High school presently is, theorectically, 14, 15, 16 and 17 years of age.
Severe the connection of high school into:
High school becomes 14 and 15 years of age
And
Prep school for the Real World becomes 16 and 17 years of age, splitting into:
College bound.
Trades bound.

I graduated from Taft. But sent my boys to Private school after seeing what the building looks like after several years. CPS should be sued for not having security......Taft turned into a Gladiator school.

I laugh every time I hear a copper tell me how good Taft has become. Heap pricks just don’t want to pay the tuition. It’ll cost you in the long run that’s for sure. Then they show you their new $90k suv they have to have. Priorities people.
You get what you pay for. You want the teachers breaking it up, why should they? The principles and most teachers wanted the Police in schools. It was the CTU and the mayor who wanted them out.

It is good to see young kids getting some exercise. Kids today are looking a little pudgy IMHO. This melee likely began over some trivial social media post. On Monday, one of these kids will bring a pistol to finally settle it. I look forward to meeting some of these youths working at the local fast food restaurants, convenient stores etc...
This is why, when I lived in that shithole. I paid 8k a year for grade school and 17k for high school. On top of paying (in my property taxes) for one of these assholes to attend daycare.

Taft. Where coppers send their kids to school only for them to turn into lazy, orange man bad, open borders, whyyytes are all raesist, usual suspects are amazing and misunderstood, God doesn’t exist incel types.
Taft's biggest problem to solve isn't the 4th huge fight there in the last 4 weeks with a police presence needed, it's their self-inflicted overcrowding problem.
Currently, Taft has 4135 students combined at both of their schools, main campus in Norwood Park and the Freshmen Academy in the Dunning neighborhood/38th Ward (Sposato).
1400+ (34%) of Taft's students attend from outside their school attendance boundary and get in by applying for their IB, Navy JROTC, and Special Education programs along with their 7th/8th Grade Academic center. This doesn't include the student residency fraudsters.
Taft's administrators claim 90% of their students come from inside their attendance boundary. THAT'S BULLSHIT!!!!
All of this allows for students (and gangbangers from rival gangs) come in from across the North and NW side to infiltrate Taft and start their bullshit.
Mayor CTU has promised an investment in neighborhood schools like Taft, the problem other schools are getting the support and their enrollments are dwindling while Taft's enrollment is popping at the seams.
Conversely, kids would rather go to Taft than a school like Steinmetz that only has 841 students with a building that's now nearly 50% underutilized with only 11% of kids from their neighborhood going to Steinmetz.
More troubling is Taft has the most teachers and staffers getting CPS Employee Residency waivers and allowed to live outside Chicago. That number is 38, THIRTY EIGHT!!!. These suburbanites have no idea what goes on in the city and creates another problem in dealing with inner city kids.

When I went to Taft, in the later half of the 70's, we had our first resource officer for the school assigned in maybe 79. Via a friends Father on CPD, he was known as Sprio the Hero in the youth division. There was a single demographic in the school up to that point. An idiot student decided to punch the officer in the nose. That got quite of few of the 016 - 2nd watch to respond. I remember looking out a window and wondering why so many squad cars with lights on were on the street. Needless to say, at the point in time, there were no cell phones, BWC, or other means to document the arrest. I never heard of that individual causing problems at school again.

Most importantly, though, the bills for rich and poor are higher because the entities that levy property taxes keep demanding more and more money (as Pappas put it, “spending like drunken sailors”). Chicago Public Schools in particular spends money well beyond the rate of inflation. People right now are tending to focus on assessments and far less on the levy.

Why doesn't everyone who is sleeping in the station go protect Taft High school. All they are good for is smoking cigarettes in front of the station all day. What the heck is Caps doing? All they do is eat and nap all day. Have them all nap 2 hours a day near Taft. All we need is Big Tim now that is a boss to get 016 fit again. Nobody would act up if he was Commander.
