troubled tactical unit and accrued more disciplinary complaints than any
other cop.
On Thursday night, his tumultuous career was placed in serious jeopardy: The Chicago Police Board announced he faces firing in two separate disciplinary cases.
By Friday afternoon, Vecchio was in police custody, accused of brutally attacking a woman earlier this week and holding her against her will, according to a police report.
The woman was only able to escape by scaling down a third-floor balcony when Vecchio left her unattended to grab a food delivery, the report says. She told police that Vecchio had once warned her that he wouldn’t need a gun to kill her — “he could just crack her head open.”
And now the department is painted with the same brush as this guy. You know it, we know it, everyone knows it. If the Department and City wouldn't mindlessly defend and cover for connected people who never should have been on the job or kept around after their first scandal, the CPD would be a in far better position in so many ways.
Anyone know why the media is running with the picture of him and Barz together?

Barz groomed him when he lived up north and worked tact in 006. Brought him to 018 when he was commander to violate civil rights like he told officers to do in CST with his blue card quota. Barz is a stroke that jammed up many coppers or got them killed.

Some people just don’t have the discipline or the brains to be the police.
The people on the job who are far worse are the imposters. They can’t do the tasks for their position. I’ve seen people story tell for hours only to do nothing when real police work comes. Then you have the supervisors who have been over promoted and are clueless. When a leader is need for rank and file to come together as one and do what’s expected. They experience catastrophic failure. The worst, the imposter, won’t admit that they caused the failures and blame others and continue to cause mission failures and strife. A real leader would admit they can’t do the job so we could all flourish and complete the mission with the best possible outcome!
I’ve come to think that many see this profession as just a job. Until they are the victims. I come to realize I’ve given too much and expected too much. As I heard when I was a recruit “kid it’s all BS”. I plan on retiring in two years and feel like I was lied too by the administration and waisted my time talking this job seriously. I wish I would’ve not seeked glory or acolytes. A job isn’t worth risking your life or risking life long injuries. While there is an underground network of police impersonators getting hooked up doing nothing and never going to even attempt anything. All while rising to the top of the food chain off the back of the hard working and dead hard working police officers.
Just go to your jobs and go home and treat the place like it is; A JOB. Nothing more and nothing less. You will survive and get promoted once or twice.

Who conducted the investigation of John palluskey when he got caught stealing millions from the sergeant union? He was arrested in 2009 and sentenced to 12 years in prison by a Cook County Judge in 2012.
Just curious , because that investigation seemed to be rather swift.

I am not defending any suspected actions by Barz or Hein or any other supervisor of this Vecchio guy, but did any of them enable him and encourage him to commit domestic battery and unlawful restraint, especially after they retired? Asking for a friend.
As a result of the Department's current hiring and screening process, many more of these unfortunate incidents will be occurring. The Department has no clue as to how much more the "new" Department will cost them in future lawsuits initiated because of the actions of the "be the change" officers. I thought a huge City goal was to build community trust within the Department? Never going to happen with the way things are headed. The consent decree monitors have a job that will last through infinity.

I was assigned with a team to do a mission in the projects some years back. The WC said he wanted every swinging dick over there locked up. When we got there I told the guys if they saw somebody doing something illegal they should arrest them. If not, we’ll go in with zero arrests. I told them if everything went well the WC would take all the applause. If it went sideways, he’d act like he had nothing to do with it.

My words exactly. I've given too much and expected too much. I did not work hard to get accolades. I worked hard for myself, I worked hard for the victims, because it was the right thing to do. I did not go to parties nor schmooze up with the bosses. I always rearranged my life schedule and put my job first. I kept my nose clean, and I didn't fraternize with the boys and girls.. I didn't scam overtime, court, or my work day. I knew I was honest and that no one can say I was a slacker, thief or cheater.
And guess what? I was wrong. Doing the right thing gets you no where on this job. My life was a ball of stress that I thought I was managing well, but I wasn't. There was always so much anger watching cops around you and above you getting rewarded for doing nothing....absolutely nothing. The hardest part of their day was waking up, that is IF they showed up at work.
This is mostly specialized units, that the majority of cops will never realize unless you are there. The bad cops and bosses will manufacture lies and situations to knock you down, get you out of the way, and let you know they will always win the Chicago way of corruption.
Old man here says stay in patrol, handle your assignments, and maintain your honesty and integrity.
More importantly, go to school and prepare yourself for a nice, non-police retirement job.

To the asshat poster calling people stupid. John Pallohuskeys investigation began in 2009 and he was arrested in 2009. He was charged with stealing from the Sgt union for writing himself checks and for using Sgt union credit cards for personal business. His response from lawyers was John was only borrowing and was intending on paying it all back, so just give him probation. Subsequently, the court said no and gave John 12'years in prison.
After arrest and charging, the investigation was ongoing and other charges were applied. So yes the arrest and initial charging was quick and it could be done quick to stop the thieving from continuing. Investigation was conducted by CPD.

2 - CPD rushes through internal investigations when they involve anyone with any pull, whack, juice or clout in order to make the unpleasantness of yet another case of corruption go away as quickly as possible.

Their Sgt only had 8 POs to supervise. It's not like he had 70 people on the watch, and was responding to DDs and BS requests for supervisors. You don't have to watch every stop but if your guys are going through every car, you should take notice. I've seen a regular Sgt that had to take some 2 year wonders aside and ask them about why they're doing ISRs on every traffic stop. Then we had a little reflecting at roll call on when we can search a car and when we can't. That's what Sgts are supposed to do, not just park up in a hole and approve BS case reports.
