And the only place to get answers is at an FOP Meeting:
Members need to show up and demand answers about the “personal expenses” charged to the FOP credit card:
- What personal expenses did our dues pay for?
- How many personal purchases were made?
- Who made them?
- How much was spent?
- Where are the credit card statements and financial records documenting every personal charge?
- For years, John denied that there were any personal expenses on the FOP credit card. Now that attorney Terence Campbell—whose $450-an-hour bill is paid with our dues—has acknowledged that personal charges were made, John now wants members to believe those purchases were somehow acceptable simply because he claims he repaid the money.
The next General Meeting is at noon on 16 September and there really needs to be a decent amount of people showing up, if not to ask questions, then to see how the questions are being avoided at the very least behind a smokescreen of procedural BS.
This is YOUR money. You pay dues every single check, not so the Board can enjoy steak dinners and buy $10K paintings, but so that the Lodge can provide legal assistance when needed, address safety issues when the City tries to get around spending money properly, and negotiating a Contract that protects your legal rights from being trampled on when something goes sideways.
It's time to show up boys and girls. Mark your calendars.

Surely there is some conflict of interest here. Mr. Campbell's actions are unethical. He is no longer the FOP's lawyer. He is Mr. Catanzara's lawyer.

The one constant that I have noticed and read about is corruption in the ranks of union leaders, every union going back to the formation of the Teamsters.Nothing new, but you would really expect better from a police union.

Let me see if I have this straight, Jscat lies to the members about using his lodge card for personal reasons - like maybe a jamaican vacation, the feds are investigating him for financial improprieties and whatever else, the board APPROVES legal defense for JScat so the members can pay for his $450 dollar an hour attorney, (tell me again why the members are paying for his legal defense?), and members of the same board-who approved members paying for JScats legal defense, recently charged 1st VP-Mette with approving legal defense for a dues paying member who likely is much more justified in members paying for his/her legal defense than J'Scats. His hypocrisy knows no bounds!! When the truth finally comes out I hope every Board member who stood with him resigns in shame.

Definitely we need answers! What about this going in in the Garfield Ridge neighborhood? It seems kinzie grammar school, which is right next to Kennedy high school has a mold problem ! So all of the students are going to be able to go to Kennedy high school for classes so how much over capacity do we have there? Couldn’t we combine some of these schools? How many schools have a handful of students we could easily close and save taxpayers billions of dollars? You know all the police stations as we know with a mold problem so many coppers have cancer being built on dumps. They didn’t care about all that now they’re gonna do it because it’s for the children! The teachers are probably trying to do the work from home thing again where they’ll be on the beaches in Florida for the winter.

Nobody like a Thief
I skipped to the end as I have some personal history in this area. Ok the Village backed me & 3 chief's on a sexual harassment complaint. The "village" attorney said in his 1st statement to the 4 of us that the village is paying our attorney fees because they represent the village AS WELL as us. But & this is the important point. If at any time our representation is counter to the village's position they will drop us like a hot rock. So if 6 months from now the division of representation becomes J-cat VS FOP Lodge 6 the attorney cannot represent both. But they will have all the info they need to protect whomever they are not hired by. My guess is J-Cat will claim that attorney & the FOP will be behind the 8 ball. It's time the Lodge starts looking out for the majority of da members NOT the few.

What bugs me is when our dues skyrocketed so they could make their own “pac” for political reasons. Would be interesting to see where the pac money went, how much has actually gone to candidates for election and where all of our money has gone. Our union dues did just go up a little, but ALOT and this clown and his group of idiots are making personal charges to our accounts that nobody can look at. There needs to be a 3rd and 4th party handling this next fop election. Nobody from fop should even mail out a ballot. Every paying members name should be sent to a 3rd party who then checks to make sure the list is complete and not leaving anyone out, 3rd party mails everything out, collects and counts with zero input from anyone else. No more post office games, lost ballots and “friends” in the Edison park post office keeping an eye out for ballots. That or have 24 hours of voting in all 22 districts in the city open for all 3 watches so everyone can vote in person. As people vote, they show their police ID and are marked off the list of active members as voting. Retirees and active deployed are the only ones who can apply for a mail in ballot. No more games.

Well.. if we are going to get technical, J-Cat is a member of FOP Lodge 7. Any member under investigation relating to their duties is covered by the legal defense fund. As of right now it’s an investigation and there are no criminal charges therefor yes, the fop legal defense fund can pay for his lawyer during this investigation. If I am under investigation and the FOP gets me an attorney to represent me he represents my case.. he does not have to report anything to the FOP or the board because I’m the client and I have privilege with the attorney. Just saying that the lodge paying for it isn’t a huge thing

And also every time an officer is provided with legal defense the legal defense committee has to approve the request for legal defense through a vote.
