the metra police killer shot off his mouth to one of his drinkning buddies called the state police was charged and will probably collect the ransom money also recovered was the murder weapon...

The Metra murder had a guy charged (that they were looking at) in a separate shooting earlier that day. The Metra P.O.'s murder is still open.
May condolences and prayers go out to the victim and his family/loved ones. As for the motherfucker who did this? His day will come sooner or later. I just hope that it comes sooner than later. I also wish that whoever did this pay the ultimate price in shall I say, "Medieval Style" punishment. This just goes to show that there are monsters out there who don't give a damn about Law and Society. Don't let all these rules and regulations get you down. How we've grown accustomed to "10-99" units. Every beat car in the city/burbs should be a two man unit. Rest in Peace dear brother, you are in a far better place.

I saw the story on the news today regarding the Maywood homicide, heart wrenching. So who do they interview? F/1 telling the reporter.."why didn't they make all this fuss when 2 chidrens where killed " ,,The officer ulitmately gave his life protecting that same block full of people. The nerve of Fox news to show that!!
In Chicago any officer can refuse to take a car out 99. It was a clause in the contract fought long and hard for by the police.
If you get a job from the zone and you are 99 (because you personally preferred to be) make sure squad gets you an assist, you don't need to do the dispatchers any favors and clean the board for them. We will go in a rap as orders dictate. No biggie. If the squad doesn't get you an assist then tell your sgt. If you think you are looking like a pussy for any reason,(fuck them) remind folks that it's not your doing the city won't hire enough police. Make the city officials accountable for thier actions. NPS is the only way to do it. It's the only thing anyone looks at. Give me a district with 11 - 99units , I get 5 jobs and a doa. We are in rap. What about gang and tact you ask? They're detailed to someone else's district. Ladies and gentleman, follow your contract you've earned it the hard way.

there is no such clause. it was a verbal agreement between King Richard I and the police wives assoc. and it was only valid during hours of darkness.
You can refuse an assignment under the safety clause but refusing to man the car under the current admin will probably just get you a dwop.
the media is funny. just had a police officer assasinated in his own squad car and they spent over half of the story covering the supposed inappropriate actions of the police search after he was discovered dead. gotta love the compassion of the media. if it was in chicago all personell on the crime scene would half a blanket cr#.
I hate to break i tto you, there is NO provision in the orders or in the contract that allows a CPD officer to refuse to work 99 at any time.
No one should be working 10-99, especially afternoons and midnights. If you think the union is going to battle this one for us, think again. How many down there get Captain's pay to represent us? There is about one for every 1000 of us, and they still can't accomplish anything. Why do we pay them? I don't get it!
I have a few thoughts on the 10-99 issue. Please, allow me to speak.
I grew up in the city. My dad was a cop and my sister is too. Proud of both. But I turned out to be the black sheep and go somewhere other than CPD. I ride alone and I like it. I can go where I want, do what I want, and no one is going to bitch, moan, tattle, or fart on me. I'm safe. When it comes to stopping cars, I'm pretty good and sound with what I do. It's due to my training. When I feel I need another car, I'll ask for one. And I always stop for my fellow officeres. CPD guys were raised on 2 man cars. I feel awkward with a partner. But, money and politics rule. I've adapted. I love you CPD guys and gals. But he wasn't killed becasue he was alone. There's more to that story I think.
Coppers get killed everyday for many reasons. Check out "odmp". One officer or two? It depends on where you work and what you work.
Bottom line is EVERYONE goes home at the end of the day.

I was the poster who first brought up 10-99 units on this link. I disagree with the last poster. I don't have knowledge of the case other than what I've read. But I read that he had just coded his last job. Therefore, he was targeted/stalked. Maybe if he had a partner, they'd both be dead. . . but I have to think that the COPKILLER wouldn't have tried it if there were two P.O.'s in the car. Much more risk involved for the badguy.
