As Many Have Said....

....a lot of questions:

  • The cause of death remains unknown for a Chicago police officer found fatally shot Wednesday in Garfield Ridge, officials said Thursday.

The 27-year-old officer was found dead inside her home with a gunshot wound to her head, according to Chicago police. A death investigation is underway.

A Thursday autopsy was inconclusive and pending a police investigation, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

And this info....seriously?

  • Over police radio, dispatchers told responding officers “girlfriend hit her head.” A dispatcher then said, “they’re doing CPR on her,” asking that an officer go to the scene to “make sure everything is OK.”

Resolve that paragraph with the second paragraph.

And added to the stress in 006, no one knows if the commander might actually show up at services this time around.

You mean to tell me that as a sworn officer you could not tell the difference between falling vs being shot! If I were the grieving family I’d be looking for a private investigation, a lot of bullshit from the boyfriend. Poor girl may she rest in peace.

So a police officer's girlfriend was shot in the head, and he stated that she hit her head and he was performing CPR? I'm no doctor, but I've seen a few gunshot wounds to the head. Never did I think the victim just hit their head on something. And I'd have to assume he was present when she was shot in the head, so he heard a gunshot and assumed she just "hit her head?" Who's he connected to? This smells fishier than Lawrence's.

With another chicago police officer involved I’m sure the bureau of internal affairs (BIA) will want to get involved some how. If that happens; it’s all about what’s the outcome the bosses want. The Detectives are assigned the death investigation and or any criminal outcome. BIA are spoilers and do the bosses bidding.

The CPD has been averaging a suicide every month for the past 5 years. (It’s a Third-World police department with better pay.) The younger generation is also much softer and can’t handle the streets and being treated like an expendable. This is only going to get worse.

Did the detectives talk the victim out of pursuing the investigation? Yes, even a death victim. We need the pit-bull sergeant from the 1st District to handle this incident.

If he walks in, calls 911 and starts CPR, either a gun is laying next to her or it isn’t.
Either the gun is there from self inflicted wound OR
Gun removed by shooter/boyfriend

I agree. The younger kids dont seem to come to his job with many coping skills. Maybe we should drop the college requirement altogether for hiring. When I came on I only needed a GED or HS diploma and a drivers license. We were in better shape, and had street smarts from the get go. Although, sadly, I dont think people like me would even apply to take this job anymore. Glad Im retired. I just received another cola raise...Wah-hoo..! Here comes full social security now! Trump is president again...Winning!!!

well,,,,, just look at how well some previous "suicides" were handled by the boss's who had "a connection" with the victim or spouse,,,, evidence ordered to be removed from crime scene and very quickly picked up by streets and sanitation at the district thanks to a mysterious female p.o. calling

So true. The new hires going back 10 years are the most sensitive crybabies this department has ever seen. They cry about working the ghetto or God forbid, doing their time on midnights. They have constant mental breakdowns, cry and get numbers on supervisors for getting yelled at, whine about the promotions, overtime availability by seniority, etc. Never have there been so many young men and women working inside spots at 35th, academy, commanders office, you name it!!

I dont know, been plenty of guys/gals with time on, or retired, who have committed suicide sadly. They were probably all just weak and soft and couldn’t handle the streets either, just like you said. Or maybe there’s other things going on and they’re not all killing themselves because they don’t like working on the street. Thanks for your brilliant diagnosis. Maybe no one told you growing up, but your opinion doesn’t mean anything, so how about next time a copper dies, you refrain from telling everyone they’re dead and that you decided the reason is they’re just too weak and soft to handle the streets. You ignorant asshole.

Apparently not many detectives on this thread.. most if not all GSW suicides have an initial finding of cause of death by GSW by an undetermined means. Alls that means is that the girl died by a GSW. HOW, it happened is always undetermined by coroner because they don’t investigate that part.. they just say how she died, not why and by who including if done by themselves… The detective division through investigation will then classify the death investigation as suicide or homicide. As I am privy to the actual events and facts of this case, this will be ruled in short time as a suicide. Please stop speculating, most here are not detectives and we’re not on scene that night. All you do here is give the media and haters ammo to believe conspiracy theories which will tarnish this poor girls memory, add stress to the boyfriend who has already been ruled out and create a circus where there does not need to be a circus. GSRs all performed on both along with powder burns and other information that will remain in the investigation that points this as 100 percent suicide. Learn how to interpret the results of a coroners report instead of spouting off that is now suspicious because it says “undetermined”.. they all say that until the detective classifies it via investigation.

Hey, "detective," we don't have a coroner here. We have a medical examiner. "Alls" that means is that you don't know as much as you think you do. Leaving the cause of death and means up to the detectives opens up all kinds of opportunities for covering up whatever actually happened. I'm not saying that happened here, but detectives don't have the training or expertise to determine if a GSW to the head was self-inflicted or not. GSR washes off, powder burns aren't good evidence to determine who fired the shot, detectives can miss evidence or tamper with it, the surviving officer could've manipulated everything at the scene before anyone else arrived. There are too many possibilities that you're dismissing, while just assuming everyone else is ignorant because they're not a super smart detective like yourself. I believe this was probably a suicide, but the information released so far leaves a lot of room for other possibilities. If you're actually "privy" to the actual facts of the case, you would know you aren't supposed to talk about it, including anonymously on this site. Nothing is ever "100 percent suicide," and saying dumb shit like that makes it obvious you're not a very good detective, if you're even one at all.

☝🏽 gtoh out of here…”wasn’t a house mouse” yet she had a whole 3 years on the job including 6 months as a recruit and another year as a PPO. So that’s 1.5 years left for her time on tac and 3rd watch. Bottom line, people who aren’t cut for this job are being hired. Anyone with 3 years on should be on 1st watch pushing a beat car learning the job.

The amount of misguided blind hatred and ignorance towards a D Unit that has the highest murder clearance rate in the last 10 years and has taken serious strides of late to move in the right direction is really shitty. If you think there aren’t detectives in this city working their bags off and putting their best feet forward, you’re nuts. To those of you in patrol, we are on the same fucking team. IF a police officer was murdered, nobody would be more motivated than Chicago Police detectives to get to the bottom of it. A lot of you have poor experiences with Area 3 property crimes detectives who are retired on duty and you’re projecting that experience onto all of us, it’s bullshit. I don’t do that when a paper car fucks up a scene, touches everything they shouldn’t, or doesn’t bother to send a car to the hospital. A lot goes into something like this. We have guys here ragging on ETs (what should they have done differently here)? We have guys saying they don’t trust the area or IRT (PK is one of the most high integrity and quality leaders this department has had in 20 years)? No unit in this agency is perfect but FFS, don’t cast stones and be in a glass house. The friendly fire is crazy. If you haven’t been explicitly trained on the extremely nuanced manners in which a trained investigator distinguishes a suicide from a a homicide, you aren’t qualified to evaluate the work of those that are. Period. Plain and simple, this is nuanced police work. I don’t know how to write a wire tap, fly the helicopter, or defuse a bomb. So, I don’t call those that do incompetent and pretend to know the first fucking thing about their competence. Cmon now.

No Chicago police detective is trained or qualified to determine if a death is a suicide or homicide. You simply can't make that call in some cases. It's guesswork based on a few clues. I guarantee you that a homicide can be made to look like a suicide, and vice versa. Pretending that's not the case, and pretending you have some special training and experience, is just ridiculous.

It’s the luck of the draw and who is sent out. That is if the scene is protected. If the scene compromised before the investigator arrives
