Yeah, We Assassinate People

Look at this picture and tell us the Department isn't about the worst shots you can imagine:

During the incident in question (which we did not attend or participate in), an officer was pinned in some manner by a vehicle driven by a subject who had a BAC of something in the neighborhood of .35 - over 4 times the legal limit.

When an officer is pinned under or between cars, other officers are under the obligation to shoot the operator of the vehicle and remove the threat of great bodily harm to their coworker. It's even codified into State Law and Department Directives. The most likely scenario we can imagine is that during the shooting, the subject continued to try to get away, flooring the accelerator. Officers responded to the escape attempts (that coincidently further crushed their coworker) by continuing to fire at the offender. As the offender bled out and expired, gravity compelled his body to continue pressing on the accelerator, leading to possible further firing of weapons into an already dying or dead subject. In fact, the car's engine was still revving at an extremely high rate until officers actually removed the keys from the vehicle.

As the Superintendent stated on TV tonight, we are trained to fire until the threat has been neutralized. A subject continuing to crush an officer, regardless of being dead or not, means the threat is not ended. This shooting seems to be completely justified.

And how about this quote:
  • Lopez's aunt, who he was living with at the time, says her nephew, who had been living as an illegal immigrant in the U.S. for six months, was a hard working young man who was sending money back home to his family in Mexico.
Boo hoo. He was an illegal who was driving drunk (.35) , fleeing the scene of an accident and we'd be willing to place a small wager on this actual driver's license status (probably "none"). And he almost killed a cop. Screw him, his family and his scumbag lawyer. Let him be held up as an example of a boatload of bad choices coming home to roost.

Great blog SCC!!!

Lets stay on this one! After the press conference by our union president,(quit laughing) lets come up w/a plan of attack!!!!

Whats my point?(Im sipping the loaded grapejuice again;contain yourself LEO)My point is that the civil suit thing is becoming a legit/regular point of retaliation against us;(Ricky D ring a bell) most juries are finding us guilty now, to get even for the tickets and arrests we've made against them and their relatives. Thats why our forefathers arranged it that we weren't sued and if we were, we were always "not guilty" No police/security/military force can operate under these present conditions.

All these Officers that pulled the trigger on this one are heros!!!That aside, once your a target of a civil suit, things change in your life. Lets say your driving thru Galena on a furlough and u decide u want a 2nd home there. U go to a bank to get a loan;if your in the middle of being sued, your name will pop on their computers and u will be denied a loan because your a party to a lawsuit. Its happened to friends of mine. Its time to take the fight to "THEM"

This lawyer and sh*t like him, have created the environment of do-nothing out there. He and "them" are no better than Osama and everybody else thats trying to destroy this country. What "WE" lack is a leader!!!!!!!

As I write this, it's still listed as "0" comments BUT I'm willing to bet IF there are other posters before me, 'someone' [already] stated that the City will still settle this case despite all the evidence.
It's what THEY do, that's why the sharks file cases vs. the City all the time. FREE MONEY!
A law student or paralegal could win these cases since there is no deliberation, JUST renumeration!
WE've seen it hundreds [not an inflated number either] of times before. When they finally settle [They're not seeking culpability, just cash] and after they pay out, who do you think will wear the 'jacket' on this one?
a) drunken, illegal attempt murderer
b) bottom-feeder plaintiffs attorney
c) unwilling/incapable Corp. Counsel
d) da Mere
e) Chicago Police/copper(s)

HINT: "e" is THE answer, but just to be safe.... notify the watch commander, bring a pencil and paper and know the height of a quarry fence just to be safe.
It wouldn't hurt to call your 'guy' just to be sure.

Driving DUI with a 0.35 BAC with no valid USA license + attempt murder of a PO + no insurance + attempting to flee an accident he caused = death. His ass*hole’s aunt sticking up for him is bullsh*t and stupid, not priceless.

That assh*ole should have been driving in the barrio, Mexico.

Do you think that Mexican police officers would have done anything different? Really, think about it.

Terry Eckl is the lawyer sueing the city. Anybody remember him? Isn't he the same guy that was part of the prosecutorial team that was involved in putting Orlando Cruz away? IIRC he was a hair away from being indicted or losing his lawyers license. If so it validates my point about lawyers being nothing more than highly paid whores. One day he's trying to put a guy away for murder, (an innocent man no less) and the next he's representing a criminal. I hate these M/F'rs with a passion.

I find it quite interesting that an attorney on the ARDC "watchlist" is given this much credibility.

This is also the same attorney who goes to the same trough every time the bills are due!

C'mon, the POS illegal was using his car as a weapon. And they expected you all to respond differently?

A similar incident happened recently in Philadelphia, and Philly's Finest made sure the POS would be taking a nice, long dirt nap. Glad to read the same outcome in Chicago...

BTW, hope the officer is ok and recovers quickly.

We need a leader, someone who doesn't need the money, clout or politics. Is there any such person?
Yes, Gary Delagnes, San Francisco Police Officers Association President. Check out his interview where he lashes out on Judges, Prosecutors and the Media, after a piece of garbage (with a rap sheet that was a million pages long) kills a Police Officer in their city! Finally, someone else gets it!
INS should lock up auntie for harboring an illegal alien. Somebody check her status in our Country.
And, chances are, this is not this guys first traffic offense.

Terry Ekl
Attorney in DuPage County, Illinois

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Citizens is in possession of a medical report on the emergency medical treatment of Carrie Ekl, wife of attorney Terry Ekl. The Medical Report states that she was injured by her husband, Terry Ekl, by his throwing a VCR tape at her, causing a head wound.

Further, in a letter written on "Elect Joe Birkett State's Attorney" letterhead, attorney Terry Ekl wrote his wife in which he admits of a tape recording wherein he made allegedly threatening phone calls to her.

According to a Clarendon Hills Police Department report, on July 25, 1994 attorney Terry A. Ekl's daughter, Tracy L. Ekl from his first marriage, appeared at the home of Carrie Ekl, the second wife of Terry A. Ekl, and proceeded to do criminal damage to the property of Carrie Ekl. According to the police report, attorney Terry A. Ekl was aware of the injuries upon his daughter due to her damage to Carrie Ekl's home.

On November 2, 1994 the law firm of Connelly, Ekl & Williams, P.C., who apparently represented Tracy L. Ekl in the court trial, DuPage County Circuit Court Case Number 94 OV 5306, made a payment to Carrie Ekl for damages to Carrie Ekl's home.

On June 28, 1998, criminal damage (reportedly a bombing of her automobile) of Carrie Ekl's automobile was reported to the Lombard Police Department. There is a great suspicion that husband Terry Ekl was probably involved in the criminal (bombing?) damage to the automobile.

On January 11, 1999, the records of the Clerk of the DuPage County Court showed that attorney Terry Ekl is behind on his court ordered payments for child support in the amount of $1500.00 plus arrearage charges. As an attorney, Terry Ekl should uphold the law, not show his disdain for the law and the judges of DuPage County.

Attorney Terry Ekl, is this the way to treat your wife?

Terry Ekl can make seven figures from this bogus case even if the offender's family only gets $1.00.

As part of the 1960's civil rights legislation, the plaintiff gets 100% of the settlement. The attorney's fees are charged separately and can be astronomical.

This has created this industry of sue the police and the city no matter what the circumstances.

It is not likely that this law will ever change. Almost every member of congress is also a member of The American Trial Lawyers Association.

Whatever any of us may think of Terry Ekl, its unfair to slander him with anything posted on the CLR Watchlist. EKL IS NOT ON ANY ARDC WATCHLIST - THERE IS NO SUCH THING AND HE HAS NEVER BEEN DISCIPLINED BY THE ARDC!!! CLR is a lunetic fringe outfit run by a nutcase who got pissed off at a number of judges and lawyers when his divorce didn't go as he wanted. He's probably dead now because the website hasn't been updated in the last 5 years but everytime a Judge ruled against him he filed a complaint with the Judge's Commission, the ARDC and with the State and Fedral Courts.

Whoever published the slander about EKL being on an ARDC Watchlist should better inform themselves before passing on slander, even if it is on the Internet.

Just thinking, Ekl almost certainly wants to settle this out of court. The last thing he wants to do is be forced to prove this ridiculous case out in the open court. So he will probably settle for peanuts for peanuts for the offender's family and get six or seven figures from the city as his hourly fee. The city would settle because it's cheaper, and no comment about the integrity of the city's lawyers.

Let say the injured officers sues the estate of the offender, the bar he where he got drunk, the owner or the seller of the vehicle and anyone else on that side. Won't collect from them, maybe, but perhaps they can collect from their own uninsured/underinsured motorist insurance. If so, the city will collect medical costs from any settlement, at full boat prices no matter what the city paid out.

But if you are able to get anyone into court, it would force Ekl to prove his case in open court. It might even be possible to catch him tampering with a witness

The idea is to grab any money that the city gives the offender's estate. That and to make Ekl prove his case, which he can't.

Next time you talk to your auto insurance agent, ask if your uninsured and underinsured policy will cover your (a) as a pedestrian and (b) while at work. Many do but not all. Also it only costs about $300-400 a year for a $1 million umbrella liability police. It is well worth the cost, you have to have auto and home liability of $250K-500K-250K, and this policy covers the rest.

It makes me sick to see that these poor PO's are second guessed about getting into a shooting. I worked in 009th that night it happened. First off I write a lot of DUI's. The one reason I write them is that someones family or friends can go home safe. It makes me sick when I see day in and day out when these people say well its ok to drink and drive in Mexico and raise the Mexican flag. First off your not in Mexico this is U.S.A. To me if your caught in the country and your illegal alien you should automatically be deported. Look at Australia and their immigration policies. If we had something like that in place stuff like illegal aliens there be no problem. But there are too many liberals here willing to help these people out. Well my family came to this country from Italy and they did it the legal way and not the illegal way. Not our fault ur a shit bag illegal alien, then come to my country and drink and drive and kill people. I have delt with so many accidents where these people could give 2 shits about u and your family. They will hit and kill them and then flee back to Mexico and you will never see them again. It makes me sick!!!!DEPORTATION is the way to go. Your caught illegal your ass is going back to your country. I am glad Bush is doing more to secure the border. When I see these people go around and hit innocent civilians and almost kill them it makes me sick! I am so glad that they finally made DUI's felonies. Lock them up and DEPORT their asses!!!!
