Shots Fired
Chicago police officers exchanged gunfire with a man while responding to a “person with a gun” call in the South Chicago neighborhood Monday night, according to CPD. No officers were injured, but the suspect is in serious condition with gunshot wounds, police said.
At about 10:35 p.m., a 911 caller reported that a strange man wearing a colorful hoodie walked up to their home with a gun in the 8200 block of South Shore Drive, according to dispatch audio.
Within two minutes, officers responding to the call reported that a suspect was running and, moments later, those officers requested an ambulance for the man, saying he had been shot by police. CPD said the officers had tried to conduct an investigatory stop and directed the man to keep his hands visible before the shooting.
An officer said shots were fired by both the man and the police. A firearm was located at the scene, according to a CPD statement.
Well done Officers, removing the threat to yourselves and citizens without harm to either....only the bad guy.

Congrats officers for a job well done. Certainly proved CPD are better shooters than Secret Service, FIBs, DC Metro etc.
The de-escalation technique deployed by the officers worked perfectly.
A "strange man with a colorful hoody" could describe much of the Usual Suspect miscreant population.
Sure is a lot of colorful clothing around there. All kidding aside, glad our guys are safe and the bush ain't a playground.
Maybe, just maybe a kind word from the "community" or one of the "revs!"
offender should fie a law suit for allowing him out on no cash bond, probation,parole or electronic monitoring ???

Thank God the officer's weren't injured physically. May they get through the rest of this unharmed mentally.

Where & when did it become "a thing" to sue the city, police & the officers for a justified homicide?? My kid kills someone or even shoots at someone & then throws shots at police how do you win a court case??? Your honor, my dear baby boy was just trying to make a living...... the only breadwinner because the rest of the famly be on welfare. So we are financially disadvantaged because he was killed so I think because he was doing illegal things & got caught we should get 2 million dollars????? Here's a clue from someone W/O a law degree BUT is educated. City STOP paying these lawsuits same as crime. Keep rewarding or ignoring crime & it gets worse.
