- You heard it here first, there’s an email coming out today for inside people and lockup guys. All inside people must wear their vest and BWC. And people issuing equipment must activate their BWC when issuing equipment. I guess there was a fight between radio room guy and a copper in 012 where guns were pulled. Also WOLs will take note of what time BWCs are docked for inside people. Also lockup officer must leave BWCs on whenever there is a prisoner in a cell and leave it running all day. No more splitting the shifts for inside people.
There are already dozens of cameras in lockups and more in the newest stations public areas. But hey, better surveil everything and everyone all the time.
This is what happens when hiring standards fall.

The batteries for AB4 cameras dont even last a full 8 hours from my experience
Dept more concerned about getting numbers on personnel than officer safety . How many lockups have an active alarm system in place if an emergency occurs inside lockup. I'm sure not many as most districts disregard the general order relative to lockup protocol.
I mean, why not at this point. I’m surprised this department doesn’t force the bomb techs to record themselves dismantling a bomb. Only to be FOIA’D later on by terrorists. This City already demands we BWC plenty of other security sensitive jobs that literally involve inanimate objects and zero detainment of any persons. The lack of critical thinking behind these policies is astonishing. Not to mention, how much does the data storage cost and who exactly is paying for that?

Johnson won’t be here after the next mayoral election. But the city will be in ruins. The city is in serious trouble and most people just don’t see it. At some point the city will have trouble providing services and making things work.

Hey now, let's not blame the 12th District. I know both of those coppers...they are squared-away. (Besides we all know how upset we get when the radio room gives away our favorite squad car and gives us a long-stem when they know we only use a short-stem.) And don't blame the new hires either. The PPOs coming out the last several years have been top-notch. Real go-getters. When I have to work inside (don't ask...I have a doctor's note) I always wear my Molle vest and riot helmet anyway. You can never be too careful.

Probably because too many people including CAPS have illegal keys to the radio room. The radio room should be manned at all times. After the radio guy or gal are done they generally go down and help with reports. People sneak in and take whatever they want and don’t write it down. The radio person is responsible for single radio, taser, rifle and any other equipment up there. Radio guy probably didn’t want a CR because of some ass hat walking in.

I retired and escaped the city 6 years ago. I spent some time in one of the better North Side districts. Most of the guys went there and stayed there. Some never took promotional tests since they would have to leave the district. Most were there for 30 or more years. Like any dysfunctional family there were petty spats. Some escalated to parking lot fights. Some guys married the divorced spouses of their fellow officers. That's why you never take your wives to the watch parties. Now retired and after thirty years of talking shit about each other and bickering they now get together once a month for lunch to talk about the GREAT times they had. Ya can't make this shit up...

As I worked inside radio & lots of peeps did their best to give me a hard time. I tried to tell them that the watch secretary typed in what the w/c dictated as to who gets what but it's hard to reach stupid. I got to go home early alot & I deserved it being that I never got promoted. I had to get something. Boy, the things I can write about but I'll leave it here.

I feel really for sorry for the good people that don’t have the time or age to escape. These poor individuals are under ever increasing scrutiny, with harsher penalties and decreasing support, all while the IQ of the command staff plummets and the dept continues to lower the standards to get more shitheads on the job.

These two guys actually check to see how we are doing outside of this stupid place. 12 has been going down the shitter for years. Lt Bartoli was the only Lt that was worth anything and he retired. Everyone sucks. And they are right Ed is completely useless and has been that was his full career. He isn’t the only one. The commanders admin staff sucks. Only one worth a damn is the time keeper.
