Saw the shooting and apprehended the gunman:
A Chicago police officer witnessed a shooting and then successfully chased and apprehended the gunman in West Garfield Park on Saturday morning.
According to CPD, an 18-year-old man was in the alley behind the 200 block of South Cicero when the gunman pulled a gun and started shooting around 11:01 a.m. The victim, shot multiple times in the face and body, was in critical condition at Mt. Sinai Hospital.
But CPD did not reveal that an on-duty officer witnessed the shooting and arrested the gunman.
The officer was so close to the shooting, a gunshot could be heard in the background as he reported the crime in progress on his radio.

I remember a time when me and my partner responded to a SST event with I what remember was only one round(we ended up hearing another round around the alley infront of us barely 30 feet away probably), truth be told we thankfully didn't get shot from this dirtbag. Perfect arrest and a long day during the canceled 12 hour days.
Be careful? Implying what? Let innocent people get murdered in front of you? F that stay ready, stay alive. Better to be fired than have your name on the wall.

Wow. A truly harrowing story. Hopefully you took some time to decompress after hearing a gun shot in your general vicinity. You were basically in a shooting. Just glad you came out alive.
Beautiful piece of police work by this fine Officer in all aspects, and of course media will ignore it---this doesn't fit their narrative. Great job Office, and everyone have a safe & blessed Memorial Day.
