It's not just happening at the stations - it's happening around the train yards, too:

• A man identified in employment records as a CTA rail employee was found shot to death outside the agency’s 98th Street railyard entrance early Monday. Nobody reported the gunfire when it occurred, likely because the shooting took place on a remote overpass. However, that bridge was monitored by the city’s ShotSpotter gunfire detection network until Mayor Brandon Johnson disconnected the system in 2024.

  At about 4:15 a.m., the Chicago Fire Department responded to a report of a person down in the 9900 block of South State Street, just outside the CTA’s 98th Street Yard entrance, officials said. When paramedics arrived, they discovered the 57-year-old man had been shot in the chest and summoned Chicago police officers to the scene. The victim was taken to Christ Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:52 a.m., according to officials.

And it's a Conehead Corpse in an area formerly covered by ShotSpotter.

This one fell outside of the weekend numbers due to the time of discovery - but it may have been an actual weekend number if ShotSpotter had been active.
