Three people were killed early Sunday after a car fleeing police drove off a bridge and into a train box car in Bedford Park, Chicago police said. A fourth passenger is in critical condition.
Chicago police were responding to a call after someone pointed a gun at a person from the car. Officers tried to pull over the vehicle, but the driver didn’t stop. Officers briefly chased the car before stopping the pursuit, according to police.
Smart move! Obviously someone has been reading the Training Bulletin!
But then....:
- Illinois State Police troopers then saw the same car and attempted to stop it in the 5500 block of South Cicero Avenue. The car briefly stopped for the troopers, but then the driver sped off again. State troopers radioed Chicago police for back up.
We're hoping this is just sloppy reporting. Chicago terminated the chase, whether by supervisory order or self-termination - IT WAS OVER. Anything the State Police transmitted after that point should be considered information only - as in "last seen" or "headed in XXXX direction" or "occupied 4 times" etc.
Yes, we're aware a gun may have been displayed or pointed in some manner, but the powers-that-be have decreed that this alone is NOT a reason to pursue. We don't agree with it, but it's easier to suspend or fire you for disobeying the rules than to actually enforce the law.
Because then this shit happens:
- The wanted car — speeding away from police in the 6900 block of South Cicero Avenue — drove off a bridge and crashed into a train box car at around 2:15 a.m. Sunday, police said. Two men and one woman in the car were killed and pronounced dead at the scene. A second woman was taken to Christ Hospital in critical condition.
And now the years of lawsuits begin and careers will hang in the balance as the bottom feeders attempt to blame the police for some dumbass being unable to drive....or obey the law.

They refused to pull over when CPD tried to stop them. The CPD did the right thing according to the G.O.'s that are basically written so some connected mouthpiece I mean lawyer can clean up in court. What happened to the rule of law? Could you imagine this happening any other time in American history?? The cops should have been carrying hot dogs & when the car hit the train car if there was a fire they should have taken out the weenies & cooked them up & ate while watching the car burn!! This is the important part. You don't pull over for police, odds are they knew that CPD can't chase which is why EVERYONE runs. Then the ISP pulls you over & they stopped briefly trying to get some distance from the Troopers. Then they make a fatal mistake & think they can fly. As all of this is by design. so once they chose to disobey the law they should lose all attempts at a law suit & since they can't hire a lawyer themselves as they are taking a dirt nap neither should their next of kin. We have to stop this rewarding bad behavior or it's just going to get worse. F them & the railroad car they left this world in.

Just a short bit ago our leaders were encouraging us to chase for air bag thefts. Is that still a thing? They said it’s ok tho because they’re usually armed. Will the department back us if that goes south?
The fleer really had to be a bad driver as there are 3 lanes in each direction. Maybe the driver couldn't read the road signs. The law firms are just salivating to get a piece of this. The families could sue the CPD, ISP, the State for the road and the makers of the bridge overpass. Then the railroad can sue the families new fortunes, for the boxcar and its contents, the damage to the RR right of way and the shutdown of the RR causing major shutdowns of traffic. Everyone will make some money from the lawsuits except the taxpayers who will pay eventually.

So this ended exactly how it was supposed to… the bad guys lost and no innocent people were hurt or killed. And before you say the passengers didn’t deserve to die, they should’ve known full well that actions have consequences. And some consequences are instant and irreversible.
So yes, I literally cheered learning that all 4 didn’t make it… that’s 4 less assholes to do something like this again, putting LEGITIMATE people in harms way. I only hope they all suffered immensely before expiring.
