Taking a Lawyer to School
Some ass-munch of a lawyer has been retained by the wife of one of the two scumbags that bought the farm when they attempted to commit felonious assault against an off duty Officer. Both came out on the losing end of a gun fight up north. The lawyer claims some sort of hidden policy of the Chicago Police Department allows officers to use deadly force without guidelines or discretion and literally get away with murder (from WGN News tonight - no link on their site yet).
We hate lawyers. As a general rule, we really hate lawyers. We feel the same way about lawyers as we do about gypsies - masses of protoplasm sucking up oxygen so there's less for the rest of us to breathe. Here's a little primer for the scumbag lawyer:

(720 ILCS 5/Art. 7 heading)
ARTICLE 7. JUSTIFIABLE USE OF FORCE; EXONERATION
(720 ILCS 5/7‑1)(from Ch. 38, par. 7‑1)
ARTICLE 7. JUSTIFIABLE USE OF FORCE; EXONERATION
(720 ILCS 5/7‑1)(from Ch. 38, par. 7‑1)
Sec. 7‑1. Use of force in defense of person.
(a) A person is justified in the use of force against another when and to the extent that he reasonably believes that such conduct is necessary to defend himself or another against such other's imminent use of unlawful force. However, he is justified in the use of force which is intended or likely to cause death or great bodily harm only if he reasonably believes that such force is necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily harm to himself or another, or the commission of a forcible felony.
(b) In no case shall any act involving the use of force justified under this Section give rise to any claim or liability brought by or on behalf of any person acting within the definition of "aggressor" set forth in Section 7‑4 of this Article, or the estate, spouse, or other family member of such a person, against the person or estate of the person using such justified force, unless the use of force involves willful or wanton misconduct. (Source: P.A. 93‑832, eff. 7‑28‑04.)
Seems like the Officer in question who killed two scumbags (one of whom's own wife ADMITS he came home to get some illegal guns!) manages to not only fit Section 7.1(a) of State Law, the Officer (and the City) manage to beat the case by direct application of Section 7.1(b). And be sure to notice that the State Law never says "Officer" - this law applies to ALL CITIZENS of the State of Illinois. No one is required to become a target or suffer grievous injury before defending themselves. Self defense is a RIGHT, even in Illinois. Corp Counsel had better fight this one to the bitter end.

THE SCUMBAG LAWYER WAS ABSENT FROM CLASS THE DAY ARTICLE 7 WAS DISCUSSED.
The city will give them $20K to go away. I was sued for $20 Million after a fatal shooting. Dude was 26 and had 8 kids. Plaintiffs in the lawsuit were momma (daddy's whereabouts unknown), multiple baby's mommas, and the 8 kids. The corp counsel called it a class action suit (drum roll). Anyway the city gave them a total of $15K to go away. After lawyers fees it came out to about $800 each. At the time I was pissed. But looking back at it, the money was well spent to make them go away. Depositions (which have tons of leeway) and the trial just wouldn't have been worth my aggravation. I'm sure it was all spent on malt liquor and weed anyway.
Well said, SCC.
The line has to be drawn somewhere.
The city should take a stand and show John Q that you can't always ride the gravy train when you or your baby's daddy fucks up
The city needs to start fighting these lawsuits. Make a strong statement that you better have a damn great case instead of these frivilous suits otherwise you're gonna get a battle to the bitter end.
Walmart does it. It took awhile but now lawyers won't even touch a case unless it air tight.
I have to wonder if the attorney for scumbag belongs to an office run by a former IAD/OPS person?
Let's see.....here convict husband comes home from a bar late at night, changes clothes and gets a couple of pistols and goes out.
He was going to the all night public range right? If she was so worried about his safety, she would have called the cops on him right away.
So our not so upstanding citizen goes out with mayhem on his mind and gets it himself.
What you sow is what you reap...he got the grim reaper.
My 2¢ says the city doesn't pay her anything.
How do you spell relief? M O N E Y
Lawyers Love Policemans Wallets!

The is no apostrophe in the term "baby Daddy"
The apostrophe is not used in ebonics
how about baby-momma
The lawyer Greg Kulis is famous for filing law suits against the city and the police department. This is the way he makes a living this is nothing new for him throw enough shit against the wall something is bound to stick.
We need tort reform but the reality of it is that it will never happen. After all, most of the lawmakers are lawyers. They should also pass a law that if you file a bullshit baseless lawsuit, your attorney has to pay the court costs and attorney's fees for defending against the baseless suit. I guess Shakespear said it all....
First we kill all the lawyers.
Ladies and Gents, don't be suprised if these two clowns get a good settlement from the city and the bar.
By law the bar is supposed to call the police when they have somebody forcefully removed from their establishment. The bar didn't call. I doubt the police officer involved identified himself as the police but dept policy says he should have called 911 regardless if he identified himself or not.
Plain and simple theory for a liberal jury to listen to. If the police officer would have identified himself as the police and called 911 my client might still be alive. If the bar called 911 like they r supposed to my client might still be alive.
Here in liberal land and home to every useless democrat this will float. Its disgusting but look for a payout of six figures or more for each shithead. Look for a possible suspension for the officer involved. Not for the shooting but for what happened in the bar.
Once again, no good deed goes unpunished. Tort reform is desperately needed and shitbags should have to take responsibility for their actions. Not in this city and not in this state. 15 years till retirement (god willing) and Texas here I come!!!!
Oh shut the fuck up you fucking hillbilly.
Cops always think they can get away with it they are so irresponsible that the cops are so dumb they dont know how to cover it up

Go away Troll!
You do not know of what you speak.
Why should I cover something up when I know that I am right?
Again, Go Away Troll.
taking a lawyer to school? i once took my monkey to school. he stole all the kids lunch money. when the cops were on the way he threw the money at me and said im the man of the house now. stupid monkey.
This moring I saw Attorney Greg Kulis on the news. He is represnting some asshole's family in a law suit against the city and officer in the shooting. I knew him from high school. he was just a nerd back then harmless and ignored. chubby but good student (Looser). then he went to college with Jane Byrnes daughter and ended up as a Chicago Corp Council. While there he represented me in one law suit. Later he went into private practice and brought a case against me and my tact team. all he does is represent assholes in cases against the city. His big technique is to get in fast and settle. He probably hasn't taken a case to trial in years however he has taken the city form millions. He is pure lawyer scum. He knows what to ask for and how much the city will settel for.
yikes, here comes the grammar police 7:47.
its "loser" and "settle" and "for" and "representing" and "lawsuit"

I give poster looser as it may be a play on the word. The post was interesting.
If they do a benefit for the PO, please do it at a different bar then the one involved in the incident.
I tend to drink like a fish at benefits, and I prefer that the broads I hit on actually be broads.
