sure hope he had a CCL, as we are only authorized to carry to/from work. Pathetic.
He should get some kind of sharpshooter award.
Probably a Corrections officer (jail guard)
They can't carry at work, so why off-duty? Seems like they don't require a firearm for their job.
What is the car an EV?
I’m from Chicago. What’s a perp?
Riddle me the burning SUV (left running during a robbery and abandoned):
-Stray bullet to the gas tank?
-Lighting bolt from God?
More to this fucked up shooting by jr. jail guard et al. Believe me.
I dont know if all jail guards are aiming to be deputies, but a neighbor’s kid had to work a year in the jail after academy before he could become a deputy.
It's complicated, because some years ago County CO's were not considered as "law enforcement", and weren't authorized to carry off duty. Some agencies would arrest CO's found carrying off-duty. Enough problems with CO's running into released offenders caused a law change in Illinois making them eligible, but they've been screwed on getting IROCC cards because they aren't considered "law enforcement" by the ILETSB. Some sued some years ago and lost. (But hey, the ILETSB still allows Chicago to grant police powers to private security guards with no academy or state certification). See the Municipal Code of Chicago 4-30-010
An Uber driver picked up a bleeding guy shot five times?
Too much Law & Order, not enough Chicago PD.
Concealed carry license is rather easy to get.
Must have been surge pricing.
