Calling the attorneys representing the family of slain Chicago Police Officer Krystal Rivera “lower than whale sh**,” the head of the city’s largest police union has unleashed a blistering attack on the relatives’ wrongful death lawsuit that suggests another cop may have intentionally killed the officer on duty and left her to die.
“This is as low as it gets,” Fraternal Order of Police President John Catanzara said in a YouTube video, directing his anger at the law firm Romanucci & Blandin after it sued Rivera’s partner, Officer Carlos Baker, and the city over Rivera’s death on June 5.
Unless the City settles, this one is going to be an on-going embarrassment for years, painting the Department, hiring practices, personnel decisions and inconsistent disciplinary processes in the worst possible light.

This is the same video we talked about here a few weeks ago.
But it's good to go at it again. The narrative given about what happened that night does not make sense.
And if it takes a "bottom-feeding" attorney to find it, then so be it.

I have no problem with a mother of an officer suing the city. Because training is inadequate. How can an officer not know he fired his gun? That is a training issue! You have access and then again there are accidents! This individual is not qualified to be the police is proven by killing his partner. The one most sacred things at a job is your partner. This is not some movie like top gun. The officer either needs to get another city job. For sure he needs to lose his police job Because he’s not capable of doing it.
Well....Be that change.
It’s going to make cpd look bad, not a tall task to accomplish, but it’s needed. Let everything come out. At least save some face for the rank and file officers who still think being a Chicago cop carries any type of credibility with it
I feel like our union is carrying the water for the city. What do they care who, what or if anyone sues the city. They represent union members not the city. I’m fine letting a law suit on the city play out. I just wish I could get on a jury involving the city or CPD. Because I know how things really work. Change will only come when the city has to give money out to someone who is not a friend or family member of the connected.
Be careful which side you take blindly. It could be the wrong one.
CPD is currently dysfunctional best. The FOP union seems to be joining the department in that regards.

John Catanzara is great at calling people out . The only problem is he doesn’t like being called out . He’s been in trouble his entire life . He thrives on chaos because then no one looks at him .
He recently had his “Board of Directors “ find him guilty of excess spending . He took 30k and spent it and never gave it back . He spent 35k on a victory celebration and never gave paid back the difference .
Here is a guy who won’t reveal what an “ Federal “ investigation has subpoenaed Fop ‘s financial records . He has completed false police reports , worked on the medical , groomed a young high school girl and took her to Mexico and violated an order of protection .
In the past few years he’s gotten c r numbers on other cops and went all over the country including Croatia and Jamaica on the hardworking members of this department.
I wouldn’t mind if someone else called out anyone but here’s a guy who can’t get above the first floor of 35th street . Throw in anyone who has got in his way he’s tried to destroy them . How

John Catanzara’s statement attacking your firm is a classic case of projection. His words mirror a long pattern in his own life and career particularly his documented behavior towards fellow officers, particularly women, and his history of defending like-minded individuals within the department. JCat is lower “than whale sh**!” If you subpoena the officers and women whose lives JCAT has damaged, and examine his background honestly, the picture becomes very clear. What he accuses others of is, in fact, what he has repeatedly demonstrated himself. His remarks are not about justice or accountability they are about deflection. Baker knows what he did like many of us know.
When JCAT says, “This is as low as it gets,” he is describing his own conduct and leadership, not yours. In my opinion, JCAT’s record speaks far louder than any YouTube video ever could. When he defends bad seeds it’s because he is one.

Unfortunately the beautiful Krystal can't pay her dues anymore because she's dead. The whole public story of what happened smells like rotten fish. Then again, you can always count on CPD covering up a CPD shooting. Eventually the truth comes out and the city will pay millions. What other department investigates their own shootings?

Most, if not all these law firms are scared to go against CPD with such extreme Corruption… In this case the family had to take whatever law firm has some type of courage… I support the Rivera family, a young child is motherless because CPD failed to do their job.

I do not personally know the officers involved.
1. One does not know the totality of the circumstances as to what occurred with the officer whose weapon was discharged or the officer struck.
2. There are several instances where officers have discharged their weapons just ONCE through the years, and due to the circumstances, the officers were unaware of the discharge.
3. If one was not the person(s) investigating what occurred, then one doesn't have any idea as to the circumstances that led to the event, the event itself or the end of the event.
4. If there was any hint that the officer whose weapon discharged intentionally fired at the partner, the investigation would have disclosed that. All the rest is a family now looking for a payday who have a shady lawyer latching on to the other BS which occurred prior and is unrelated to this event.
They won’t get rid of him, he checks off too many boxes.
A catalyst for something is always the most effective one to choose.
Defining that something, being the result desired, takes thoughtful considering.
To deduce the desired result desired, one needs to consider that some catalysts required for some result desired can seem quite a bit absurd.
Thus, this catalyst, producing such obvious contradictions, may be intended to result in the obvious rejections, thus, bringing into crisp focus the absurdities of it.
Almost as if it was crafted to such result.
