One of the more controversial individuals in the command structure finally got slapped down a peg.
- After being told he was going to work a St Patrick's Day event, Barz told the higher ups "nope," that he was going to Japan on a "vacation" and he was leaving in a few months anyway so do whatever.
Seems that they did "whatever" and Barz had to be escorted out of HQ after being demoted to captain and blowing his top.
Now, when is the media going to pick up on the Yoyo's cover-up for the domestic detective being left in place while the victim - who saved and forwarded multiple emails outlining the offenses to her commander and the commander of IAD (Yoyo) - was told to bid elsewhere to avoid a co-worker who threatened her with death?
UPDATE: Someone get word to Barz....

I was one of the Watch Secretary’s in a Westside district when I first encountered Barz. I consider it one of the most lacking moments in my life where I didn’t speak my mind and stand up for someone that I greatly respected and admired. We just lost our beloved Watch Commander RM who moved on to another department. The replacement Watch Commander was on the Medical and Barz had to fill in. After a couple of days Barz said to me, “I don’t know what the big fuss was over RM….he left the Watch all fucked up and I am not impressed.” I remember those words like yesterday. RM was one of the mostly respected bosses on the department. Highly qualified and decorated. I should have told Barz that he was a piece of shit…but didn’t. I consider it one of the biggest lack of intestinal fortitude of my life.

I normally don’t post on here. I am very disappointed in Snelling. I think we all thought that he would be different. He stood for things that seemed ethical. He really is a coward. Talley especially, I don’t get why anyone would want this woman in charge. She has no business being in any position of power. These are the kinds of incidents where nobody is innocent. I’m female. 30-40 years ago was tough trying to prove yourself and stay out of the hands of wolves and even if you did, rumors still got made up about you. About 25 years ago, I started to see a change. The women that played and then would go on to bring up lawsuits for “sex harassment, discrimination etc” eventhough they were willing participants. It continued to make things hard for women officers like myself who were just trying to do their job. I saw so many bimbos get undeserved promotions or good spots. But in the end it was just the female equivalent of guys who got promoted or put to good units for wrong reasons.

At the supervisors’ photo event the superintendent joked about Chief Talley, dumping and stripping officers. He thought that it was so funny, although many officers were stripped in retaliation and has done nothing wrong, at least not as much as Chief Talley has done. In her career Chief Talley was involved in a dating relationship with a married sergeant that ended in him taking his own life after she was putting pressure on him to leave his wife and children (she actually pinged his cellphone and found him under Low Wacker Drive), personal vehicle pulled over after a week of drug surveillance, tied to a botched search warrant that resulted in millions being paid out, several lawsuits, several internal retaliation beefs, rule 14 violations after testifying at the city council, abuse of power, interfering in internal investigations, intimidating IAD investigators, civil rights violations utilizing IAD confidential to spy on officers to assist with her retaliation, bogus search warrants to obtain data from officers personal cell phones, stalking and spying on officers, nepotism, ethical violations involving local government, associating with a convicted felon and other Official Misconduct Offenses.
Hopefully, Commander D. Ward will clear out the callback, where Chief Talley has stripped off and has had them sitting for years even after they were cleared. We can use the manpower. The joke is on you Supe.

If you ask the coppers working in 016 they will tell you how they’re constantly tied up on paper. Sitting on prisoners at the two in district hospitals. Sitting on a house details, etc etc. How are these officers supposed to have time to proactively police. The beats in 016 are the size of suburbs Harwood Heights and Norridge. The district isn’t what it once was crime statistic wise. So let’s not blame the coppers working in 016, they are doing the best they can. Beat 1622 is nearly the size of the 015th or 020th district. Imagine one beat car patrolling 015. Try to make it make sense.

Maybe it once was, sure, but those days are gone and 016 is generating more RD’s than ghetto districts.

Be mindful how you treat others on this job, so when it’s your time to retire you can live in peace. For some the stripes make them powerful because beyond that they will be nothing as a civilian. When you do right by others, you won’t have to hold on to titles or watch your back. Be kind.

Worked for Mike in 001 a few years back. He was a solid LT back then and ran the foot unit smoothly. Zero complaints. However, bosses tend to change as stress levels increase. Especially in this no good, incompetent, merit lead department. You can only hope the incompetent merit fools above him don’t meddle too much in district level operations. Glad you guys/gals can finally take a breather from Barz.
