This isn't the best place to put this post - first thing on a Saturday morning. Our readership numbers are always a few hundred hits lower on Saturdays and Sundays. Everyone has things to do for the weekend, even us. But we can't really sit on this one as it will be stale and outdated by Monday morning. - SCC

On one hand, you have the Burge report. Aldercreatures are demanding release of the investigation, the attorneys for Burge and other defendants are arguing that the case must remain sealed as much of the information did not come from discoverable sources. But the aldercreatures are still demanding answers, transparency and blame to be affixed. We know the aldercreatures are going to use it as a club to beat the police department with, passing all sorts of nonsensical legislation tying our hands while playing to their constituents that they are "doing something" about police brutality.
On the other hand, you have the Inspector General's office begging for tips, clues and information about corruption in the city so that the mayor can claim he's cleaning up graft and such before the next election. And the biggest stumbling block?

Well well well. Imagine that. Alder-asshats won't let the Inspector General investigate them and have granted themselves immunity from any such investigations. Yet they demand transparency in every other city department, especially the Police Department. Can you imagine the outraged howls and screeching if the Department told the aldercreatures to mind their own damn business and keep their noses out of stuff that didn't concern them?

If honesty is what is wanted then it does need to start here. How amazing that Alderpersons aka alderman, alderwoman now, are also known as Aldercreatures, Alder-asshats, Alderperps. Their positions are paid by taxpayer's and any city offical who is holding office should not be exempt from scrutiny. We know what their hiding from at it needs to be brought to light. Look at them as the beacon of light that burnt out long ago. Alderperps start to tumble and the heads will roll. Anyone for Polo?
Aldermen need a check and balance system as well. Why should THEY be exempt? Besides, many of us know that when some places need a little help getting a liquor license. The rumor out here is to just make sure you wash their hands with some green to make it happen.
Their not exempt and that is the way to look at it. Their just alittle slicker on how they handle their favors that's all. I had to laugh when they placed themselves outside of law. How do you scream, rant and demand as an authority figure if you exempt yourself from the same probing eye? I only laughed, because it is so like this arm of the city. "Do as I say but don't Do as I Do" nonsense. It has run it's course. I hope this does open the door for them. If so they have brought it on themselves and that is a good thing!

Sometimes the bond goes way back. When they were 5 years old, Chicago Police Officers John Dougherty and John Knight stood shoulder-to-shoulder for a kindergarten photo. Raised half a block from each other and educated at the same grade school, dirtied by the same baseball fields and stained by the same sandlots, blessed at the same church and hopeless over the same girls, the two grew up to ride together in the same police car.
So close were Dougherty and Knight that they scheduled the same days off and took vacations together so they wouldn't have to work with anybody else. How can you possibly question the value of posts such as this? It is surely as important as any of those posted during normal business hours.
I think the Investigative Journalists of ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, The Tribune, Sun-Times, etc need to pick this up and alert the public!!

Fillmore Gal, I noticed that trend before. There are a lot more people working days, S/S than you think. The Districts, the Areas, & Specialized Units are packed with people working that schedule. My old partner and I used to call the front office in 011 "the plantation". Take a look at it sometime, it needs no explanation. Homan Square is no different.
I sometimes read posts and wonder if these people are practising the "real police" nonsense they post. There was some guy on here the other day preaching about how mistakes were made at the police shooting from Springfield & Roosevelt. I worked on that shooting and knew the idiot got his version from TV. Then he mysteriously stopped posting at 3pm. The venom street cops have for house cats will never allow those people to identify themselves as inside workers.
Why did Alderpeople have to approve of Huberman?
Why was he only approved with the condition that he could investigate anything but Alderpeople?
