Mayor Brandon Johnson is weighing in on the back-and-forth between Gov. JB Pritzker and President Donald Trump over how to handle crime in Chicago.
The president posted to Truth Social overnight, saying: "Governor Pritzker, I, as President, can fix this, FAST and Permanently. D.C., Memphis, New Orleans, all down to record lows, and quickly! CALL ME!"
This comes after a violent weekend in Chicago, where 39 people were shot, six of whom died.
Trump asked why Pritzker isn't calling him for help. The governor responded to the president's comments, saying he doesn't think Trump has any idea how to protect the state of Illinois.
Except for those pesky statistics coming out of Washington DC where crime has hit 30-year-lows and the mayor (along with the chief of police) are actively praising the federal intervention.
And since it's Federal assistance, guess who isn't on the hook for all the associated costs?

Fata$$ can't have Trump getting good headlines ahead of the mid-terms, so he's willing (and complicit) in the bodies stacking up all summer.

Doubt me? Pritzker floundered in his prior reelection campaign against Bailey until the US Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. Darren couldn’t wait to announced he’d ban abortion and the result was Pritzker won a second term.

What’s with this new fade of officers just asking anyone to sign complaints and making an arrest. No talking to the other party, no witnesses or video just officers right to believing the caller and offering an arrest. CPD is a fast sinking ship it’s completely doomed.

We've had more victims of murder and violent crime so far this month than our armed forces have had in all of Epic Fury, which started in February. We need The National Guard activated to come in, stop street takeovers, and go into the hood and prevent shootings.

My son is retired ICE officer in Memphis. He said crime there has dropped since Trump sent the national guard and a task force of Marshals, HSI, IRS, FBI and state police, which is going after career criminals.

Been doing that for years. Locking people up just because someone SAID someone else did something to them or committed some property crime. No evidence, other witnesses just someone saying someone did something. No proper preliminary investigation, nothing. How many men or even women have bee arrested for domestic battery simply because an angry spouse said they were battered and the responding officers just took the word of the angry spouse as gospel because they were afraid to NOT make an arrest ?
Did the same. Sold my house and lived in hotels and Air BnB for several months before leaving for good. Most were out of the city and out of Cook County. Came to work and told no one. Buisness as usual. Work only had my cell phone number. Last day OTJ left with no regrets. Been back twice. No plans to return in the near future.
