Can't Let Go

Some people just have to hang on:

  • The Illinois Supreme Court has announced the appointment of Cook County Circuit Judge Timothy C. Evans to the First District Appellate Court.

Judge Evans has served on the bench since 1992 when he was elected to the Circuit Court of Cook County.

Evans was elected as Chief Judge of the Circuit Court in 2001, becoming the first Black person to serve as Chief Judge.

Evans, age 83, will fill the vacancy created when Justice Terrence J. Lavin retired in March of this year.

He's older than the last two presidents and there were calls from both sides saying that each should have stepped down when it was politically advantageous.

But here's Timmy, hanging on, sitting in judgement of all sorts of important issues, unable to just enjoy his massive "earnings" after a quarter of a century presiding over one of the more crooked systems in existence.

So this Ahole is collecting an city pension as an alderman, a county pension for being a judge and then chief judge and now he'll collect a state paycheck. Combined total has to be over 500k a year. Lets hope arterial sclerosis is near.

If he leaves he’s not the high boss in charge anymore. When he mets someone he can say I’am the Chief Judge of the Illinois Appellate Court. If he retires he’s just Mr Tim Evans on the street. He must love all that being addressed as “Your Honor” and the bowing and scraping. Watch out for senility like Biden.

281k a year as an appellate judge salary.

18 years as an alderman. Guesstimate on that pension he's drawing say 110k.

Plus social security.

He ain't hurting.

Biden was born in 1942. Evans in 1943.

He can't imagine himself retired.

As long as he's an active judge he can't draw a judicial pension.

Best case for state finances is he dies in office.

Judge Evans has proven himself to be a valuable member of the communist, uh, I mean democrat party. This is his reward for that good behavior. He might even be able to bequeath his last gig, or even this new one to a relative. Y'know, like CPD; good bloodlines, etc.
And like the bosses who never leave CPD, at home he's just "Tim," or "the asshole." Here he is (thinks he is) somebody and everyone has to kiss his ring.

Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley will turn 93 this year. He's held his seat since 1981. He's older than the Jeep, the helicopter, and Bugs Bunny. Without term limits, there's no getting rid of some of these people.

The only reason to stay would be for the ot Otherwise they just don’t have a life outside of work. And when they hit retirement age they will get a full time security gig even though they don’t need the money

You sure don’t understand it. Like my father I went until my 63rd birthday and $165,000 my last year was a fraction of what others sergeants earned with a little OT thrown in. Hey, lots of very important and successful people work more than forty hour weeks. That’s fairly serious money and far exceeded the 75% of my last four years
average. On the fifth year retired I broke $100,000 and climbing. Despite 25 of my 29 years being spent in districts within Area Four I can count the bad days on one hand. Oh, and most of all everyday was a party and who wants to leave a good party? Longevity is the family strong suit and the Ol’ Man took ‘em for thirty years before heading off to that big roll call in sky. There’s a serious brain drain when old guys leave and your assertion that you can make nearly as much retired early indicates your math and analytical skills might benefit from sitting down with an old timer who can explain the deficits incurred when you’re no longer throwing $24K into Dodge and Cox or Contrafund. Unless your going work security for the Ricketts or at a McDonalds what will you do to offset the loss in income and tax deferred savings you enjoy now?

They'll never pass term limits because if they do, they can't continue to rip off taxpayers with their fraud. Same reason they won't pass a law about trading stocks while in office. The majority are doing inside trading. They are scumbags. The Founding Fathers would have already hung most of them in the public square. Democrats are absolutely vile, but republicans aren't far behind.

Sadly, some people work to get away from home. Some work because the job is all they have. Some work because they failed to plan an exit strategy. Some work because they love the job, and that means they love working with you. Whatever the reason, at this late stage of their lives, let them have that.

Some of us - myself included - stayed past being maxed out in order to qualify for the health insurance at 55. I wasn’t about to spend 1/3 of my pension on paying for private health insurance while people who came on later in life (35) got the same perk after 20 years. Besides, I had a great gig with better seniority the last decade or so and I milked it for all it was worth. I listened to the old timers when they told me to “treat this job like a hooker, kid”.

Then there’s people who couldn’t or didn’t invest enough to comfortably retire. Then there’s goofs who didn’t learn after their 2nd spouse that marriage may not be a good fit = alimony. Ditto kids with a couple of a few different people = child support. Etcetera, etcetera…

Simply put, worry about yourself, Sport. Stay outta other people’s business and you’ll quickly learn that it’s doesn’t cost a thing to keep your mouth shut and mind your own business.
