The Cook County judge who released repeat violent felon Alphanso Talley on electronic monitoring before he was charged with killing a Chicago police officer is accused of holding two courtroom deputies in contempt this week for not immediately removing handcuffs from a different inmate charged with murder.
It’s an upside-down world in Judge John Lyke’s courtroom, where deputies are locked up and repeat violent offenders are sent home.
On Wednesday, two deputies were escorting the inmate into Lyke’s courtroom at the Leighton Criminal Court Building when he ordered them to remove the man’s handcuffs, according to Teamsters Local 700, which represents the deputies. The inmate, who was not identified by the union, was classified as “high risk movement.” Sheriff’s Office policy requires a supervisor’s approval before restraints are removed from an inmate with that classification, according to the union.
This was a "high risk" inmate, probably prone to constant misbehavior in the jail and likely with a history of attacking Correctional employees. He's in cuffs and restraints for a specific reason.
Lyke....get this....wanted the defendant to be able to hug his family who had appeared in court.
Not like family members haven't ever assisted inmates in escaping. Or slipped them some contraband while visiting. When the deputies objected and called for their supervisor - AS REQUIRED BY THEIR OPERATING PROCEDURES - Lyke had them taken into custody for contempt.
First of all, what County Officer(s) took them into custody FOR FOLLOWING THE RULES?
Second who does this idiot think he is? It's bad enough he lets mentals and assailants out under shady circumstances - including one who ended up killing a CPD Officer. But he's going to stick Sheriff Deputies in lockup with the very inmates their supposed to be guarding because they followed procedure - a procedure that keeps the public AND JUDGES safe from violent criminals?
This is why you vote NO on every single judge - because they're unqualified incompetent DEI hires who love criminals more than citizens.
If you don't vote NO on every single judge, at least remember to vote against John Lyke and that other useless bitch Tyria Walton.

I worked there way way back. There is no way any sheriff would take another sheriff into custody on some bullshit like this. We had some people that actually deserved to get locked up but iad came and got them. This is darts fault. Him and chief judge should have worked this out.

If DART had any balls he would order all Sheriff employees out of this scum judge's courtroom until it was made clear what the SHERIFF'S orders are.

The judge is complicit in John's murder as well as the injuries sustained by John's partner. The judge is complicit in dereliction of duty by failing to keep an orderly courtroom. The system meant to protect is complicit when it fails to uphold law and order

And everyone that is forced to appear from law enforcement. Can tell you they would rather have root canal work over appearing in his room of games.
You can tell the Sheriffs deputy’s and the ASA’s are sick of his BS. As for the public defenders, he gives them anything they want? And at every chance he gets involved in how or why a CPD members placed anyone under arrest and bringing them into his court?

From the names in the article, it sounds like one deputy is brown and one black. Should help them get past this. Heaven forbid two white deputies had said "no, Judge, you're wrong."
Having said that, we missed an opportunity for the counterrevolution to start. I hope that I would have had the fortitude to refuse to apologize, and when the judge gave me 90 days, say, "and who, Your Honor, is going to take me into custody?" Then just drop my gear and march myself into ad seg. And maybe the deputies ordered to take the first two into custody could have refused that order. And so on, until you have a jail full of deputies and the MSM is forced to cover it.

The Sheriff of Cook County, yes, you, Tom Dart, needs to file a complaint with the Judicial Inquiry Board. It should have been done the same day as the incident. This Judge should be immediately removed from his court call and sent to the judicial version of callback, that is, filing a pile of papers at the Daley Center on a daily basis.

What should have happened is that courtroom should have been flooded with deputies, supervisors and command staff. The room should have been cleared by those people. The chief union steward little Mo should have had her butt in there with an attorney within the hour telling those deputies to not say a word. Those deputies should have gone right over to the Dart econo-lodge and immediately declared a hunger strike. Then that useless bunch of gangsters should have dragged that stupid tractor trailer around front of the courthouse and lastly get every off duty sheriff with picket signs marching in front of the media calling for Lyke to be reassigned to municipal traffic court. The deputies are represented by the teamsters. The teamsters should make a big of this. Besides the legal route as discussed above, they could fill the courtroom with homeless bums, who refuse to leave when the judge orders it. On another day have them wear t-shirts that that the judge is a clown. The teamsters know CPD is looking to replace fop.
I have a HUGE problem with this situation. Sheriff Tom "Pizza Man" Dart has remained SILENT, and Judge Beach has also remained SILENT, which is extremely disappointing and raises serious concerns about the integrity of the system.
The Teamsters should consider joining with other unions to organize strong, lawful demonstrations and pickets, including at the courthouse entrances used by judges. This situation is a true embarrassment to the entire system and sends a terrible message to the men and women who are expected to work in that environment.
No Sheriff’s Deputy should have to enter that courtroom feeling unsafe or unsupported. The safety and security of those who work within the courthouse should be a priority for everyone involved.

The Teamsters are beyond useless anyone who says otherwise is a bold face liar. I worked at the jail in the 90's. before CPD. I had a complaint filed against me by a shithead.. I called the Teamsters for legal assistance. They told me just resign and you won't be prosecuted. I told them I didn't do anything. They told me they don't spend money on things like that. I hired my own private attorney. The County dropped the case less than 48 hours later. They wanted nothing to do with a real attorney. The Teamsters will never buck the system in a case like this. They are a huge part of the corruption.
Dart is gutless turd and is praying this will go away. He would rather commit suicide than stick for his deputies.

Maybe these deputies need a long stay on the medical due to unwanted stress from this judge. This stress and their stay in a lockup could possibly cause some PTSD. I wonder if they could possibly go on duty disability and get paid til their 65. Just a thought. I know there’s attorneys out there that specialize in this sort of thing. Maybe they should consider a free consultation.
