Oh boy, brings back memories.
Bud is Babs now. Babs Milkyman . She don't care if kids don't know about the first day of school or not, they can all stay home on some dirty mattress on the floor for all she cares. Parades are dumb. I understand if some tiny town with 3k people want to walk through town while the others stand along Main St. That’s an event for small towns. In a major city it’s nothing more than a recipe for violence. It screws up traffic and costs a lot of money. If I were in charge my first order of business would be ending all parades. Irish, Black, Hispanic, & Pride. All of em. Parades suck.

The 3 worst parades in Chicago: #3; Bud Billiken; (Last forever!) #2; SS Irish ( to many drunks that wish they were Irish!) & #1; Pride (Back in the Day when I was assigned, the Floats Participants were throwing plastic baggies of PISS on the POs!) I must say that the throwers were from Milwaukee!
I must say that after working my share of being detailed to bud it was a pain in the ass but don’t really remember any mass shooters not until later maybe after we all left then it was a regular night in the deuce old school black people were pretty cool along the parade route

Downtown Irish parade is way worse. I’m guessing you haven’t been to the SS one in awhile. And #2 is without a doubt Mexican Independence parade.
What’s the stats in lollapalooza? Or mostly people of the race that doesn’t cause a lot of problems how was that? How many people hundreds of thousands maybe 1 million estimating nothing major a miracle must be because they don’t have as many MB Make believe churches in every block.

These forced overtime days are terrible. I wouldn’t work the Bud for triple time. It’s an absolute nightmare. With that being said, the union should negotiate double time , double time and a half or even triple time for these type of events. Think about this for a moment, this is the only job that I know of that you are forced to work your day off. Do you think a plumber or electrician is forced to work on their day off? Fuck this city. It’s time that the union forces them to pay a premium.

Years ago You forgot PR parade and week long shoot a rama. They would put about 150 of us in the Armory with no air waiting for the ok coral to get started after dark. Great times for us on several of the free for all riots through.

This years BB parade seem to be the MOST disorganized. 200, 200x, and 299 all sounded stupid and unorganized on the radio. CPC always cheeps out when it comes to bosses.

Post of the Month!!
No one remembers that St Patrick was the evengelist that brought faith back to the Emerald Isles. They just thought it was a good reason to get drunk and act like a fool. So, dont act like canceling that parade was a cultural slight. If truth be known, St Patrick waould be ashamed himself of how the day was celebrated.

It was a beautiful day. I got to watch an awesome parade. Then went over to the Obama library and then attended a bbq in Washington park. Then caught the after set at the Jackson park basketball courts for a special midnight basketball display. You can’t plan that any better !!
I can’t figure out why people on here keep knocking the SS Irish Parade. If half the shit that went on at Bud, Pride, PR Fest, Mexican Fest or numerous cluster screw ups in the City it would be cancelled again.
Remember years ago being at a roll calls before two of these event. At the Bud the 2nd District Commander told people that this was a family event. He didn’t. want anyone out there starting things with people. On the other hand before the SS Irish Parade you’d have thought you worked in a different City. Drinking on the Parade was not to be tolerated. Wagons were stations along the route and were to be utilized. Fortunately most people just shook their heads knowing these bosses were out of their minds. In fact the SS Parade was cancelled by the organizers themselves severals years ago because of misbehavior. What are the chances any of the others might do the same?

Not defending her, because she is an idiot, but she was number 1 for Sgt and I believe 2 for Lt. So no merit, but probably cheater
How about that the entire parade was delayed 20 minutes because an idiot Sgt from the Mayors Detail had the entrance blocked with his car.
August 15, 1982, at 0045 hrs, Anthony Porter shot and killed 2 people in the Washington Park Pool's bleachers. You are correct. Bud Billakin Day's parade was the day before, August 14, 1982. The parade goers were long gone, and the park was turned over to the gangs, one of them being the Gangster Disciples. Porter being a Gangster Disciple turned the park into shit show.

I'm sorry to burst your bubble. I work many 5 and sometimes six hour days, Monday thru Thursday during the week. I sometimes make harrowing and dangerous lunch runs during my difficult day, sometimes I might even be late picking up my kids from school. This is very stressful, causing me to constantly be on the alert. I am always available for immediate deployment if needed. My equipment is always at the ready to respond to any life threatening situation. This is why I earn that duty availability check.At least until my merit promotion comes in....
