House Mouse Deployments
The First Deputy is making some waves:
- It has been decreed that ALL full duty members in cushy spots (like BIA, BOCT, BOP & Constitutional Policing) are to be deployed on posts. No EXEMPTIONS are permitted. Full duty members will be “working day” deployed for all events. This alleviates cancelled days off, reduces overtime (to keep her promise to the Mayor) & takes the strain off units that are constantly deployed, day-in-day-out. Also heard, some of the Chiefs are already in her crosshairs for perceived slights since her promotion.

Actually a good and appropriate move, but kind of humorous seeing as how little time the First actually spent on the street. We've got an entire folder of those stories.
But how much "power" does she actually have as they brought Interim Fred back and wouldn't even let her run the Department for a single day - which is actually in the job description for the First Deputy

Omg, she was the queen of being exempted from working the streets when this missive was sent out a million times before. She was always saved at the last minute. The gall. Time to also make the cowards in the SDSC room work the streets. In all honest, no active PO should be working in that room, hire retired PO’s to work those rooms. The only exception should be veteran officers on light duty.
Time for majority of inside positions to be civilianize. No need for an able body Po to be working inside, unless a legit light duty or an officer is battling cancer and has used his medical time for the year.
TRED is in trouble with the new 1st. The unit shows up late if at all at details with half the manpower they are supposed to bring. Tons of ot money that was not necessary or warranted.

I currently work at BIA. But only after having spent 18 years pushing a BEAT CAR! There are females with less than 5 yotj detailed to BIA, detail them out instead. Don’t lump us all into the house mouse category.

Years back when it was IAD they use to send out General and Special investigations members for details. Then they added the Advocate (lawyers) section……..until they had outside officers confronting these IAD members on the details? This was back when Tim Moore was a Sgt. in IAD Special investigations. And then the detailed IAD section members started to mutiny since the Confidential section was never assigned to the details.
About one month went by, the Superintendent Office started hearing the complaints from the Unions and members attorneys since all the IAD investigations became shelved. The investigators were out working the street on the details during the weekends. And given days off during weekdays.
So during the weekdays when IAD office is open no one was available in IAD to take statements, secure evidence. And the best, no one was testifying at criminal or police board cases.
It’s simple it sounds like a great idea until the shortage shows up on the back end…..and if your the officer with a IAD case that has taken a year or longer to close? It was eventually a grievance. When a CR was initially opened they found it took three months to contact the complaint’s and even longer to contact witnesses and accused members. It was a joke that backfired on the Superintendent. And then they sent IAD members back to clear up the backlog……

The main thing that I have never missed since my retirement is the constant threat of a complaint or a spar form or some other accusation or discipline threat. It never ends for just about every petty thing that can happen in any job, but mostly in a job that just about every time results in some form of confrontation of dissatisfaction from the public or some connected boss. I went into private industry after retirement and the stark difference on how I was treated was an eye opener. The CPD has never respected its members or treated them in a respectful manner and the bosses have preyed upon women as long as I was on the job ( 34 years), and has gotten away with it and I can include at least two superintendents, just about every Deputy Superintendent in that mix. Maybe a female superintendent will finally change the culture. Charlie Beck came here for six months and was in the process of righting the sinking ship when Lori brought in Brown who reversed everything at the behest of the political class to remain in control. Ursetti does not need a long list of arrests to be successful. She needs leadership and foresight and the backing of city hall to make meaningful changes. Give her a chance.

Reading the comments in almost any post reminds me how toxic this department is, not just the leadership but the rank and file. The FOP is no fraternity and any copper on the street or in a "cushy spot" only look out for themselves. The only thing that brings any of us together on this job is the loss of a member. That is sad.

The problems in Area 4 still haven’t been addressed, and it’s just business as usual.
Nearly $50,000 was found in the newly promoted merit Lieutenant’s former desk and car, and there hasn’t been a word said about it. Now she’s claiming it was ALL her money. That’s easier than explaining how the Area profited $50,000 from the snack shop or wherever.
Then the Commander says the money was actually for an “on-the-house” retirement bash for her. So which is it?
On top of that, the two commercial refrigerators—each worth about $1,000—were removed from the snack room because the newly promoted merit Lieutenant is now saying she paid for them herself. As a result, there is no food or water available for detectives to offer victims, witnesses, or offenders who sometimes spend hours in the building. That’s not how an Area should be run.
Meanwhile, there’s a constant stream of emails from the Commander about late lists, overtime, SPARS, training, and other administrative issues. It feels like micromanaging and deflecting from the real problems happening in the front office. The question is, where was this level of concern over the last four years?
There are also ongoing personnel issues, with supervisors being placed into positions they are not capable of handling. That leaves us having to seek direction from people who are actually qualified and knowledgeable just to keep things running.
It’s understood that the Commander is seen as untouchable because of who her husband was and 35th Street’s connections to him. But regardless of that, the Area deserves better than what it’s currently getting.

I spent the last few years of my career at Homan Square. It was definitely every man for himself. Not just that, but people working actively against each other to screw them over. Shady supervisors too. The word “toxic” does not begin to cover it.
Has anyone in this comment section read an order or even an AMC message? HQ and the academy get RDO's canceled and detailed out during all the major events. Some select spots within HQ and the academy were exempt from those deployments until recently (hence the screenshot).

I’m guessing they’re doing all this because they know that they owe 550 million in VRI back pay and when the Sgt’s and Lt’s finally get their contracts settled they’ll owe another 475 million for retro pay. They have to put house mice in the field they can’t afford to hire new Officer’s.
Then why are most rooms filled with people who either have little time on the job, have been inside most of their careers, or never did any proactive police work. It’s also hard to find stuff when you’re only working four hours a day…point and click is the only computer skill needed

Put in a slip for 8 hours(4 hours comes back to the pot)… that’s where the cash came from. Detectives were part of the scam to put in BS slips working from home, working for an hour or two and being allowed to put in a slip for 8+. Detective/admin kept half and then half back to the house for cook outs, the store on the floor, golf outing, Christmas parties and flower funds… someone sang about it after the money was found. Area 4 is about to get interesting…
in the interest of transparency, all sworn personnel of every rank in every unit with only possible exception , maybe the D-unit, should have accessible info on the wire to show all history, total arrests and whatever category of activity the department keeps track of in your career- accessible to anybody with a PC and login... what's wrong with seeing everybody's numbers and assignment history?

Never happen, I’ve got kid that needs to be picked up from school or the babysitters. A simple to/ from will allow me to continue to hide out as I have done for most of my career along with my fellow sleeve tattoo tough males who can tell you a story about how “they have done their time on the streets”. Spending a few years on the street and having a “traumatic” moment is enough to secure me a desk spot for the rest of my career. Now I know that most of you brave officers encounter danger and traumatic moments on just about every other assignment but I these men are different. They are weak cowards who simply like to pretend to be police so they can hang out at cop bars and act cool. I wish you all well brothers and sisters and believe me when I tell you that working a 4 hour tour in this building inputting stuff in a computer is no easy task. I need the time off, duty availability check, uniform allowance and furlo just to make this job palatable. I’d be lying if I said I think about you all but should you get injured on this job, I will gladly post a thin blue line on my social media and gladly accept all the “stay safe” and “thank you for your service” from all the idiots who think I am actually out there doing the job I swore an oath to do.

Compstat unit 115 has been disband for months
There are full duty Lts, Sergeants and officers in court section who don’t get deployed by DC Quarterman and others under her command. She hides certain members. Check deployment list
A lot of detectives are hiding from deployment while others are deployed in D Unit.
I forgot to mention when I was commenting on the toxicity of Homan Square-I did make it work for me. Just wanted to mention that before anyone replies along the lines of if I didn’t like it I could’ve left. The districts are not much better anyway.
Many years ago I was detailed to the Fiesta del Sol with some HQ dollies and other unit inside people-all females. It was a beautiful day and on the early shift it was all families and no bangers. All the insiders did was complain. One of them actually said something along the lines of, if something happens what are we gonna do? Oh no! Those poor people! They got their Sunday canceled to go to a mellow street fest with perfect weather. How could they possibly survive such indignity?

Yeah it’s nuts. She has to be on of the top 3-5 most juiced up people in the department. There was a slight chance something might have happened to her, but now that Waller is (officially) back she is completely untouchable again. Must be nice. If anyone of us did even 1/10th of that we’d be in Federal custody.
The real insider house mice have already transfered out of units that will deploy them to the streets. They got the heads up weeks ago, and made their phone calls to bet transfered to a safe unit. They all take care of each other folks. It's a big club and were not in it.
I know a Sgt assigned to HQ who refers to it as “his city job” because he knows he isn’t the police! Coward has been taken care of his entire career. If he isn’t on the medical , then he’s on furlough. Seems ok when he is on a beach but as soon as it’s time to go to return to “his city job”, he posts pictures at the hospital. Even claiming he had “brain surgery” only to be perfectly fine a week later. Goof

Every north side district has POs with less then 5 years hiding inside either on the desk or the commanders office and most of them are females but who’s counting.
They do a lot! They go out every Tuesday night and do license-premise checks! After they work their three hours, they’re ripping shots at the bar! Girl power!

Years ago you were able to look up career statistics for anyone on the department. Exempts with single digit career arrest numbers put an end to blue shirts being able to access that

She was initially on light duty assigned to a unit at the HQ, had her doctor to clear her from light duty so she could interview and make merit detective and had her doctor to make her light duty again one week after detective school was over. Currently detailed to the medical session on light duty making tons of O/T at detective’s pay despite citizen being hired to work the counter.
People will just layup…backs,feet etc..

Stacey Lewis was collecting money to give to hubby to give to the Conehead for the recent exempt promotions. It’s election season. Duh! Conehead needs money and CTU-Stacey David can no longer cut him a $100,000 check.

I agree 100%! There is nothing done by any house mouse that requires OT. Should be a fixed salary and limited benefits. No furlough, no duty, no uniform allowance or any other compensation given to working officers.
The entire Detective division needs to be revamped. Do nothing worthless and lazy. You all want to conduct investigations via telephone or computer. Treat victims like shit and steal overtime at their expense and in the end depriving them of any type of justice. Zero respect. 99.9% of you were dogs on patrol and all that changed was your pay scale and your work clothes.
Way too many people assigned to HQ have take homes for no reason.

Say what you will, but my experience with her on-scene has been all positive. She conducted herself as a decent sort in her interactions. Never before met a gold star that gave a hoot. In other words, she appears to be "a bit of alright."
Why are 20 HQ being sent to the Obama building everyday.
And apparently the 163 Lt is in charge of all those deployments. Sounds like someone’s making some back door money.
